I watched Blade Runner when I was a teen. I didn't like it. Maybe I should give it another chance now that I'm older.

Don't bother. The second time you only realise that you were right the first time and it lacks anything even resembling depth.

Wow, just saw a small part of Spongebob the movie.

Patrick and Spongebob, were saved by David Hasselhoff. He then swam like a speed boat and after that lauched Spongebob and Patrick to Bikini Bottom with his pecks.

That, my dear, is why the Hoff rules.

It's a lot better than Blade Runner that's for sure.

Last night just to get into the spirit of the Mid-winter festival I watched Disney's production of Dickens' "A Christmas Carol".  I enjoyed the animation and art direction a great deal but I wasn't overly impressed with the voice work.  Disney you know you could have employed any number of competent British actors to voice the (British) characters instead of getting Jim Carrey to do impressions.  So yeah, if you want to watch something festive you can do a lot worse than this.  Should be especially good for those of you with youngins or with family visiting etc...

I will see that Jim Carey Christmas Carol eventually. I liked the Polar Express.

I saw:

It was okay, nothing special. It's treading water, but enjoyable water. Same goes for Toy Story 3.

Saw

IP Man 2.

It was decent fodder. Not as good as the first movie and not as good as something like Fearless. It doesn't have as engaging a story or scenarios as the first movie, the stakes are far lower and the film turns into Rocky 4 halfway through.

Complete with countdowns and caricature villains and well meaning speeches at the end. It's really comically patriotic and its depictions of the British villains are snarling and badly acted caricatures.

But, it features Sammo Hung and he is pretty badass in this movie and still has the moves. Shame that the final conflict isn't between him and Yen.

Also watched this.

Really good movie, I was pleasantly surprised at this movie and was very glad I imported it.

It's consistently inventive and entertaining all the way through. Great special effects, some epic moments like a flying kick to a deers face. The plot has enough surprises and revelations to last through the whole movie.

It's basically a cop movie, take  US cop movie, set it in ancient China and in a realm of ghosts and weird creatures and strange medicines. The action choreography is great, even though this is a style I usually steer away of, the whole mystical using hair as a weapon, or doing all sorts of improbable jumps, somehow they do it well enough for it to seem like a thoroughly modern take on it all.

This film, viewed as pure entertainment has it all, the pacing is right on the money too. This is about the best Tsui Hark film I have seen, he's the director of the Once Upon a Time in China trilogy and the Blade film about the one armed swordsman.

Lastly I saw this.

It's.... ehhhhhhh. Well I should put it in context, I watched the entire TV series of Avatar: The Last Airbender which is a great series overall.

I heard this movie was really, really bad so I went in with rock bottom expectations. So, given those expectations and all the negative press about the movie I came away finding it.... okay. For the most part.

It's perhaps being critically mauled a bit unfairly, it's entertaining enough. The biggest problem is that they try to shove an entire seasons worth of story into one movie. You have sections that were whole half hour episodes in the series being told via 15 second bits of narration which is really sloppy. The casting is pretty bad too.

Avatar is set in asian, specifically Oriental environments with Oriental characters as well as Eskimo type peoples from Siberia. The main cast in the movie has been for lack of a better term: white washed.

As someone who has watched the series, this change seems kinda cheap and sort of.... almost unfair and pandering to the commercial masses. Also, it doesn't help that most of the bad guys are Indians or Arabs, dark skinned vs White good guys. There are orientals in the film, as the Earth Kingdom people but they play almost no part in the movie. There are other things that piss you off as you watch, they mispronounce well known character names for no reason. Saka becomes Soka or Soko depending on who is saying it and Ang becomes Aaaong.

It would be like the LOTR movies having Frodon and Gondolfi instead of the Tolkien names. It's just a pointless and irritating change.

Also there are just huge inconsistencies thrown in, the one black guy in the movie is made into Ang's monk mentor. WTF where did this random African American come from in a tale supposed to be all about Orientals and even if you take the movie casting of whites, indians and arabs, why only 1 black guy? Then they have girls as airbenders in the airbenders monasteries, whereas only male kids are in the cartoon and all with shaved heads. It's like they wanted girls and boys to like the movie so they made sure all the bases were covered.

Then the acting is pretty bad. You have to forgive the main character as finding a kid talented enough to do shaolin martial arts and act must have been tough. Other characters you can't forgive, just middling performances - tepid is the word.

But, in the end the film has some merit, it's sort of entertaining towards the end, it broadly depicts the tale in a fairly accurate way. It has some nice whiz bang effects.

In the end, it's okay.

Sorta.

Saw this.

The poster says its a serious pic, the film is anything but. It's your standard comical Jackie Chan film only much lamer. I turned it off an hour in.

No, I like many of his movies, the Myth is lame.

Saw this:

As a movie, it's okay and entertaining enough. Pretty decent, entertaining fare.

It's like the Halo Reach of movies though. It looks like Halo, it plays like Halo, but it fails to channel the spirit of Halo.

Face is a complete dick in this movie too, they completely failed at nailing his character. Face is a reluctant coward most of the time and a weak charmer at other times. The actor in this movie firstly refused to put a shirt on, then he played Face as some roided up frat boy who whoops, hollers and grins when faced with any sort of danger.

Murdoch was miscast too. Overall it's a decent movie but I don't see much room for future films from the A-Team. Also, why the **** did they keep calling BA Boscoe? In the series maybe once over a zillion episodes did they mention his real name.

Saw this.

Really good stuff. Very entertaining all the way through. They could have called it 80s movie though.

The plot is no great shakes, it's the kind of movie that is usually released straight to dvd only done very, very well. There is too much CGI blood though.
