Yes brilliant. If the game does not sell, what do you do? Make a more expensive version. Yeah that will work.
Well actually since the game is done porting it over should be cheaper.
Yeah if by porting you mean a direct port. If they have to do the HD assets over again, then it is going to cost them. And if it was that easy to make a HD version of the game, why did they not develop the game as a 360/PS3/Wii multi-platform?
*prays it's this year*

Isnt this rumor around cause there is some new management and they want to port over all their games to the PS3/360.

i remember reading that article too that somebody posted up on ggweekly. but it seemed more like wishful thinking on behalf of some fans than anything even remotely official.
iga is right in that such a port wouldn't be straight forward at all and in all likelihood would be rather costly (as everything would have to be re-rendered for HD). so unless the game is a crazy hit the chance of that happening are slim and none. personally i don't see it happening even if it is a hit, but i guess i can never say never.

Yeah depending on how they did the assets the first may or may not require them to do them again. Perhaps they already started sometime during the process of making this game to go multiplatform and the other versions just aren't ready yet so they're being a bit vague in order to maximise sales of this version first. It's always so hard to tell these days.
Dvader said:Awesome post Leo. I have no money I have to wait regardless.
Yeah same here. I'm going to have to wait a little longer to get this game regardless but I definitely do want it. However if I do start to hear rumblings that the game will be released on the other systems then I'm going to want to wait and get one of those versions instead.

For me it's the tentacle sex.

Firstly, I hope you both die in a Hobo embrace.
Secondly its all speculative and when asked if there would be an HD version their answer was "Not anytime soon."

Yes it was very speculative. If you read the actual article is was the writer hoping and inferring things that Marvelous never said.

Worst game journalist ever. Read his Metroid Prime 3 preview.

Yes, I am trying to compel people to buy this game, but there's no need to refer to me as a god...
...a demi-god maybe...
**Oh! I'm just so modest!**

I do remember that controversy.
rragnaar said:I'm not a game programmer, but from my limited knowledge doing graphic design work, I have a hard time believing that the art assets for Muramasa were created in standard def. Just about anything I make here at the shop is 'HD' enough for a console. In any case, my copy should arrive today, can't wait to check it out.
I'm not sure. I'm no graphics artist myself, but I have worked with images in terms of scaling down--for example the favicon for the site--and simply resizing doesn't always have great results. To get a sharp image, often you'd want to create the image itself for the resolution you want. The original design may be larger, but once resolution is decided, I think perhaps a new, from scratch design may be created. Just speculation on my part, though.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileIt is DEFINITELY less complex than Odin Sphere. You don't have to plant seeds in the middle of battle and wait for them to grow, for example.
Believe it or not, the game it plays most closely to is Smash Bros. Brawl! On the CIassic Controller "b" is attack, "y" is Special Attack. "x" uses items and "a" examines your surroundings. "L" switches swords (you can carry up to 3 at a time) and "R" switches your items.
You can do a three-hit combo by repeatedly pressing "b" and (in a very Brawl like fashion) pressing "b" while you're running gets a different attack than if you hold "b" then press in a direction. Yes, you press "Up" to jump too, just like Brawl. Pressing Up while you are in the air Double Jumps. Pressing Down while you are in the air with "b" does a downward strike.
For all intents and purposes this is a cIassic side-scrolling brawler with light RPG elements and 108 swords to forge and tinker with. Finding the best swords to use in the different battles and the strategic use of your specials --and-- knowing when to switch to different swords is just as important. It is simple, cIassic gameplay, wrapped in jaw-dropping, beautiful graphics.
Two different characters have two different story lines with different bosses and endings. Their paths do cross and I believe forging swords does depend on alternating your playthrough between the two of them. You can also change difficulty on the fly, if you so decide. I haven't run into too much trouble yet, playing on Hard... The only time so far was when I ran into the ex-fiance of the Female Lead character; he knew she had been possessed and was willing to kill her to save her; the sword battle between he and I lasted about 5 minutes a try --and-- I must have fought him 8 or so times! I refuse to make the game easier though! I'm trying to make it as old-school as possible!
The comparisons you've heard to Metroid and Symphony of the Night are pretty far-fetched though. Obtaining different swords unlocks different colored-barriers like they were keys, but you don't learn special moves are techniques like you did in either of those games. The only real comarison I see between this game and SotN is: When it comes to shock value, the fluidity of these graphics is as much of a jump above everything else as SotN was in it's day.
You gain more health and can forge better swords as you gain Experience and Spirit (obtained by eating); THAT'S the extent of the RPG-ing.
Beautiful graphics and simple but addicting gameplay is what to expect with this game; do that and you will NOT be disappointed!
Speaking of NOT being disappointed: Even with graphics surpassing Odin Sphere, I have not come across a single instance of Slowdown yet! THAT'S an achievement!
