Cliffs B,for some reason, seems to have a lot of clout. Maybe because he has a big mouth.
Agreed on Cliffy, if only because now he's left Epic Games and is an independent now.
David Jaffe....could easily be Cliffy B's brother. He's the Twisted Metal, God of War guy.
I like David, but since he quit Sony Santa Monica, yeah his views are kinda fringe compared to his studio/outfit or whatever.
Notch-what's-his-name. Guy got lucky once, now he's seen as some sort of god.

Calling all cars wasn't it?
I was going to say DICE. Because every year there's this big shit about Battlefiled, massive promo, hype, great graphics etc, then the last two games have been like 7.5 games. Why are we so reverent of developers of big whale franchises that aren't even very good anymore? You can add Call of Duty to the list. These are games/studios that have undue prominence in the industry not people.
I guess DICE are now more important when it comes to graphics/engine talk because EA has adopted their engine (poor Crytek). But when it comes to games, I really could not give a toss about them.
Inafune anyone? I think most Japanese devs were sick of him berating them in every interview. Now he's gone independent too, so his views carry less weight. But then again the media has eased up on the Inafune interview masturbation since he left Capcom, I guess so I can't really complain about now.

I was gonna say him too. Only became really popular after everyone else left Capcom and he gained control by default.
Aside from the ones mentioned, I'm so happy I haven't heard a peep from Itagaki in years. He had an ego in his own right, and while I admit it's kinda petty but the way he dressed annoyed me.
Anyone who works at Polygon.
Molynuex (though he has been mostly marginalized these days).
Gabe Newell. Whether he goes off about Windows 8 or swords, everyone gobbles it up.
Reggie -- he's just a PR guy.
Anyone from FROM software.
Peter Moore
Sony Santa Monica
Notch
Steven Spielberg, who has been selling his name on games on and off for years but the games either suck, or as is the case of boom blox are good, but he had nothing to do with it. Fuck off already.
Jim Sterling and commentators of his ilk who idiots parrot/who parrots idiots.
I like Sterling but never knew he was influential or well regarded amongst gamers?
I'm talking about people whose opinion is flouted about and perhaps holds undue weight and is always being quoted.
I'll start with Pachter, he's one analyst among a sea of others who somehow gets his armchair quaterbacking, made into headline news.
