It's completely safe to play on the regular 3DS. I actually find myself using the "L" button to center the camera even though I have the Nub now. Old habits die hard!
Still amazing! I haven't even gone to the swamp yet, so much to do in clock town. I am glad I play this once evey few years, gives me enough time forget the details. The new boomers book is excellent, everything is kept track for you, no need to memorize stupid crap. Fishing is a cool addition. And it plays perfect on the regular 3ds, the camera is great.
Picked this up earlier but I haven't had a chance to play. We've been very busy today so my son has taken over. I kind of created a monster with him. About two weeks ago I mentioned that a new Zelda was coming this year. And every day, for the last two weeks, he will ask, "When is the new Zelda coming?" or " Why can't they put it in a machine that can hurry and make Zelda?" My response that it will probably be November until the new Zelda releases just wasn't satisfactory enough for him. Is it bad that I passed this off as the "new" Zelda this morning?

If it is new to him it is new.
7 hours straight today, so addicting, there is so much to do in this game. The in game guide is impressive, it tracks everything and has a video of how to solve or beat every single area. It is impossible to get stuck in this game.
The only issue I have is that they made it too easy, enemy hits are very weak.
Too bad it's so text heavy at the beginning. I'm doing the first three days so he can fight in Termina.

*gasps*
You evil, evil man!
Help me remember, Vader. So if I start a quest like, say, trying to get a deed from one Deku Scrub to another, I only have the three consecutive days to do so, right? If I let time run out or travel back to day one then I lose all progress, right?
Every stackable item on your Items screen disappears, as well as items that go in the right column on the Gear screen (i.e. Deku Scrub deeds, Moon's Tear). Everything else remains, I believe.
Man, I'm really enjoying this. New graphics, a slightly new layout of Clock Town, and the improved Bomber's Notebook almost make the game feel completely new. For the first time in years, I don't feel pressured to go through side quests just so I can get to the main quest afterward (grinding through quests is the way I replay every Zelda, typically); I'm really having more of a relaxed playthrough of the game, and it feels good. I've run into some odd minor changes (e.g. one or two stray fairies placed in different places in Woodfall Temple), but no changes that rub me the wrong way. I keep hearing people exclaim their disappointment over the change to Zora Link's swimming, but the change does two things: it makes swimming in tight spots give Link fewer concussions and it gives us more cause to use the magic attack. Well, not completely sure about that second point. Whatever, it's a take-it-or-leave-it change for me.
Of the four Zeldas released in the 1998-2001 period, Majora's Mask and the Oracles blew me away. It's a shame that all three of them seem to have more of a cult following, rather than a mainstream one. At least my favorite of the bunch got a remake, and it's making this guy one happy gamer!
Played up to Snowhead at the weekend. Great version, tarted up graphics and some interface improvements too.
It changes some things for the better to make it more user friendly without making it easier, to substantially change the game.
I made it to the first dungeon this weekend. I love how you truly have to earn your way into them. I miss that kind of challenge.
I feel like the game only properly starts after the first dungeon is done. I've played this game so many times I feel like I'm on cruise control a little.
Anyone tried any of the arrow/aiming games? Gyros are so much better than stick aiming. I got the heart first go on both.
Am I the only one here who only played this game once, on the N64?
Maybe.^
Anyone else notice, above the Goron entrance there used to be a dude or sign saying that you have to ground pound to open the door and it's not there anymore?
I love how they have remodelled some shops and how you can hold L and move the 3DS using the gyros to look about.

Nope. I played it just the one time. I actually tried to start it up one more time years later when Nintendo did the Gamecube was bundled with the Zelda collection, but unfortunately I ended up selling it almost as soon as I got it. I'm trying to get into it again though. We'll see if it happens.
I'm actually trying to get all the fairies this time, it's pretty rough in parts. Had to get this hidden chest in Snowhead that was pretty hairy. After I completed the dungeon everything was rejigged regarding the central column. In the end I had to take a leap of faith at a very awkward angle. Very tricky but satisfying to nab it.
They also put a boss warp in each dungeon? So I'm guessing it will be easier to get spring back by just re-doing the boss in snowhead.
I thought time stood still while you were in dungeons in the N64 version.

That's how I remember it as well.
They probably needed more lessons on birth control.
I'm constantly hearing this music in my head. Time to trade in something and get this game.
