Right I played till the end of the Deku tree.

Visually it looks great. Without 3D you get better aliasing which means smoother edges, but the 3D effect is so good I can't see anyone choosing this option.

The motion controlled first person aiming works perfectly, I know it looks gimmicky but its actually awesome and quite immersive too.

The touch screen is great and gives you a little insight into how the Wii U controller might make gameplay more enjoyable. It has easy touch screen icons to use the menus and equip weapons, it even has a couple of assignable buttons, sort of like SF4 3DS which had 4 touchscreen buttons.

The game hasn't really aged, I know what famitsu meant when they said that it feels like a new game. Nintendo games from the SNES era, for their top tier titles, they are such classics that you can go back and still see what was great about them. The deku tree dungeon as small and simple as it is pisses all over any dungeon in Okami.

Grezzo have done a really good job on the visuals, they are someone inbetween an N64 and GC in quality but the 3D adds a lot, making it seem like a little fantasy world exists inside the screen. There is an occasion and very slight ghosting of navi though, you might not even notice it unless you look real hard. Grezzo seem to have touched up, if not remade, everything in the game. It's less of a port and more of a remake in graphical terms. Everything, the characters, every room, every item seems to be polished and looking brighter, crisper, more detailed and just more vibrant than before.

When I heard that they were just going with age old N64 midi music I was miffed, upon hearing the music in the game again I am kinda happy they kept the old tunes and jingles. It's part of what makes the game a nostalgic joy.

The game itself is the same, same layout, items etc. So it's not a new experience by any means - if you are getting this game you are getting it for two things, improved visuals and 3D. It's sufficienlty graphically overhauled to be worth it though and I hear that you get a free Zelda orchestra invite if you buy the game and if you register the game at the nintendo website I hear you get a free music CD.

The only complaint I have is with the 3DS analogue slider, it feels good but now is the first time it has had a game that it could be tested with. It doesn't feel quite right but that maybe because grezzo stuck to the same controls and animations and speed of the N64 link. I will have to check and let you know. Link seems to go from walk to sprint too fast.

"Some items, like the slingshot and bow, even benefit from the addition of motion controls. Whipping out one of these weapons snaps the camera into a first-person view. All you have to do is angle your 3DS to set up your aim and fire. These controls are not only quicker than the circle pad (you can turn motion controls off in the options menu), but they are also a lot more fun. Plugging a target from across the room with an arrow is more satisfying when you physically aim the 3DS, and looking around your environment (a crucial skill in Ocarina of Time 3D) is much quicker and easier. The only caveat is that this kind of aiming can cause the 3D effect to go out of whack, but this is easily solved* by moving your head in sync with your arms or just flicking the 3D slider to off."

  • From the earliest of announcements for the system itself, I questioned how motion-controls and keeping the 3D in its sweet-spot was going to work. Time and again, my doubts have been justified.
  • I did pre-order it. Why not? Not likes there's much else to play. Maybe this time I'll actually finish it? I am somewhat excited to see the game re-imagined in 3D, but am perplexed by curious game design decisions.

*Yah, that's practical. If you're going to go to all that trouble, why not just use the circle pad and button? Defeats the purpose of having it on the 3DS, doesn't it?*

Having played up to Zora's Domain I have to put this out there: the graphics are better than Dreamcast. The colour is searing, it's crisper, it runs at a better clip. It really is a big graphical improvement. When the owl took me down off death mountain and the camera swooped over the mountains it looked awesome. The interiors are much more detailed and you can alter the camera position. It's a really big improvement Grezzo have done here, not just a few technical improvements they have literally improved the look of virtually everything I can see.

Anyway, I cannot believe, I have played this game like 4 times before and I am stuck at King Zora who won't shift his fat ass off his perch. I thought I remembered that he wanted a fish so I assed about to get a bottle then scrounged the rupees to buy a fish. Then he had no reaction. All the music I played to him does nothing and he wont even take Zelda's note. I need to go rescue his daughter but I don't know what I am doing.

Oh yeah one thing that I like about this game is that it's frugal with hints, you have to just play it old school and work things out for yourself by looking for visual and audio cues. It's very old school and very rewarding because it rewards experimentation. Oh and in the Lost woods they have altered the sound levels so its easier to hear when the lost woods music is fading in and out. Nice touch.

Although I have to say that I disagree with all the 10/10 reviews. I mean back in the day it acheived a 10/10 when it actually meant something - it was an era defining game. Now, it's still a good game but it has been surpassed so I'm not sure it should be so highly rated.

GG you do realize this is a game everyone has played right? What spoilers. Nyaa

The game does look amazing and moves so smoothly. I love the 3D effect in the forest with all the fireflies.

Leo yeah moving the DS around causes the 3D to go nuts if you dont move your head with it. zit could be a pain but its so much fun to aim that way.

I saw the Robin's 'Epic Beard' Williams commercial again. Here in Holland we have two commercials and they are both 10 times  more awesome then the one you get in the US.

Been playing Twilight Princess again to scratch my Zelda itch. Have finished it again, will try now to collect everything. Even found secrets that I never found before. The game is full with secrets, did you guys find the grave of the cursed swordman that teaches you the special moves?

Also the dungeons are epic. Snowpeak Ruins, City in the Sky. Some of the best dungeons ever. Also they are all good. In Oot you start with jumping through a web, in TP you have to save motherfucking monkeys in a dungeons that is fully made out of trees.

Twilight Princess gets way too much hate. It does not deserve it. Okami however....

Damn TNT's idea of limited commercial innteruption is wayyyyyyyy different than mine, it was like an hour of show and an hour of commercials. If thats limited I hate to see full.
