IGN UK review sin and punishment 2
Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Skies Review
A true Treasure.

The game that no-one dare wish for has arrived, and it's totally sublime. A sequel to a 10 year old cult classic that never made it out of Japan, Sin & Punishment: Successor of the Skies is that rarest of beasts; a Wii game that panders to the hardcore. It's so much more besides as well – a glorious ride through twisted artwork and twisting bullet patterns, it's one of this year's greatest pure gameplay experiences, regardless of platform.

9.2

Gameplay got a 9.5

Eurogamer Italy review

Trying to improve a masterpiece is surely not an easy task: risks are many and the comparisons are always dangerous. Yet Nintendo and Treasure fully reached their goal by making Sin & Punishment 2 a game that's better than the original in every single way. Nothing to object to, this is an epochal landmark within the history of the genre, a product that will be remembered for years.

10/10

Sin and Punishment 2 ONM 90% review Successor Of The Skies is a '90s shoot 'em up in a slick, 21st-century shell, and it's proud of it

Sin and Punishment 2 review from GC 9/10 Gloriously creative visuals, levels and bosses. Perfect controls. Good range of difficulty levels

Sin and Punishment 2 Eurogamer review 9/10

Sin and Punishment 2 Ngamer 87% review A thrilling showcase for every part of the Wii's mighty hardware.

Sin & Punishment 2 IGN UK Review 9.2 - this game is AAA apparently

Sin and Punishment 2 EDGE mag review 8/10

Eurogamer Italy review Sin and Punishment 2 10/10 - a landmark within the history of the genre, a product that will be remembered for years

Not really my kind of game, but who's interested? I waited so long to get Ikaruga on cube that in the end I forgot to get it at all. LOL

I'd pay if it's worth but Nintendo really need to step up their online functionality. I'd love to see them offer a bunch of other things online besides gaming like downloadables such as videos and demos but for that they'll need to put in a mass storage device into their next console.

Sin & Punishment 2 is getting excellent reviews. I may have to pick that up sometime. Ikaruga is an excellent game. I never played it on the GC but I got it on XBLA and I'm glad I did.

Final Fantasy VII was a great game. I'm kind of tempted to download it on PSN and play it again, along with FFVIII and FFIX.

Sin & Punishment 2 is a dream game.  For me it stands for all that is great about gaming.  Past, present and future!

So, having said that, it is in your best interest to purchase a copy of the game ... like now.  Failure to do so will force me to take down your names and hand them to Iga who will then promptly proceed to deal some serious justice ...

You've been warned.

LOL

I've tried quite a few Treasure games in my time. The only one I really liked was gba's Astro Boy. Oh and Guardian Heroes.

I don't really like N64 Sin and Punishment using a stick to control the reticule and convoluted controls for everything else. I wouldn't even consider S&P2 if it didn't have IR aiming. Really the reviews have suprised me for this game as it wasn't even on my radar. Now it's a sort of maybe.

Iwata Reportedly Believes Sony Battle Won, Apple the "Enemy of the Future" Sources say there is a "mood of concern" at Nintendo while they race to come up with new surprises.

Satoru Iwata

Nintendo is preparing to unleash the full force of its development and marketing artillery against Apple after profits tumbled at the Japanese giant for the first time in six years.

The reversal of fortunes, though flagged in advance by the company, throws the spotlight on threats to what once seemed a bulletproof business.

Satoru Iwata, the Nintendo president, is understood to have told his senior executives recently to regard the battle with Sony as a victory already won and to treat Apple, and its iPhone and iPad devices, as the “enemy of the future” .

That, say analysts, may be premature. Last Christmas, almost twice as many Wii consoles were sold in the US as the PlayStation3. But games developers increasingly see Sony’s machine as having a large enough base of users to justify not making titles for the Nintendo machine.

Sony and Microsoft are also making their own forays into family-oriented gaming and the iPhone has emerged as a formidable competitor for Nintendo in the handheld gaming arena once dominated by the DS console.

Sources close to the Kyoto-based company describe a mood of concern as the hardware and software divisions race to restore the capacity to “surprise” — a traditional feature of Nintendo games that Mr Iwata holds dear.

The company’s recent strategy has centred on creating devices aimed not just at children and dedicated — generally male — gamers, but at the whole family. Two years ago, the company claimed to have permanently altered the demographics of video games by raising the average age and the gender mix of gamers. Unfortunately, the very people it claimed to have converted — high-school girls and men aged between 30 and 40 — reported that they would rather have an iPhone than a DS in their pockets or handbags.

Although the company ended the 2009 financial year squarely in the black, analysts described Nintendo’s profit slide as a “triple punch”.

Despite selling over 10 million copies of the latest Mario title for the Wii console, the pipeline of new games has stopped delivering the sort of blockbusters that drove console sales to record levels in the first two years after its launch. Nintendo has also suffered from the financial crisis. Households around the world spent most of last year in full belt-tightening mode, and remain cautious about buying games with a relatively short playing-life.

But the most striking decline was in sales of the consoles. Although both the Wii and DS have outsold their Sony and Microsoft counterparts, the lower technology of the Nintendo machines is starting to show. With far less processing power than either the PlayStation3 or Xbox 360, the Wii is suffering. Its sales were 21 per cent down in the year to March 31. Net profits at Nintendo, meanwhile, fell to Y228.64 billion (£1.6 billion) from Y279.09 billion.

think about the N64 game... then consider that in no2 you can use the jet-pack to move anywhere across the 2D spread of the screen with the nunchuck (not just left-right and jump) and that you aim anywhere with the ease of IR.  This game fits the wii controls like hand in glove.

also i think the reviewers appreciate the rarity that such a game is in today's scene (i can't think of another high production shooter like this). old school yet more modern than anything else.

i know this sounds cliche but this truly is a love-letter from treasure

I know, I know. It looks really good but I'm just more interested in NMH2, SMG2, Metroid Other M, Monster Hunter Tri, Assasins Creed 2 etc etc.

Which unfortunately leaves S&P2 in a hobo purchase position Sad

I think it would be very wise for both Nintendo and Sony to start taking Apple seriously on the handheld front, Microsoft too if they ever decide to jump into that area of gaming. Apple has steadily been gaining foothold in this aspect without ever having to specifically target it with a "gaming focused" system.

Can't fault you really for wanting any of those games as I either own or have them pre-ordered myself.  Hope you will manage to save up for S&P2 as well.

That's a double edged sword.  Nintendo is already trying to compete with Apple as far as the DSiWare.  Compete may be too strong of a word, but they're following a model that Apple put in place and as a result, DSiWare is just chock full of crappy $2 mini-games.  Sony is even going that way with PSN Mini's.  And personally I don't like that direction. Downloadable games don't have to just be microgames that are good for 5 minute bursts.

Hopefully, they'll be very careful with this. I'd hate to see handheld gaming reduced to what it is with an iTouch.

So Wii Party will be another game in the top 10 of NPD forever. A new Kirby, sweet! Nintendo in an epic battle versus Apple, I should get the popcorn.

About LaTD, if you speed through it, no side missions and stuff its only like 26 missions, 10-15 hours or so.

Batman is incredible, ignore Foolz.

S&P2 is hobo delight, that will be one sweet game to get at $10. Nyaa

I'll admit it, I'm looking forward to a Nintendo party game.  There's something to be said for a game that I can play with my kids that's actually fun.
