Giant bomb:
"It's not a game for people who like to grit their teeth in white-knuckled frustration, but rather the perfect play experience for people who like to kick back and have a breezy time playing around and seeing all the aesthetic delights a game like this can offer up. I consider myself a fairly cynical person by nature. That Kirby's Epic Yarn left me a smiling, cooing, mushy-brained mess of happy by the end of it says an awful lot about how well-constructed and almost painfully pleasing this game is to play. "
Destructoid:
"Kirby's Epic Yarn is an absolute delight. Oozing cuteness at every turn, from the wonderful animation to the gorgeous music, this is a game that should have pride of place in any game collection. It's a simple little title, free of high-tech gimmickry and gritty realism. It's a good old-fashioned platformer that manages to be endlessly rewarding and only disappoints in that more incentive to succeed would have truly perfected the title. Even without that, the fun is its own reward, and Kirby's Epic Yarn stands as one of the very best Wii games of the year.
Also, Kirby is made of Goddamn string!"
Gamespy
"it's just really enjoyable. My sense of wonder and discovery as I explored Patch Land was palpable; every hidden door, warp pocket, and narrow tunnel (which Kirby must navigate as an unraveled piece of thread) led to another new, exciting, and intricate visual reward. As short as my time in Patch Land was, I savored it, exploring every last nook and cranny I could find. In my heart of hearts, I wish the game had been longer, though I have no doubt we'll be seeing a sequel to this little stealth masterpiece (hopefully sooner and not later). Kirby's Epic Yarn is, at its quilted heart, an enjoyable 2D platformer that anyone who understands the language of fun can pick up and play, and it has an aesthetic that you can marvel at -- stress-free -- from beginning to end. That makes me happy, and I can't ask for much more."
I don't want to over-use this phrase --BUT-- THIS is one of those CHRISTMAS MORNING type of games!
Truth be told, I've been a bit worried and pre-occupied lately, waiting for my Street Test on Thursday. THIS was the game that brought a smile to my face, in spite of myself!
I looked for Euro release dates, March 2011 at gameplay
Then 12th November 2010 somewhere else. Truthfully I wasn't interested in this game at all, but the reviews all seem so positive and it seems very cheery. Not sure when/if I pick it up, but I will have to try it eventually.

So should I not play it till Christmas?
Suit yourself...!
...but if I were a kid, getting this game on X-Mas morning, it would be the kind of game where I would turn on the Christmas Tree lights, get into my footie pajamas, light a fire in the fireplace and play allllllll day long with a beaming smile on my face!

I would love to do that. But with my family..... ugh. Not going to happen.

this was the exact thing i thought of when seeing screens and reading reviews. i remember being made happy by playing Mario Galaxy on christmas morning a few years ago ... it seems exactly that kind of game.
... sadly it will be next christmas for us european sons
I just picked this up and I'm loving it. There are some gameplay innovations that look like they came straight from a Paper Mario game. Was I disappointed by the low difficulty of the game? Yeah, a little, but the gameplay and aesthetic style more than made up for it. I can't wait to see what is in store.
Funny thing is my son was enthralled by this game. I think he loves the music the best and startred dancing what appeared to be an Irish jig during some levels.
Yay!

Pics or it didn't happen!
Travo -- does it have difficulty settings or just one default difficulty level?
