10. Kirby Triple Deluxe -- This is quite literally one of the best side-scrollers Nintendo has put out in years, trumping their own New Super Mario Bros. series! So colorful. So many different types of Special attacks Kirby can absorb. Excellent implementation of the 3D effects. So many new ideas used throughout each and every level. This is to the Kirby series what Super Mario 3D World was to Mario's! The difficulty is classic Nintendo perfection; easy enough for most to finish, just challenging enough to get everything. Any true gamer will really enjoy it! A Smash Bros. like mini game is included, a Dedede rhythm mini-game is too. There's hundreds of key-chains of varying rarities to collect, representing sprites from all past games, including the original. The game is beautiful to look at, perfect to play and addicting enough to get you to hunt down every last collectible. Just think of all the other heavy hitters this game knocked off my list to be here. Yeah, THAT good!

This is now on my "to maybe play" list and I will buy it sometime next year when I am a little less broke (if it's still available as such games have a habit of disappearing).  Kirby handheld games (and epic yarn) are wonderful.

I've always liked Kirby games. They're never giant priorities on my list to play, but whenever I play them I walk away feeling good that I played them. I had completely forgotten about this game though. Glad you brought it up. That being said, Rainbow Curse is still higher up on the list. I will get this in 2015 though.

09. Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor -- The Arkham fighting engine meets one of the most impressive and unique enemy intelligence and hierarchy systems ever devised! Any randomly generated Orc can potentially become your greatest nemesis; you will meet him on the last battlefield before enacting your revenge! This game takes place between the Battle of the Five Armies and the Lord of the Rings saga, so if you are expecting to see sexy elves, blue-eyed hobbits or drunken dwarf bros, you may be a tad disappointed. Also the music from the movies wouldn't have been written yet.  Nyaa  In the place of these slightly homo-erotic elements, you get extreme Orc violence, evil mind control and a story that ends not quite in the way you think it does! They don't call it SHADOW of Mordor for nothing! Awesomely satisfying game!

No, no, no... the game DOESN'T have the homo-erotic elements Vader wants it to have!

You have to watch the movies for things like that!

This is just a game about some serious Orc slaying!

08. Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth -- Persona games usually last around 80 hours. Etrian Odyssey games can last hundreds. What would happen if you combined the two? Better yet, why don't you throw in the cast of both Persona 3 and 4 while you're at it? What you get is a glorious fan service to anyone and everyone that loves hardcore, dungeon-crawling RPGs --AND/OR-- Persona games! The SEES team and the Investigation Team are drawn from their worlds, temporarily putting aside the events of the Dark Hour, Tartarus and the TV World to solve the mysteries of an alternate reality Yasogami High. Shadow-filled labyrinths appear in this world within the high school; getting to the bottom of these, defeating the dungeon bosses and restoring the memories of the two new characters, Zen and Rei, is the central plot of the game. The stories will alter depending if you choose the P3 team or P4 team at first and based on conversation choices throughout game. A touch of Shin Megami Tensei is thrown into the mix for good measure, as the characters can receive Tarot Cards for fighting well, depicting Demons/Shadows. Equipping these gives the characters access to all new Personas and powers. Wouldn't be a Tensei game if you couldn't Fuse these into more powerful forms, opening the possibilities of hundreds of demons and character combinations, on top of an already packed game! The music you love from both games is likely in this one. The menu screens, cut-scenes and artwork all reflect the high-quality you've come to expect from this series. Yes, the characters even remark about the similarities of their situations and their team members and seeing them all interact makes the game that much better. What a perfect way to pass the time until Persona 5 arrives. This little slice of portable perfection is a game NOT to be missed!

I was given Persona Q as an early Christmas present. Looking forward to it but at this point I'm not going to have a chance to get to it until 2015.

I wasn't even aware of this game until very recently but ... get this, this has been released in Europe, whereas SMTIV which according to my understanding was a much more high-profile release still hasn't been.

I don't know if SMT is more popular than Persona anymore. It seems to be the other way around now. If you watched the event announcing Persona 5, Q and the dancing and fighting games, it was practically a national holiday in Japan.

Since the Persona re-(?)release on PS2 awhile ago that got so much attention, Persona has easily been more popular.
