Yeah, this place is much more civil than some. It only takes a few persistent jerks to chase people away from a site. Everybody has seen that happen.

First 10 minutes.

It shows these locations in real time.

That's pretty snazzy. It seems there is a dojo where you get missions by radio and can train there. The cinematics have improved somewhat too.

It's not the best quality stream, but for a tutorial area it looks ok, and definitely improved and added upon from the old videos we had seen over and over again in the media. These first 10 minutes gave me some hope again. If the rest of the game has a little more open level design and the missions' structure (which wasn't even spoken of before, that's either cool or worrying) offers interesting setups, it could be sweet. I was losing faith in the game previously, thinking they emphasised the wrong things (pre rendered cut scenes and such) and not having a design as ambitious as the initial videos promised. Coupled with Ubisoft's reluctance to keep pimping it as a great upcoming title, or at least not as hard as before, scepticism was inevitable. This change of heart will hopefully not lead to disappointment.

^ Hey, new blood!  Welcome, glad to have you around.

I think tentative optimism is the right angle here.  It looks good, but Ubisoft makes me nervous.

Welcome. Happy

You know that scene in Cars where the town is too eager to greet new cars that they scare them off. I am afraid we are going to do that. Nyaa

Yeah, I'm also hoping that the controls are well utilized and there is a lot of variety in the gameplay and level structure. I'm atually kind of suprised that Ubisoft seems to have put a good effort into this.  I wonder if it came close to being canned?

Glad you made the jump Happy

I don't know, the more I see of this game the more limited it seems. The actual level design seems very small and horizontal. They seem to throw you into smallish arenas and drop bad guys into them. My biggest worry is that it will get repetitive and that there might be too much emphasis on the swordplay and not enough on the guns. I'd like to see some more hills, some stairs, some rooftop gameplay, some guys shooting from up top. Everything is flat so far.

I like the idea of quests and stuff though and presentationally its all very appealing.

Oh this is just a  short combat trailer:

Looks much more snappy.

Also

UK wanna Play trailer

Shows the lead designer playing. I suspect its culled from the video doc "Taking control to the next level" but it streamlines it and shows real time how accurate the controls are. Pretty cool.

About the limiting level design, yeah, that was part of my point. Though some past videos hinted at slightly larger more open areas being present, like the part they introduced those ninja enemies. Still, being a Western they should make shooting a little more useful, and not only stick enemies to the same level as you, but also put them up on balconies and terraces and stuff, with cool falling over animations when you kill them. Like a Western :-P

The new footage posted shows the visuals nicely at least. Game looks good, shame they went for pre-rendered cut scenes, it would have seemed far more impressive if all was done in real time and no interruptions from gameplay.

I guess I'm getting used to first person games becoming ever bigger and more sprawling, so seeing a tightly focused game in these small environments seems a little, I dunno, retro in some way. But watching more of the gameplay it really does seem action focused, like in an arcade sort of way and keeping things small may be their way of constantly keeping you on your toes.

The pre-rendered cutscenes are better than the in game visuals so they can be jarring and take you out of the experience. I'm cautiously looking forward to it. At least its an excuse to get motionplus, I've been holding out on it for ages.

The new videos were removed from GT for some reason. I can't find them elsewhere either. Shame, cos that was an infiinitely better showcase of the game than the "bad day" cut scene compilation.

Yeah, they really need to show gameplay that is a little more dynamic. I wonder if some of this is because they don't want to put enemies in positions where you can only shoot them? This guy could be a little more prince of persia acrobatic too. Or a little more fluid or something. Fighting seems kind of stiff in a way.
