I just bought this:

91k4W8VMBJL._SL1500_.jpg

Not sure if I'll ever play it, but seeing as it's so rare to come by, I just had to bring it home with me.    I could make anywhere between €25-€100 selling it on Ebay right now.  It'll sit very well next to my sealed copy of Wind Waker HD limited edition.

I bought a lot of things on WiiU E-shop

-Affordable Space Adventures

-Shantae and the Pirate's Curse

-Castlevania 1

-Metroid Fusion

-Golden Sun

-Earthbound

and with left over money I bought ocarina of time on a discount (because I own Wii vc version), because Nintendo does DD super shitty.

Be sure to let us know how you're liking it.  I think I'm the only one here who has played it so far.

Wow!  What a thing of beauty.  Leave that sealed for posterity.  But do buy a plain copy of the game to play.  It's beautiful.  If I was in Belgium I'd lend it to you.

I could match your offer by lending you a copy of DK Jungle Beat for GC if you like.

Bloodborne collector's edition sans soundtrack code for $49. Which is what the non-collector's edition appears to be going for, so that soundtrack must have been worth something!

1. Beat Transistor - 5/10

2. Beat Bayonetta 2 - 9/10

3. Beat Super Time Force - 7/10

4. Beat Double Dragon Neon - 5/10

5. Beat D4: Dark Dream's Don't Die - 5/10

6. Beat Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - 7/10

7. Beat Megaman X - 9/10

8. Beat The Order 1886 - 4/10

9. Beat Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes - 6*/10

10. Beat Bloodborne - 9/10

11. Beat Batman: Arkham Asylum - 8/10

12. Beat Batman: Arkham City - 8/10

13. Beat Her Story - 6/10

14. Beat Gone Home - 4/10

15. Beat Splatoon - 7/10

The campaign aspect was solid, good most of the way through as the mechanics were explored in interesting ways. I would say calling it more of a platformer than TPS makes a level of sense to it, in a lot of ways it has more in common with the things Ratchet n Clank and Jax 2/3 did than say a more proper shooter, and I like that, I like games that juggle multiple genres appropriately or at least are unique entries in their respective genre. And Splatoon is that, in a lot ways it is a breath of fresh air to play a game with these mechanics.

However, beyond the part where the game is easy and I went through the motions I didn't dig certain ideas. For instance when the game uses MP maps in the SP it's totally boring and filler, because it amounts to fighting bots (no seriously), or this samey get to this giant inkstrike throwing thing, and then he dies and it's super anticlimactic as getting to the thing was more effort than fighting it, and getting to it isn't a challenge. It's more annoying.

Bosses suck outside of the last one, and while the last one is actually pretty cool and yes one of the better shooter and platformer bosses I've fought, my question is why the fuck is it the only boss designed the way it is. Because that design type could have worked for the other 4, and the game chose not to do that but have traditional Nintendo bosses. You know dodge, attack, do it 3 times, fight is over. Also the game pads itself out by having you go find the levels.

So you're in this hub thing, and you move around this hub thing to go ink the kettle thing you need to go into (think Mario 64 paintings, that's what the kettles are). And so a lot of getting into an early area amounts to you killing some time just doing this tedious hunt to shoot levels, where a simple fucking menu would have been fine. Mario 64 was cool, because you got to explore the castle and the castle was cool to explore. Sunshine worked, because there were things in Sunshine where it was worth doing all that stuff.

That said Galaxy 2 dropped all of that, and it's fucking terrific. So nothing of fucking value is lost when you just give me the levels in a menu, instead of making me bullshit.

The multiplayer I really like, a lot, some grindy aspects I could live with out, but the game is good overall. Nintendo should do more new things.

I really liked the hub world and how you had to track down the levels.  One of the best things about the single player in my opinion.  I found the levels themselves to be overtly linear, easy, and a bit of a bore.  Enjoyable, but all in all rather meh.

edit: also, you misplaced your post.  This is the 'games you just bought' thread...

7/10 overall, or just for the campaign?

Yes i've played rank.

Why though? You literally do nothing interesting other than move around a bit to go find some kettles and once they are set you go level to level. It comes off completely unnecessary.

And yeah Tomas overall.

I found myself wishing that the actual levels were more like the hub world, with more platforming and larger area's you could actually discover with some actual verticallity, rather than just strings of small self contained area's to shoot simple minded octolings in.

I agree that the levels themselves could use more vertical segments, but I still don't get what's enjoyable about what you do in that hub world. At the end of the day they drop you in this box, and then you just move around said box finding where the kettles are breaking up the pace and rhythm of the game with a glorified pixel hunt.

Caved in and ordered Splatoon and Puzzle Dragons.  I probably won't get around to playing them before September though by which time you will all have given it up.

I also pre-ordered this:

I will probably do a Supreme with this one.  Don't know if I'll ever have any interest in playing it but it's a nice bundle with the art book and amiibo.  Maybe it will become collectable the way these things do.  This is the first collector's edition game I'm getting for the WiiU and it will be my first ever (and probably only ever) amiibo.

surprise  It comes with an artbook too?  Hmmmmm...

I've had zero interest in this, but hey, I picked up a LE Yoshi Wooly Whatsit as well.  I'll probably end up randomly going to the same toystore, the one seemingly no other gamer knows exists, the one where you can still buy Zack & Wiki and Eledees new, and picking this up as well.

Suuuuuuuuure.  I was only going to get a Marth as well, and by now I own 7 of those devilish things.  Once you've bought one, you'll end up wantig another one.  And then another one.  Untill you find yourself incapable of resisting the urge to buy one when you see one that's suposed to be rare.  Before you know it, you'll be living penniless out on the street, pushing your shopping cart with your amiibo collection around, mumbling incomprehensible ramblings, unshaven, unwashed, waiving a pointy stick at anyone who passes you too close by to fend them off before they can steal any of your amiibo.

Noooooo, stop it!  I best cancel that pre-order now.  Must not get Amiibo.  Amiibo evil.

Here's what we'll do: you sell your pre-order on to me.  That way my life has not been for nought as I will save your soul from the vile corruption that became my downfall.  Kekekeke!

Don't listen to "them".  MadWorld is a neglected and underrated masterpiece!

Platinum at its best!

I forgot that it was developed by Platinum. I do like Revengeance and Vanquish, so that makes things more interesting. I also plan on playing Bayonetta soon.

Too bad they didn't make another one.

Freedom Fighters, another game I always wanted a sequel to, and I think they were going to make one at some point...wtf happened? Anyway, I had FF on the Gamecube back in the day, this time around I picked it up on the Xbox just because the games tend to look better than they do on the others on HDTV's.....this game actually supports 720p on the XBOX. That blows my mind. It came out in 2003.
