IGN said in their "Wii is the New Hardcore" article that, although they applaud High Voltage for trying to push hardcore games for the Wii, they should leave games like this to those who do it better and on the 360/PS3.

We all know Conduit didn't really do to well, but technically the game was incredible, even though the game design wasn't so hot.

I guess my question is, do you think games like The Grinder is necessary and IGN is right? Or do you think what High Voltage is doing is great and they should keep making games like this for the Wii?

It does look cool. But will it really be Left 4 Dead for the Wii?

Right now it's just a rental for me.  I'll take a wait and see approach on this one.

i think the game will be another commercial failure for high voltage but i am selfishly glad they are making it and i think i will enjoy it a good bit.  it will be loved by a select few and it will have some kind of cult level success at best.

left 4 dead, it could not and it will not be but it's a nice looking game in its own right

The game looks fun.  Probably will not be anywhere near as good as left for dead though. Best thing they can do is to downplay the comparisons, otherwise it will always be referred to as an inferior game, even if it does well on its own merits.

Firstly I have to address the Conduit as being technically incredible. It really, really isn't. Apart from the normal mapping there is nothing remarkable about it.

The aiming yes, is probably the best standard aiming on the system, I make the distinction between down sights and standard aiming.

Anyhow as for your question, I dont see the problem with having this sort of game on Wii. There isn't this 100% Wii60 cross ownership for a start and Wii has its own strengthes when it comes to FPS too. Just because there are similar games on other systems doesn't mean that the genres shouldn't cross polinate platforms.

Its like saying that Wii has platformers so no one should bother making 360 ones. PSP has great driving games so why bother with DS ones.

Grinder for all its similarities, isn't Left 4 Dead, its more a continuation of Hunter the Reckoning which the same team made. Plus its going to have a motion + controlled sword and they are actually using the features of the system to good effect.

Despite Conduits sometimes languid level design they had and have the right attitude. If there were better developers with the same frame of mind you'd have some really great exclusive core wii games worth owning.

**Pssst, Ask. The name of the company is High Voltage Software, not The Conduit... You may want to edit your title!**
