What Did You Play this Weekend?
For me: I Focused solely on the game whose Focus is a Focus!
Yay!
Whoops. I too vote for sexy man-beast number 3. I would say I just jizzed in my pants, but I'm not wearing any!
This week that passed, I beat Baldur's gate: Dark Alliance (review posted). I played, in passing:
- Flatout for the XB. Not bad, but not great. very shallow vehicle upgrades in career mode and rubber-banding AI that was absolutely ridiculous. Good tracks and car destruction though. Not good enough to play to completion.
- FF3 (DS) Picked it up again for 3 more hours. I've played this game on and off since it came out. I hate the bubble headed graphics and I'm just not into it. I'll play the SNES version from scratch rather than finish this.
What I'm playing now:
+ Chrono Trigger DS. It's finally starting to come together, but this is not a perfect game. Regions are open even if you have not triggered the events that are supposed to have happened prior to you going to those regions, so you spend a lot of time "clicking" on everything trying to get something to happen. Like I said, it's finally coming together.
+ Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II (PS2). Not much to say yet.
+ 50 Cent Blood on the Sand (PS3). This is a great game. Think Gears of War meets Stranglehold. Great soundtrack, fun and funny. Little easy though, I'm playing on the default difficulty.
Hoping to wrap up all three games before Yakuza 3 arrives with my monthly box of games and manga from "america".
NEW WEEK!!!!
Well I was working on my backlog for a bit by playing Metroid Prime Trilogy. I finished MP just recently and started playing MP2. Then I picked up FFXIII yesterday so that has taken my full attention now.
Yay!
Much better!
What did I play this week..... good question. God of War Chains of Olympus since I'm jonesing for GoW3 and can't play it. Sadly I was better off not playing this. Very disappointing.
On the other hand Sonic and Sega All-Star Racing was surprisingly good. Not the best kart game I've played but entertaining enough that I'm considering buying a copy.
Also playing through:
...with a little bit of...
...and some of these...
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
...Such an enjoyable game for me, though I did break the nub off my PSP when playing it.
This this this this this
It wasn't bad. I just had my expectations too high. One of the things I really enjoyed the most about the God of War games was the story. Yes it's Greek mythology at its worst, but it's a fun and unique take on those established legends. But due to the file size constrictions a lot of that had to be sacrificed and the story was mostly told through a narrator.
In fact it wasn't until that final hour of the game after Atlas was released that I really felt the story had gone anywhere at all. That last hour was very good though, and I did enjoy the climax of the game, but after I was done I just felt myself disappointed and wondering, "was that all of it?"
What is this?
Yeah, I can see that. The PS2 games had some involving stories (it was a non-entity in the PSP game). I kind of focus on the gameplay more than story (as has been covered elsewhere). I was amazed by the capabilities of the PSP as well.
New week. I finished Heavy Rain and Call of Juarez 2, and got back to TR: Underworld. Played it most of today, and I think I'm close to beating it. I'm at Valhallah now.
Platforming on this game can be frustrating sometimes, but it's nice to figure out the way out of tricky rooms on your own.
