You have not gotten one of the current gen consoles (home and hand) what is your price point for getting one and name the one game you would buy with that console.  I already have them all, so I'm disqualified.

PSP is the only one I'm missing. To be honest, handheld gaming and I didn't click like I was expecting to after I bought a DS Lite, so I wouldn't really know about a price I'd be comfortable with, although as an impulse buy, I'd probably get one at $100.  I'm not even aware of the current DS library, much less the one of the PSP, but I have always wanted to try the SMT games out, so Persona Portable would be a no brainer.

xbox 360 $100.

PSP $30, given that I got the DS for $60.

The only one i'm missing is the X360.  I don't need one, I don't have time for one and when thinking rationally I can't think of a strong enough reason why I should ever buy one.  Which is why I think I will get one along with the dozen or so exclusives worth playing, at some point.  Much like Leo did (because i want to grow up to be just like him) except possibly at a fairly later stage of this generation or even the start of the next.

Ideally I don't want to spend more than 200 euros for a 250GB (or whatever the best model is at the time) and that should include a newly released A-game and also Kinnect (not that I care for that but it might as well be included at no extra cost)

$100 is the "I will buy this no matter what price." That's what got me to pick up my Gamecube, and what got me to buy the PSP (Gamestop had a really good sale that weekend).  Any higher than that and I can always rationalize myself out of the purchase.

Well the only one I don't have is the PSP. Honestly though I can't say that there's a different pricepoint that it would need to be for me to pick it up because I think it's current price is ok. Also there's already a good number of games available for it that I want to play. The only reason that I haven't got one is because I keep spending my money on other things.

If I didn't have a PSP already it is probably the one I'd be most reluctant to get at this point (for more than $99), just because it's likely the new one will be out soon.

You drive a hard bargain sir.  At least you know what games you'd get along with it.

Same for me on PS3. The only way I would ever buy one is if somehow I could magically merge it with 360 to make one console. I just can't own more than 2 consoles per generation. I have this psychological block.

I did not know that about you.  In my opinion there is still enough exclusives to make it worth it to get all of them.

It's not about exclusives or games worth buying as there are a shit load of reasons to buy a PS3. I just, physically feel, almost greedy, buying a 3rd console. It just feels too extravagant to me.

it's not that weird.  they are essentially the same thing.  there is no game on either system which couldn't be on the other one.  it's like being a fan of a particular sport and having to buy two different subscriptions because the teams can't all get along and play together and they have to have two separate leagues.  Or paying for two different TV packages because you can't get all the shows you want in one, for some reason.  I mean, some people do it but most will just choose the one they feel will give them most of what they want and just learn to live without the bits they can't have

A PS3 at $200-250.  I can't believe it's just now getting down to the original price of a PS2.

Yeah and for me I usually own a handheld at the same time, so for instance owning a handheld and 2 consoles there is more than enough stuff to buy that I could never keep up with. I don't want to be buying another system with even more titles I can't play.

Oh, I thought you were taking the perspective of an anti-consomerist (which I was for about 15 years -- so I'm familiar with it).  So I thought you were saying "2 consoles are okay but 3 consoles, c'mon, that's just poor taste!).

I probably have more time to play, so I gotta have all the current consoles and handhelds because I don't want to miss out on exclusives.  I honestly could not choose between not playing Gears of War 2 and not playing Uncharted 2 (for example).  When I only had an N64, it was certainly more managable to be a gamer, and I just trashed the PS1 and Dreamcast games without even considering them (until I bought those consoles).  But now I know too much -- probably because of the internet -- so I can't dismiss a game without having played it.

For me yeah I would feel excessively greedy or extravagant owning 3 consoles but I don't apply that to other people.

I'm the kind of guy that would rather get a cheaper long train journey than an expensive but fast flight.

I look at triple console owners with some envy, but it's not about the cost when I buy items - it's always about whether I need it and whether I would use it.
