Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume (NDS): "Covenant of the Plume could be considered a mature counterpart to Square Enix's Final Fantasy Tactics A2. This is a polished SRPG that stands out from the crowd thanks to some unique battle mechanics. The enemy AI feels a little lazy at times, but the game still provides a nice challenge. The real draws here are the high-minded script and team-up attacks. There are already a bunch of great turn-based strategy games on the DS, but you should make room for another one." -- IGN.Com's 8.5 / 10 Review.

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure (NDS): "There isn't much more that can be said about Hatsworth without coming right out and telling you to buy it, which is exactly what I'm doing. The game blends the action/patforming genre with traditional puzzle gaming very well, the music, visuals, character design, and story is all completely over the top, and the action elements are a total love letter to dozens of different games spanning a handful of different schools of design. The pop-up combat feels great, and is a perfect way to hide more hardcore elements into an easily accessible game, while upgrades, mobility, level design, and game progression (the introduction of new enemy types, repeating anti-hero "rival" battles, new mechanics, and the like) show just how much detail went into making Hatsworth a game for the ages. There's a bit of a "been there, done that" feeling with some of the platformer elements, but those are easily outshined by an impressive and unique blending of two screens, two genres, and two fully-realized mechanics running in tandem." -- IGN.Com's 9.0 / 10 Review.

Leo are you using GGweekly to find the reviews?

And why do you use IGN as your main source of reviews?

Not generally, no. Sorry to say, most of the time I read GG Weekly, it has articles posted in it that I have already read.

IGN just has reviews before everyone else, for the most part, and (most of the time) they are well written and have a lot of media (pics) I can link to and grab to post elsewhere.

I have GTA pre-ordered. It's really cheap on play, suprisingly. Sometimes they do really great deals for new games. They only charged £19 for De Blob brand new at launch.

I am sort of interested in Rune Factory but there are other games I am more interested in. I already have Madworld pre-ordered, I've decided I'm going to rent RE5 and SFIV. Still have Gears 2 sitting on my shelf.

Rune Factory visuals are really inconsistent to me, I see some screens and some videos and alternatively they either look nice or basic and bad. Really all I would want is a game from them with the same style and charm as Harvest Moon a Wonderful Life.

Well, that's just ME. I tend to seek out information more quickly than the average bloke and I have a bit more time. This site serves it's purpose to many... just not me...

I come here to visit you guys and post my little tidbits, my opinions and a mega topic or two!  Nyaa

I have to say out of all the recent releases the game I am most excited about is GTA Chinatown wars. It looks like a full GTA game in the palm of your hand and not one you've played before like the PSP versions.

I've seen a few new videos and it looks really slick. Virtually all the previews have been really positive too. Screw the big games, I want the little game more than them Happy

I have VP, GTACS and Suikoden on pre-order, I didn't know they were all coming out in one week though.  Time to finish retro Game Challenge.

Yeah nothing that really tempts me this week. Ah it feels a little nice in a way. I'll use this time to get caught up on a few games. I'll be picking up Halo Wars so I have that one to look forward. I may want to pick up FEAR 2 as well.

Run Factory is tempting (on prettiness alone) but Madword and Deadly Creatures are more tempting (on prettiness alone).

Rune Factory!!!  Boo-Yah!!!  Unfortunately I don't have a penny to my name right now and I don't even have the time to play it since I wasn't able to touch MadWorld all weekend (and really have barely scratched the surface with We Ski & Snowboard.  I'm going to have to start beating up elementary school kids for their money again.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (NDS): "I know I'm omitting a ton from this review - there's so much to the design that it's impossible to list everything there to experience. What I won't forget to mention: Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars continues GTA's legacy as the premiere "sandbox" game design. Though it might look like a lot has changed in the move to the handheld platform, more has been added than taken away - there's so much to do in this Liberty City, and it's hard not to be impressed and amazed at some of the things the developer's managed to pull off on the hardware. GTA: Chinatown Wars is easily one of the best Nintendo DS games on the platform." -- IGN.Com's 9.5 / 10 Review.

Suikoden Tierkreis (NDS): "Suikoden Tierkreis may not be a pocket-sized representation of what hardcore series fans have grown to love, but it's still one of the deepest and fully produced RPGs on the system, and a serious showpiece. You won't find runes, duels, or army battles, but Tierkreis is well worth the cash, offering a huge slew of animated sequences, hundreds of lines of voiceover, beautifully composed music, and a battle system that takes inspiration from one of the most fluid and entertaining turn-based attacking out there. The in your face storytelling gets a little obnoxious at times (especially with as much anime-influenced "bad is bad!" fanfare there is), but the overall offering is one that pushes the system to its limits, and includes dozens of hours of great gameplay. The Mark of the Stars system is an easy magic mechanic to get into, the barter/trade system is still in place, auto-battles are fast and cinematic, and there's almost no level grinding to be had, making for a great overall experience. The story is engaging, though never as mature as the original Suikoden titles, and the final product is a game that's ambitious and well-crafted, though also easy enough for newcomers to get into without being intimidated. If you're looking for true Suikoden, I highly suggest downloading the original game in some form if you have access to PSP or PS3, or can find the original – expensive – version on PSX. If you want a great DS RPG, and don't mind that it's not the true Suikoden many of us have grown up with, Tierkreis is still very much the real deal. You'd be hard-pressed to find a DS game as well produced, beautiful, or polished as this." -- IGN.Com's 8.8 / 10 Review.

Rune Factory: Frontier (Wii): "I’m hoping this is the beginning of big things for the Rune Factory franchise on Wii, as the series has made a great debut on Nintendo’s console with Rune Factory Frontier. The visuals are beautiful, the world itself is well-crafted, and the design is as deep and addictive as the best titles in the Harvest Moon/Rune Factory series. The designers could certainly be nicer to players in the future, making it easier to figure out where to get the starting items and exactly what’s needed to expand the story, but as far as “do anything” gameplay goes, Rune Factory dominates on Wii. Everything from farming, fishing, forging, dungeon crawling, medicine making, mining, and cooking could be used as a key form of income, and it all leads to a simple – but fun – dungeon crawling experience complete with a handful of locales and bosses. You may want to keep a guide handy for some of the odd moments in the game, but it should in no way discourage you from picking this one up. The Rune Factory franchise is three for three, and its console debut is one that fans should really get behind. If a sequel comes around with more extravagant features (online co-op, MotionPlus support, real-time weather) and fixes some of the oddities found in this debut offering, Rune Factory could be one of the top franchises on Nintendo’s console hands-down. As it stands right now, it’s still a great package, and one of the deepest RPG’s on the system thus far." -- IGN.Com's 8.3 / 10 Review.
