Don't give me that shit.

I am a sadist; sadists enjoy black comedy. Pretty sure you attempted to deflect the issue in the same manner in the past. Unless that's deja-vu.
Now for the evidence that you appreciate black comedy.
Holy fuck! I just saw The Raid, what an action movie! It is probably the first action movie to out action me, it was almost too much. I grew up on old fashion US action movies where the heroes are wise cracking bad asses and stuff, here the characters have little to no personality but they kick so much ass. The story is very basic, its a raid on one of the biggest drug dealers in the city's building. This building houses a ton of criminals and is basically his fortress. Everything goes to shit when the cops get in and what you get is non stop fury of fights. These are the best martial arts fights I have seen in a movie in a long time, with little to no wire work, just pure talent. It is shot so well, it has some shaky cam but done correctly and it always makes sure you can see the action and tell what is going on. Wow, you have to exhale when this one is over, just intense as hell. Go see it.
Buffy vs. Black Widow
Joss Whedon described the scene in vivid detail:"Buffy would go easy at first, but as soon as Natasha popped her with a Widow Sting, she'd start bringing some slayer brawn to the fray. Natasha's fast, but a couple of good connects and she's wobbling, possibly something broken -- she whips out her glock and now Buffy's dodging -- right where Natasha wants her."
It goes on like this for a few more lines -- an avalanche of tumbling barrels gets involved -- until Whedon reaches the epic conclusion:- 20th Century Fox/Marvel
"Natasha, struggling to stay conscious, says the fight's over. Buffy agrees, but Natasha explains: She poisoned Buffy hours ago. That waitress that brought her salad...? Natasha smiles. The poison is dormant -- 'til it's activated by adrenaline. Buffy's eyes narrow. 'Too bad I didn't use any.' Wham! Natasha's out for the count, and Buffy's heading -- slowly -- to Willow for a mystical cleanse."
I thought you boys might want to check out the Catwoman promo pic.

I saw Robert Rodriguez's Machete last night. Reminded girlfriend that she liked From Dusk Till Dawn to try and get her more into Robert Rodriguez
Surprised it took me this long to finally get to watch it as Rodriguez is one of my favourite movie makers. I love how he does everything himself in all his movies, love how he uses practically the same cast every time (comprising of a bunch of very good mates of his: Machete, Sex Machine, Cheech Marin the old guy who does many parts every time) and old actors no one expects to see dug up (in the instance of Machete there's Steven Segal, John Fahey and Don Johnson) as well as other no one really expects to see (Robert DeNiro, Jessica Alba, Lindsay Lohan?.
Rodriguez has always been very vocal on his admiration for Danny Trejo and he included him in practically every movie he made since El Mariachi, and apparently he wrote this movie for him a long time ago. It was also one of the 6 fake trailers they put together for the Grindhouse project with Tarantino. At first is was never to be made, then it was going to be a DVD only bonus movie ... in the end it got its very own theatre release, and for good reason in my opinion.
Machete has all of the elements of a good Rodriguez film. Low budget, b-movie aesthetics, cheesy dialogue, over the top choreographed violence, exploitation, fun ... the lot. It's a lot of fun to watch even if it's not up there with the very best of Rodriguez's films. Because a simply good Robert Rodriguez movie is more fun than the best movies most other people can make
I wanted to like Machete, and there were definitely parts of it that were fantastic, but when it started with the social commentary about immigration it sort of lost me. Rodriguez is one of the best action directors in the industry today, but his writing is a little heavy handed and kind of takes away from the fun that's going on when he tries to push a message.
Has anyone seen Cabin in the Woods yet? I'm conflicted by the movie. It is without question the most original horror movie I've seen in years, and that's saying a lot given that I see a ton of horror movies. The idea of the movie alone makes it worth seeing. I think the execution got tripped up. It gets a little too tongue-in-cheek at times and I think that sort of hurt the last half hour. Still, if you're the type of person who complains there aren't enough original ideas in Hollywood go see this and shut the hell up.
I just thought it was way too gorey and too ridiculous (in a good way) for it to be taken seriously on that level. I doubt he was intending to push a message or agenda in any serious way, just seemed like a decent context and setting on which to unleash carnage and mayhem and a way to poke fun at both sides (even if not equally). It was all just fast-paced, bloody, violent fun, didn't personally feel it get heavy with the race relations and border control politics even if Rodriguez makes no secret of where his heart lies

Yeah that's just my point. It really was, and then he tried to add that to the movie and it just made me go..... "why even bother?" Anyway yes it was a fun movie. Glad I saw it, but it's the kind of movie I doubt I'll ever watch again.
By the way I've met Danny Trejo at the horror convention I go to every year. Cool guy and shockingly friendly. Really short though too and that kind of threw me off. Rodriguez always makes him seem like he's a towering monster.
You've met so many legends man.
I think even in the movies there are times you can tell Danny Trejo must be short but yeah Rodriguez does that

But in the end it's not really saying anything at all because they're horror films.

Which is actually exactly what this movie is about. Its genius.
I just saw Cabin in the Woods and yeah most awesome original horror movie idea since forever. It is a very fun, funny movie. I totally agree with Robio, the idea is way better than the movie itself. Not sure what it does wrong, it just never clicks the way the best movies do. But wow I loved what they were doing with the story and the last 30 minutes are so fucking awesome. The trailers have shown you nothing.
As I said. The Cohen Brother comment is further evidence that dark humour just isn't for you.
Out of curiosity what are your favourite black comedies, or films that you like because of their dark humour?
