Yeah but we should be able to resonably extrapolate from the JP price. C;mon, give me your estimate.
They won't go as high as the Wii's launch price, but they're going to make sure they're going to get as much for it as they can. Nintendo has hinted that they've seen how much their consoles have gone on eBay and other places that mark-up the prices substancially. They want that money. So I predict $229 for launch with a very quick price drop after the initial enthusiasm starts to decline and inventory reaches a sustainable level.
I had a discussion with some friends last week on what was the maximum we would pay at launch for it. I said 200 euros. He said he would pay 250
I always factor in the price of at least 1 game. So I guess £250 including a game but that is my upper end and I usually never pay more than £200 for console or handheld.

We'll see. That's the absolute maximum that I'd ever consider paying for a handheld.

Me too. But this isn't what you want it to be, it's what you think they'll do. If it was what I wanted it to be, I'd go for $149.

$229 is a good number. I still think $249 with a quick price drop.
As for home console vs hand console, here in AU Nintendo sells the DSXL for more than the Wii -- do they do that in EU/UK?

Well, I just can't see Nintendo charging more than $200 for a handheld. Then again, I didn't think they'd charge more than $200 for the Wii either, which they did, so I'm probably wrong with the 3DS too.

Interesting, so they are going with their home console price...
I wouldn't be surprised to see Japan get a higher price regardless of exchange rates. Japan has really become a handheld-centric market. That's what they prefer to play so it would make sense to charge them a premium since they'll likely pay for it.
Okay gents, time for some friendly guesses.
3DS pricing is likely to be released in the press conference tomorrow. Want to make some guesses?
I'm going for $249 USD.
