My personal GotY is Gears of War 2. Amazing graphics and audio, kickass gameplay, and the online multiplayer is simply a blast to play especially the new Horde mode.

What's in the horde mode?
Horde mode is where you fight off 50 waves of Locust for 1 to 5 players and on every 10th wave they get stronger. So far I've made it up to wave 38. Things get very intense when you have a bunch of Boomers, Grinders, Sires, Tickers, etc. coming at you and is a total blast when you have 4 other people with you desperately trying to hold your ground against the onslaught.
That is like the GG Nightmare mode.

Amazing footage but I highly doubt that is real time, the wii cant handle that.
Maybe the resolution is a bit high, but the graphics do not look that good. Maybe we should cross reference it with Fatal Frame 4, to be sure!

Half-Life 2's opening has left me massively disappointed:
Be talked at. Walk, smash debris, walk, swim, smash debris, shoot two people, walk, listen to more people, smash more debris, swim, RUN AWAY from people, run away from more peopel, smash more debris, swim more, walk more, smash debris, run away, listen to people, kill a few more people, smash some more debris, and so on and so forth.
I have been reassured it gets more interesting, though, so I look forward to what the future holds.
Some of it looked pre-rendered at times, but then I saw some shoddy textures and stuff. Since it's set in the dark, it could be real. Doesn't look that interesting to me anyway, but going by reports of Hudson asking to take it down, both this time and a couple of months back, it looks real.
EDIT:
I watched it again, you can see it's actually pretty shoddy, its just that the game is in the dark and has some good lighting. Most of the textures are PS2 quality.
I found it boring too and much of the actual game. That brings a good question to the fore though? Best opening ever? I have to admit the mario galaxy opening section made me feel like I was in Disneyland.
Shut the fuck up and go pick up a can like the combine soldier told you to.
But yeah, I can understand. To be honest...HL2 is a good shooter...though it's not the best game of all time. I've never really liked the story in any of the Half Life games.
