I just purchased Earthbound Beginning and DK64 from the Wii U eShop.

Edit* I just got Don't Starve: Giant Edition and Legend of Zelda on the Wii U eShop.

I got a code because I purchased Don't Starve before the 28th of June. I got the code to gift it to a friend.

Over the past month I picked up two new handhelds.

I got the PS Vita that comes with Borderlands 2. Mostly I just got this to play the Persona titles on, and a few other games. Played a bit of Gravity Rush on it, which is pretty cool. Its a beautiful little system....the tech is amazing and it has a very nice Playstation controller kind of feel to it. Also picked up a red New 3DS XL. I got Majora's Mask and A Link Between Worlds. Only checked out the intro to Majora, but this system seems to have much better 3D than the old one, or maybe its just the game? It looks great.

This reminds me ... I bought a PS Vita too.  I don't think I ever bought a system before in my life on which I didn't even finish a single game.  In fact I didn't even buy any (I have two which came as download codes with the system).  I don't even remember charging the thing.  And at the moment I could use the money I spent on it.

I've added a few more games to my arsenal.

On the XBOX, I got a brand new copy of Unreal 2 for $8 from Amazon. Blows my mind that they even still HAVE original Xbox games.

Also on the XBOX, I finally grabbed Mechassault 1 & 2, $5 each on eBay.

On 360, I got Vanquish! Can't wait to try this one.

And on PS4, I got Rory McIlroy PGA Tour 15.

Edge, how much was the Rory Mcilroy game?  I'm kind of interested in playing a golf game.

Yes it does, frankly it was the most deserving of a sequel out of Platinum's games.

Don't listen to "them".  MadWorld is a neglected and underrated masterpiece!

Platinum at its best!

Madworld is easily Platinum's worst game without me playing Legend of Korra.

I was invested, pre-orderd etc... but utimately found it to be lacking on the same level as the middle levels of Crazy Taxi (when played on normal level). Artificial hump.

And while usually I enjoy a good artificial hump, in my games it is annoying, and sometimes game ending.

See I had already warned you about this before they even got here.  Don't listen to them and their lies.  Stick a trumpet through your ears.  ... Or a sign-post!

14. Beat Gone Home - 5/10

Now I remember what wasn't clicking for me. I like a lot of aspects about what Gone Home does in comparison to the complete bullshit that is Dear Esther, you know minus the gross ass framerate dips I was getting.

The house which had to have been well constructed is actually well thought out and has a lived in vibe, and not going to lie I would argue the movie, music, and tv taste has a level of consistency to it once you begin getting some small details on each family member. It wasn't a greatest hits of the 90s vibe, which would just be scattershot, but like legit genre specific things that made sense given who the family members were.

And in a gamey sort of way there is a level of enjoyment you do get from getting a new corner of the house and then a new piece of story. What doesn't work for me is a few things.

Plot spoilers for anyone that wants to kill the 1 hour it takes to finish Gone Home.
First of all as admirable as it is for the story to work around Sam being Lesbian, that ends being thdriving plot point. Of how people reacted and how she grew up during that span. It's not exactly all that fleshed out or detailed, and you barely get enough info on Lonnie as far as I'm concerned.

What really hurts it though is again how disconnected it is from what you are doing. I was getting story pieces that weren't from the thing I picked up, they are from the fucking journal at the end that Sam wants Katie to read. So the whole time I was reading plot points that my character hasn't actually read yet. So there is this weird flashback story thing going on.

Which yes the game does have a great handle on how to do environmental story telling, but the central plot it tells made no sense with what I was playing. Ideally the plot should have been Katie trying to figure out where everyone is, and then coming to the conclusion that Sam ran away at the end.

Which I would imagine would be info dumpy at the end, but that's how that story would be told to someone if they were in Katie's shoes. She'd spend her time in that house worried and not knowing what the fuck is going on, being blown the fuck away at how many secrets are in the house, maybe getting creeped out by the house (especially that red herring ghost thing), and then realizing that her sister is gay and in love and is going away.
After that the stuff that makes you relate to these characters are just straight up universal things that anyone can see half way. There is nothing else to it beyond the basics and the house stuff I feel like you appreciate more after the fact, because when you know more stuff it makes going through the objects a bit more different because of the tone shift.

I still respect it for what it is, but I still wouldn't really call it a good game, or even a bad one. Definitely an interesting one, I'm hoping Tacoma actually has a better harmony with what you are doing.

I loved MadWorld. I picked it up and replayed it a few months ago, but got stuck at the Frankenstein boss. I still say that game was an online leaderboard away from being a classic.
