Huh? Itagaki made another DS game other than Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword?

Tecmo game only released in Japan. You used the touchscreen to molest people.

Tecmo was in some big lawsuit about a year ago, but I don't really know the details.

I can't help but have a huge smile on my face as I play this game...

*and it's not entirely from the Nummy Jumblies (boobies) seen all throughout*

**after all, that shouldn't effect me in the least... even though it most certainly does!**

...There's just something about this game that screams: "FUUUUUNNNNNNNNNNNNN ! ! !"

For one thing: The whistling, Western type music and cowboy, main character remind me very much of Wild Arms. I loved that game! It was THE RPG to play on the PSOne before VII came along and turned everything into a MoviePG... There's slight interactivity when you walk around the dungeons (you basically swing your sword to break rocks to find stuff and clear your path; you climb ladders by holding "A")... So far there's no puzzles as in Wild Arms, but between the music and the way you explore the overworld, it brings it to mind.

Why does this... ^

...remind me so much of this... ^

...and this? ^

Even more importantly though: The colorful graphics, the cheery nature of it, the non-translation of some things combined with the freakin' HILARIOUS localization of other things... This game recalls the best of Working Designs, and I TOTALLY MISS that company! The phrases the characters yell during battle, whether at the enemies or to each other, have been left in Japanese. I have absolutely no idea what they are saying, but it seems to strangely "fit" the game; I couldn't picture playing it without that now. The storyline, however nonsensical it is so far, is BRILLIANT in the way that it does not take itself serious at all... Where else are you going to be told to "escort the Double D-Bomb Princess back to her castle?"

Yep. That's them errr... HER!

The game kinda just starts out, throwing you right into the middle of you and your split personality, android partner exploring a downed spaceship... You come across a door which is locked. You ask her to crack the security code on it. In all of her android seriousness, she tells you she is unable to --BUT THEN-- the boobs pop out, she gets all flirty and playful and busts the door down barehanded as her other personality literally bursts out of nowhere! It's later in that same ship you meet the "Double D-Bomb" depicted above. You take her to meet your adoptive father and he mistakes her for a prostitute, saying how he didn't recall asking for one that day, but as long as she was there...

It isn't downright sexual but the innuendo flies c-o-n-s-t-a-n-t-l-y and that's something I can relate to in the most minor of ways... *yeah, right!* In a day and age of even shooters becoming drama-fests, million dollar budgets and companies failing due to economic crises, I cannot express how much of a breath of fresh air playing a game like this is! I've said it before, I'll say it again: Atlus is the Square of this generation. It has put out sooo many more high quality games than SE itself, it deserves a place of prominence amongst the big boys!

Is the gameplay linear and somewhat repetetive? Yes. Does it deter me from wanting to play on to see just how crazy things get? Nope. NOT AT ALL. It is a simplified Tales-like game, really using only one button for the attacks (it is the timing of your presses and calling in another party member to take over that round of battle that gives it the slightest of diversity)... but it really doesn't matter! Saying you are playing this game for the in-depth battle system is like saying you are reading Hustler for the articles! Just take it for what it is, play it for what it is, ignore the reviews of the bored, flat-chested 1Up reviewer, and go into it expecting just to have a good time, and I --GUARANTEE-- you will! This game both pokes fun and caters totally to the perverted RPG nerd in all of us in such a way you just HAVE TO love it for it!

LOL.

It sounds awesome.

Fan service is like the only thing that'll get me to play a JRPG anymore. Looks like they made it just for me.

From the Destructoid Preview:

You know what I like about Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier? I like that it makes no apologies at all about what it is or what it does. None at all.

Hell, look at the title. Could it be shorter? Sure. But it's not going to change for you. The game itself, despite being on the DS, does nothing with the touchscreen or any other features except the good ol' buttons. And 3D visuals? Nope. Why be bothered with that when 2D is easier and has worked forever. Even the in-game characters are crass and nonsensical, and they don't care what you think.

See? No apologies. But we like it anyway. Read on to see what we dig about Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier in our preview.

Juggies and Juggles.

That's how I'd describe Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier in two words: juggies and juggles.

Juggies:

If there was ever a game that you could charge with sexual harassment, it would be this title. You might expect that from Japan, but maybe not in a DS sci-fi fantasy RPG. But it's in there. The game starts off by following a futuristic, perverted cowboy named Haken Browning and his well-endowed robo-babe Aschen Brodel. I think it takes about one minute before the first breast joke breaks the ice. Hell, Aschen's power potential isn't even fully unlocked until the top half of her chest is fully exposed. Tasteless? Maybe. Hilarious? Absolutely.

It doesn't stop there. This RPG has as many innuendos as your typical RPG does low-level slimes. And the perverted talk comes easy to Haken as just about everyone he meets has ridiculous boobs. There's more busty party members to come as well as busty enemies, busty bosses...hell, even busty shopkeepers. Of course, Haken does not hesitate to try to put the moves on each and every one of the members of the female cast in between decisive battles and travel destinations. I can only image that the localization team at Atlus had a field day with this one. A tip of the cowboy hat to the team there.

Let's just say this: I'm only about 5 hours in this game, but as a red-blooded male gamer in his prime, I've laughed my ass off dozens of times already. But, as Haken says in the game, it's "not all fun and dames."

Juggles:

I'll be honest: after seeing the flat 2D map screens in the beginning, I wasn't expecting much innovation from this role-playing gamemag-glass_10x10.gif. I was already thinking that funny dialogue wasn't going to carry this game. I quickly learned that this isn't just some mindless turn-based affair, though. The battles are insane. And so much fun.

The goal here is to juggle your enemies, just like you would in a fighting game. Each character has a COM meter. With this meter at 100%, you can pull off all the "skills" you've dropped into a preset list by pressing the A button. Mash it five times and you'll execute the five skills placed on your list. Press it twice and you'll do two. You unlock more skills as the game progresses, and you're free to use any of them at any time.

The real fun comes in how these moves are executed. Once the button is pressed, your enemy is launched into the air and hit repeatedly. Should you hit the A button again with the exact required timing, the first skill is "cancelled out" and a second one is started, chaining the attacks together. You can actually go through all of your skills, and then send another party member in to continue the chain. The goal here is to chain as many hits as possible (and take off as much damage as possible) with good button press timings. Right now I have four characters in my party, and I've chained all of them in a row successfully for 127 consecutive hits and 33,940 points of damage. And I laughed maniacally through the whole chain execution.

On top of all of this battle insanity is a super meter that fills up as you land hits and keep your opponents juggled. Once full, you can trigger an over-the-top super move for each character that is so crazy that you'll just have to laugh at it. What's great is that it can be thrown into the above mentioned chains, letting you inflict serious damage. The charm of these attack lies in the fantastic presentation. You'll get full-blown animated sequences playing over the damage that is going on in the background. There's close-ups of boobs bouncing, thousands of bullets flying, and beams of anime light shining everywhere. Serious gaming sensory overload here.

The rest:

Aside from juggies and juggles, is the rest of the game good? I think so. So far the game seems pretty linear, though there's a cool sci-fi twist to it all. And I think I saw some Gnosis from the Xenosaga series as enemies!

It's still too early to judge, though, so look for our review next month for the full details. But so far? We're really digging Super Robot Taisen OG Saga: Endless Frontier.

Nice thread you've got here. Happy

I want to get the game but unfortunately Atlus tricked me into buying all the other games they've got coming out, so I don't really have the money for this right now.
Which is a shame, because I happen to like Super Robot Taisen, Xenosaga, and boobs.

DC was a nice distraction at the beginning of the year and TWEWY was one of last year's (if not all time) best games.

When I get this much behind a game you --REALLY-- should take notice!

How many BAD games have I made you buy?
