So I went online on Smash and Sup was playing, but offline and I tried to message him but it was just a miiverse message so he wouldn't even know I sent a message. Seriously Nintendo.

I was keeping an eye on my friends list and noticed that you were playing as well. At one point we were very close to actually playing together, as we were both trying to set up a friends only online match, but alas, the stars didn't align 
If someone is playing online, you can jump straight to their game through the friends list, their 'online' image will change to something akin to 'available to play'. Thing is, I think the other would have to be already playing online. So it's good for joining ongoing matches, but not for setting up a match between 2 people.
