... In your country or elsewhere, anywhere.  In any sport.

The team I spend the longest time watching or following news on is Chelcea Football Club, in the English Premier League.  The reason being that when I first moved to the UK in 1997 I was staying in West London (sort of equidistant between Stamford Bridge (Chelsea stadium) and Craven Cottage (Fulham stadium).  I chose Chelsea.

I vaguely support Hibbernian FC in the Scottish Premier League.  Don't care much for football teams elsewhere.

In the US, I like three teams (in three different sports).  When I was a youngster I loved basketball.  I was also big time into grunge at the time, and Seattle was where it was at.  So the Seattle Supersonics became my NBA team of choice.

Later on I took an interest in football and at the time I listened to a great deal of music from the greater Denver area and Colorado on the whole so the Denver Broncos became my favourite NFL team.

Several years ago, also originally because of its music history (Techno, House, Motown etc etc), I became really interested in Detroit.  It became a place very close to my heart for many reasons besides music.  The social struggles, the riots, the poverty etc  Central to many of those seemed to be the Detroit Tigers.  It helped that at that time, and to this day baseball was my favourite US sport (Irealise it's played in many other places too but it still feels very US centric to me).  It also helps that they are such a great team.  I love the Tigers.

I think that's about it.  Don't care much for other sports or teams and can't be bothered with individual sports.  What about you guys?

Just national teams really.

In football aside from the obvious I like watching Brazil, Italy, Argentina, France.

Rugby I like France, New Zealand, Austrailia.

"Brazil, Italy, Argentina, France." Hrm Unless by obvious you meant england only as all those countries are pretty obvious so to speak. Nyaa

Football:

Clubs:

Internationally:

Manchester United. First match I saw on television involved them and Arsenal. I have good taste so obviously I hated Arsenal immediately.

Australia:

Melbourne Victory. For obvious reasons. I've been to a couple (one) Melbourne Knights games and have always like them, but don't really follow them closely. Richmond Eagles I played for in the U-10 to U-12 so I follow them a bit in the Victorian Premier League.

And obviously Australia, though due to the qualifying battles we've had I have a soft spot for Uruguay too. There's lots of international teams I like, though.

Cricket:

Sri Lanka. My father is Sri Lankan. Plus Australia has been full of arseholes since Steve Waugh retired. Oh well, I like them more now that they don't win anything.

AFL:

Richmond, Western Bulldogs. Poor me, not that I really care much about it.

I pretty much just watch hockey, NHL. My number one team is the Toronto Maple Leafs. I also really like Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa Senators, and Edmonton Oilers. I don't much watch any other regular season sports but I always watch the Super Bowl and on some occasions will watch the baseball World Series final. I mostly just stay up to date on other sports through the various sports news shows.

Not too much of a sports guy, but when I do get to watch some:

Football - Liverpool/Melbourne Victory

NBA - Lakers

And plenty of national teams as well.

There's no particular team I follow year after year, though if a particular team has a lot of interesting players I'll pay some extra attention to them. The one possible exception is the Atlanta Braves in baseball. I grew up watching them suck and then in the span on one year turn in all around and make it to the world series and go on to become a dominate team for over a decade. Truth be told I liked them better when they sucked, but I suppose I even like them a little when they're doing well.

Born and raised in Miami so my favorite teams are:

NFL - Miami Dolphins, my #1 team, my passion, my love and my pain. The one team that that hasn't done shit in my lifetime.

College Football - University of Miami, one of the greatest college football programs in history also my alma mater. My first year in the university we won the national title with the greatest college team in history, since then its been a downward spiral into HELL.

NBA - Miami Heat, basketball is my second favorite sport so of course I follow my home team. Ever since getting Pat Riley the team has been a blast to follow. We had a few crap years in the year but for the most part they have been a great team, of course winning in 06 and now having the most electrifing team in the league.

MLB - Florida Marlins, oh the Marlins. We have had two magical seasons where we won the championship, two years I will never forget. But each time the team was torn apart by management. We have the worst fans, no one goes to the games but somehow they are getting a new stadium next year. They are always a young interesting team to watch but never really go anywhere .

NHL - I rarely watch hockey, but when I do I follow the Florida Panthers, they are terrible though.

Yeah Murph got a raw deal. He was 2 homeruns short of 400. Had he hit that mark he would have made it. Still its hard to believe a 2 time MVP won't be in the hall of fame. I met the guy one time. We were at a Chinese restaurant and he was at the table next to ours trying to explain to one of his young sons that they didn't serve hotdogs.
