That's why I love the gamepad too. I don't really care too much about the touch aspects but I think it's best asset is the ability to play games off-screen.
I picked up a Retron 5! I'm pretty excited about it.
I figure why waste money tracking down old consoles in good shape, then having to go through the trouble of setting them up without an old school TV, when this thing hooks up to any modern TV via HDMI, plays all the classics from the NES, SNES, Genesis, GBA, and more? Oh and you can even use the original controllers for each. This thing is like a dream for retro gaming. Its just too bad they couldn't get the N64 on here. I wonder if we'll ever see one that can do the more complex early 3D systems?

So it was taken away. I turned on the U and would play on the gamepad during my downtime, which could amount to five or six hours of game time a day. Most games let you see what you are doing so you can switch to view on Gamepad on the fly. Not Batman Arkham Origins. I had to count how many times to press the button and move the stick until it showed up on my Gamepad.
I did that on Lego City just to avoid the loading time for the title screen.

You know what's great? When you can play offscreen and still use touchscreen features like in Deus Ex.

Is that kinda thing legal?

Yup. At least it is here. Amazon is even selling them, and they don't sell Nintendo hardware anymore!
Do you plug in actual game carts or download software or what?
Ravenprose said:Can we expect a full review of the system soon, Edge?
Sure, but I probably won't hook it up until the weekend when I have more free time.

Yeah but I heard they were running into a bit of legal issues not long ago because it was found out that they were using direct copies of some of Sega and Nintendo hardware or some emulation type shit, and people thought they were going to have to stop selling them. But so far, that hasn't happened.

Yes it has cart slots at the top for every system, and controller ports on the sides. I believe it downloads software emulators for every system, to the Retron 5's system menu.
Just bought me one of these:
Can't wait to try it out. Still the best controller ever in my opinion, and now it's improved with 2 shoulder buttons a side. I was going to pick up the Luigi one, but in the end I went with mario, since red seemed to go better with the colours of the buttons and sticks. I'm fasionnable like that
No controller felt more perfect in my hands than that of the gamecube. The shape was perfect ... even the texture of the plastic felt good as weird as that sounds.
Those Smash Bros. issue controllers are disgustingly expensive though.
FINALLY. I finally got around to getting Grand Theft Auto V today, the vile Xboner version of course.

Congrats. I'd love to be able to play it again for the first time.
I pre-ordered MGS V. For 360. Day-one edition whatever that means. I have only played the original MGS (PSX) but I'm hoping to play Snake Eater and number 4 in time to get excited for V. May skip number 2 as it seems to be the ugly sibling no one talks to (though I suppose it's one of those rare games the reputation of which seems to be improving with time, a bit like Windwaker)
I thought the backlash on 2 was because of the Raiden thing and disgruntled fanboys. If I understood well, the gameplay in 2 is great.

That's good to know. May have to try it when I get to the collection. I used to think it was something like Devil May Cry 2 ... ie best left ignored and forgotten.

Dude Metal Gear Solid 2 is an incredible game. Its one of the best games on the PS2. Its the original MGS style of gameplay done 10 times better. With some absolutely awesome boss fights. Comparing this to DMC2 is just not a fair comparison. The complaints on Sons of Liberty are that the story gets bat shit insane (but is still very enjoyable so who fuckin cares) and people whine that they couldn't play the whole game as Snake. Personally, I didn't mind Raiden at all...in fact I liked the different aspect he brought.
DMC2 gets shit on because the game is just weak in all aspects.
People shit all over the Gamepad but for that reason alone I love it. It saved me during a down time in my life.
