IGN AU Wii Sports review is a 6.5 and I'm worried that this might not be the best option.
I am worried about your sanity. I mean you know that Wii Sport will never get high marks, plus you are talking about IGN AU here! The impression from Matt and Neogaf are way more positive, especially sword fighting!
Well even though I enjoyed Wii Sports a lot more than reviews suggested.
I would not have bought it based on those reviews in the first place so I'm glad it was bundled so I could experience it and I'm glad I enjoyed it so much.
Will the game be more fleshed out than the first game? It has many more sports, but does it have deeper options within those modes?
How do you balance a purchase vs several other FULL games that only specialise in one use of the device though?
gamingeek said:One good point is that the Sports resort motionplus bundle is cheaper than the Grand Slam Tennis bunde.
Plus it has skydiving, airplanes, table tennis, and frisbee. Instant buy for me considering how much I played Wii Sports.
then again the wii sports bundle is generally five pounds cheaper than the tiger or tennis bundles and maybe there will be a little more to the minigames than there was first time around. i may eventually get it so i have an extra wm+ but i won't preorder it.
pretty sure i won't be getting either of the tennis game. i hope grand slam at least will sell well enough to make it worth EA's while to make a sequel (even if it doesn't become one of the yearly updated entries in the EA Sports staple) and i'll be happy to get that once they iron out imperfections and get the controls just right
Critically, so far there is no doubt that Tiger Woods has been the most well received.
I've seen Wii Sports for something like £37 online which is pretty good where I've seen Grand slam tennis for £45-50
Is the Tiger Woods bundle even availible in Europe?

yes i bought the tiger bundle for £43 on www.gameplay.co.uk
Personally I might go for Grand Slam Tennis and then Red Steel 2. Then I'll have two for multiplayer on Grand Slam Tennis!
You can do doubles, right?
GG - If you love tennis or golf go for tiger or grand slam. If you don't - go for resort. There's too many positive reviews. And it's going to be a polished nintendo product. If anything red steel still has the question marks about its quality.
I've got tiger. First golf game I've played a lot of since I guess one of the mario's. Great game. Usually I like sports games more arcadey than sim but it's very simple to play. Love the putting.
Rented Grand Slam and might buy that one eventually. I was frustrated with character movement and trying to score against the computer opponents but things improved once I starting controlling movement with the nunchuk. I would have fun trying to master that one. Single player needs to be deeper though. More modes/games like tiger has.

i still very much suck at golf. i haven't got the hang of it yet. can we play disk golf online? that could be fun
Golf and tennis are about the only sports videogames I enjoy.
I like my games less realistic though so that is what is holding me off Tiger woods. I'd rather be bouncing balls off planets and landing them in egyptian temples.
All the games so far with motionplus look appealing, which is why its hard to choose when you can only afford a certain amount. Sports resort has the nod tentatively (even though I hated it before) because it has a number of different applications to test out and because its cheaper.
Red Steel 2 would be a dead cert for me but that is out in November I think.

That's because there's some former Hyper employees there.

No disk golf online unfortunately. Practice the golf a bit if you want - if you make a character you can go into career mode and try the challenges. See if you can do the easy level ones. I got through those without a lot of trouble.

Yeah it's not as fun that way for sure. Reminds me of when I first played ssx tricky and loved it and then tried a more sim snowboard game. Hated it.

Check more reviews out when they come. But if you liked wii sports why the initial hate for resort?
Wii Sports was the test bed, this was Nintendo saying to 3rd parties, look what you can do. Now flesh it out.
I usually expect something more original or higher quality from Nintendo. At E3 2008 they had a piss poor E3 showing apart from Animal crossing. Sports resort was lazy, a sure fire sequel bet with little imagination.
I wanted something more like Mario Galaxy or a Zelda with Wii motionplus.
But the more I've seen of Sports resort, the better it looks. It has 12 games instead of 4 for a start, plus it comes with a neat device.
The original Wii Sports scored about a 6 to 7 in most reviews. It's a fun demo that showed how to use the Wiimote, and ultimately Sports Resort will be more of the same for MP. Fortunately there's a lot more to it. They've doubled the number games, it looks nicer, and for the most part it seems as the skill requirements have been upped a little bit. At the end of the day though it's still mini-games. Really good ones.
I guess my point is if you liked Wii Sports, then it's a safe bet you'll like this just as much. Otherwise go for Tiger Woods.

Tripled the number of games right? 12 vs 4? But golf and bowling are repeats I guess, although re-done.
So far there are 4 games either out or on the horizon.
I haven't decided which is best. I was thinking about Grand Slam tennis but Sports resort became more enticing. Why just play tennis when I can really test out the device with many different functions with sports resort?
IGN AU Wii Sports review is a 6.5 and I'm worried that this might not be the best option. Otherwise, Virtua Tennis is suppossed to be good, but almost unanimously Grand Slam tennis has been lauded as the better game.
But then there is Tiger PGA 10. Which has got many "Best golf game ever" plaudits. But the stony cold realism of its presentation does nothing for the Mario Golf fan.
So what is the best way to try out this device? Wait till November for Red Steel 2?
