Same here.

Bah! I will have 100% completed it by then!

Instead, I will be eating lots of Christmas ham, stuffing, mash potatoes, deviled eggs, and egg nog. After which, I will be taking a long winter crap. Happy

Fixed. LOL

Don't ignore Yoshi's Island though or the DS Yoshi's island game or NSMB DS.

The Yoshi games are so different though I don't even put them in the Mario category.  Not saying that in a bad way mind you, as I think they're some of the best platformers ever made.  But the way they handle give the games a very distinct feel unique to themselves, particularly Yoshi's Island DS.

As as far NSMB Wii goes, I love it.  I think SMW is still the best game of the series, but this is neck and neck with SMB3.  That's a decision that will have to come with time though, kind of like Iga said.  As far as difficulty though, the hardest levels in this game are harder than the ones in SMB3, but still not as tough as the Special Levels in World. . . and of course most of Lost Levels still kick every other Mario Level ever made in terms of difficulty (which is not always a good thing though).

I say it is better than SMB3 just for the simple fact that you can replay levels and find secret exits.

Need to replay SMW again to see if it is better.

Agreed. Yoshi's Island is a completely separate series, IMO.

Well the sub title of Super Mario World 2 was put there by NOA for marketing reasons. It was never called like that in Japan from my understanding.

i'm also very much looking forward to playing NewSMB.  i thoroughly enjoyed the DS game and i expect this to be many times better from what everyone is saying.  i agree with what yoda is saying about there not being any substance in the criticism of it being ... more 2D platforming in the tradition the series established long ago.

just out of interest, how do you guys rate the gameboy games?  i really loved super mario land and super mario land 2, and played both many times over

As for the Japanese (on the front of the box), it says:

Top Left - Super Famicom
In White - Super Mario
Multi-Color - Yoshi Island
Bottom Right - Batter Back-up, Super FX Chip

It's title in Japan was pretty close: Super Mario: Yoshi's Island.

 See? I was right Nyaa

Check out the Japanese box art of Super Mario World

There are still some people on Neogaf that want Super Mario Bros 4. It has already been released ages ago.

I have the JP version of Yoshi's Adventure boxed if anyone wants a photo of that to prove something or other.  I kinda lost track of the thread there.

Wow. #3? Then I may as well buy it now through the VGPress Store.

"This item is not available for purchase from this store.
Click here to go to Amazon to see other purchasing options."

Bummer, looks like I'll have to buy it direct.  But you think that highly of it eh?

EDIT: Well that's f'd up. I went to buy it from amazon.com but it looks likr their stock is depleted. hey only have it from private parties (starting at $67).

As I said before its a 9 level game for sure. But there is a HUGE gap between SMW and NSMB Wii. If allowed Yoshi's Island should be in between.

Yes I love the second best platforming franchise in gaming, I am so weird.

And yes there is a gap, while it is true that NSMB does many new things like the way it handles total darkness and some of the cool uses of the wiimote it still plays things safe. One of the best ways to see this is play one of the airship levels, clearly it is trying to be like SMB3 but take almost any of the SMB3 airship levels and they are flat out better, plus it did it first. The game still feels safe, which is something Galaxy didn't feel. Now the star world in NSMB is brilliant, if all levels were that wild then I would agree with you.

Sonic used to be 2nd best. Those days are long gone.

SMW and SMB3 had filler levels. Levels that had nothing special. All NSMBWii levels are distinct from each other, so far. Things are not repeated. And the airship levels had way more stuff happening in NSMBWii than in SMB32.

For instance there is only one level with bloopers. Just once, then they dropped it and used other enemies. This is done in every level. The boss fights are better also. So far I say NSMBWii is better than SMB3, but I will have to play SMW again to be certain. SMW has a much better world map. SMB3 and NSMBWii don't have a world map. All levels are separate.

P.S. watch the spoilers

P.P.S. yes, you are weird DKC2 hater

My point exactly, there is no huge gap. And where you put the order of them is open to debate.
