Beat the ocean temple. Loved going underwater on the train and the whip. GODAMN I want a DS Indiana Jones now.

Nice.

But. Really? I've done 3 of 5 dungeons already with what like one part of the tower to do? Seems fairly light.

The train sequences are overlong, it feels like a pointless long loading sequence, even though nothing is being loaded. I got caught in reverse for 10 minutes at one point.

I like the game but PH is better so far.

Anyhow, problemo.

I'm here, I was stuck so I checked a faq.

Tower of Spirits, Part Four
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are Phantom Eyes, which you might remember from Phantom Hourglass. If
one of these sees you, it'll beep and eventually summon a Phantom to your
location. To get rid of these irritations, stun it with your Boomerang and
then slash with your sword. They will come back, however, after being
defeated. Keep in mind that you're safe from them only in the designated safe
zones.

Head to the southeastern safe zone for your first Tear of Light. Use your
Boomerang to target the torch to the west and light the torch in the southeast
corner of the room to reveal a chest.

So here is my problem, I think it might be a glitch. When I try to connect the torch via boomerang, the screen will not scroll far enough for them to connect. Errrrr...

i can't remember that exact spot but neither vader nor i had an issue so you must be doing it wrong.  and shame on you for using FAQ at the first sign of difficulty.  and that is nothing compared to how devious some puzzles in the last parts of the tower of spirits are.

spirit tracks is in a different league to phantom hourglass.  ph had proof of concept mechanics and token simplistic dungeons.  st refines the mechanics and uses it in more meaningful ways for battles as well as dungeon trap solving and the temples are very very satisfying dungeons like what zelda is famous for.

Talking about Phantom Hearts.  I have not had anything to grumble about so far.  Until now.

Crayk, Bane of Courage.  What a boss.  I'd like to to kill him with arrows, but can't move when using the arrows and can't see him.  And he's really fast.  All this after that painfully long dungeon... gah!

Yeah I figured out what I was doing wrong. It's uncharacteristically obtuse for a zelda game. Some the puzzles that is. Usual Nintendo policy is to train you in similar situations before doing the real thing as it were. The puzzles in this game make you think HARD. It's almost like Brain Training, Zelda edition.

And no, PH is better than this so far. It was original, established all the concepts and gameplay systems that Spirit tracks uses. It doesn't have the useless tedium of train riding either and Spirit tracks reuses assets, character models and even textures from that game. It's like a bargain basement production with more clever dungeon design, offset by train riding tedium.

No, no. I mean in that it makes you think, because its puzzles are more obtuse, not spelled out and you can still have that eureka moment. But that has its drawbacks because its like a graphic adventure where there is no direction to solve a puzzle and if you're stuck, you cannot proceed.

I disagree with the Majora comparison, you know as well as I do that it has the bombers notebook, the time changing, the 3 day cycle, the side missions. And that it doesn't re-use assets in a way comparable to PH and Spirit tracks. The real estate in Majora's mask cannot be compared to the bare bones presention of Spirit tracks flat, on rails overworld.

Anyhow out of your list the only part I think is better is puzzles. For me, PH has a better overworld, better bosses, etc.
