Any stories?

For the last two weeks I've gone from, "Cool, it's already Wednesday" to "Man! It's only Thursday?".

As a kid I dug Thursday. It was PE day and a bit of a casual day for schoolastic demands.

Then as a worker, I did not really care. I usually preferred the coming of the work week.

As a retiree I did not notice what day it was. I honestly did not care or notice.

Now, I cherish the weekend and it;s coming.  This song has added meaning:

Beyond deliveries I follow a two day week. If you want an exciting, fast paced lifestyle, then I recommend it.

My weekend is basically whenever I am home, which is like never right now.

It's always been pretty much the same for me during term time.  Basically just living for the weekend.  Friday is fun mostly because of the anticipation, I'm usually too exhausted to do anything fun.  Saturday is great: sleeping in, leisurely brekkie, cooking, reading, gaming, watching football, going out with friends etc.  Sunday more of a lazy comedown day.  Good for gaming and watching nature documentaries but a bit depressive due to the prospect of the new week at work.  The week at work is affected by that same dynamic with the two ends of the spectrum being:  Monday drags, Friday flies.

I'll give you a story about days of the week. Back in 2001 to 2003 I worked at a spam company. We were a semi-legitimate spammer which meant we worked in a nice office as opposed to someone's basement. Anyway different days of the week we'd have different vendors come by offering different things to the employees.

  • Fridays the flower guy showed so we could bring a little something home to our signficant others without having to make an extra stop.
  • Tuesdays we had a carwash guy show up to wash the grime off of our cars.
  • Wednesday the drug dealer showed up and sold cocaine so that everyone could make it to end of the week.

Not joking about the coke. For half of the C-level executives I'm pretty sure that's the only way they could keep track of what day it was. By the time the company folded at the end of 2003 three of the 6 higher-ups ended up having to go to rehab.  That being said I've never had more fun at a job.

Yep. It was pretty hardcore. Those carwashes were $60. They did some serious detailing.

I remember office carwashes.  So convenient.  Now I am in Australia I never wash the car.

Yes but if you've got as much street cred as I do, you call cocaine "white girl." And then you have White Girl Wednesdays, which really has a much nicer sound to it.
