Like the PS2 being more powerful than Xbox and Gamecube etc?

And are there any gaming myths which continue to be misrepresented today?

I used to believe that the PS1 was more powerful than the N64 we even had arguments in elementary school about it. Once I got an N64 I realized I was wrong and never really played my Playstation after it because I thought the N64 was so much better.

Also before I joined Gamespot I thought the N64 won it's generation because I was the only person I knew with a Playstation everyone else had N64s.

I don't know anyone who thought the PS2 was more powerful than the Xbox. Gamecube yes...hell people thought that Dreamcast was more powerful than the Gamecube. Still to this day, people think the PS2 was more powerful than the Gamecube. It's understandable though...it wasn't THAT much weaker and it had a ton of amazing games on it that pushed it well beyond what was thought it could handle.

I used to think the PC was just for nerds and that all the cool people played on consoles. Then when Crysis came out I realized how badass the PC could be. Before that I just didn't care much for PC because there were too many compatibility issues and it was too difficult to hook one up to a TV. Crysis and Steam really turned things around for PC gaming.

I could have sworn that the cake was real though? I saw it at the end.

When I was a kid, I used to believe that Atari 2600 Pac-Man and E.T. were fun games. Thankfully, the internet set me straight on those . . . three decades later. Nyaa

When I first read about the 32X, I thought it was an awesome idea. I bought into Sega's BS marketing hook, line and sinker. Why buy an expensive next-gen system when I can just upgrade my Genesis to amazing super 32-Bit power?! Seriously. I believed. Sad Still had some fun with it, though (Virtua Racing, Doom, Virtua Fighter).

I thought for sure the Playstation was going to fail. I mean, how could it succeed against the mighty Sega and Nintendo? 3DO, CD-I, and Jaguar failed, so will the PSX.

Do we have any people here to who used to or still believe that the Gamecubes 1.8gb discs meant it couldn't have big games?

Or that GC was for kids because it had a handle? I wish more consoles had handles FFS.

I always found that weird, because PS1 had so much pixellation to it. And at the time everyone was so obsessed with the FMVs instead of realtime graphics.

I think Rebel Strike on GC held the record that gen for the highest amount of pixels pushed.

I remember someone at EGM saying the GC had a handle and didn't even need it yet the original Xbox needed two.

I was shocked when I got a GCN and it was that small.

My one friend took his Game Cube to school because they were having a Super Smash Bros. tournament. It it in his locker comfortably without having to be turned on its side. Xbox or PS2 you would have to stand it up on its side and even then the Xbox wouldn't have fit in the locker.

The lockers were only 1' wide if that.

Come to think of it, all Nintendo's consoles have been at least small enough to pack in a bag and transport from house to house. I tried it with my Xbox and Xbox 360 and they are heavy as fuck and difficult to do the same. I took my Xbox OG into London once for repairs and since I had to lean to one side to offset the weight of it, my back was killing me by the time I got home and I was sweating a little.

My friend took his OG Xbox to another friend of ours house. He had to ride his bike there. He had trouble because he had to balance the bag on his handle bars.

That video games age, and then I agreed with Tom Towers. That's a load of bullshit.

Video games are a story telling medium. Also bullshit.

People agreeing with me is in and of itself a video game myth.

I would have to say I disagree with you on this.
