Yeah because I totally haven't thoroughly explained anything about MH in paragraphs upon paragraphs in previous pages. If you haven't read it, don't talk shit. MH has been explained in detail here and elsewhere, if you haven't cared to learn of it, dodn't judge it. You're being a dick and I act how you deserve.

I honestly can't see how having a game where you can get stuck in animation and swing right passed an enemy cause it slightly moved or whatever cause you have no lock on is a good idea. I don't think it would make the game that much easier, clearly fights require lots of planning, dodging and proper attacks. A lock on would not change any of this, it would make the simple act of slashing an enemy much easier, plus it would help with the camera at the same time. It seems like such a simple obvious thing to add in. I don't see any benefit to no lock on.

Talking random shit about how the game is this, or is that, or you just do this or that, instead of asking questions, when you clearly don't know shit about it (again, even though it's been explained in detail before), isn't exactly the way to go. Errrmmm... I don't know if lock on would help in this type of game or not. I think the reason they decided to NOT implement it is: This game throws a lot more "wild-beast" like monsters at you than PSO did. If you are locked on to one particular Jaggia, for example, and your perspective of what is going on is centered on IT, then what do you do about the other 5 or 6 circling you and defending the one you are attacking at the moment? Or how do you keep an eye on the Great Jaggi across the field setting up to charge you or jump across the screen at you? The monsters move way too quickly and erratically for lock-on to be effective, imo. I think the view would be ALL over the place!

I never said something was one way, I said I fear it is that way. Obviously there is a lot to this game I know that. But the core combat mechanics are set, what I played in the demo is how I expect it plays in the final game, obviously you will get new weapons and maybe some new moves but the characters control and move the same way. I have issues with that and with tiny additions I felt it could control better. I don't understand how a lock-on would change anything, maybe it would make shooting too easy, in that case disable it for characters with range weapons.

I think you should really rent the actual game, Vader. See how it starts out, learn the nuances, start hunting smaller monsters FIRST so you can get a better feel for everything at your own pace. The demo really did you a dis-service this time, I think.

It's a shame, I was REALLY looking forward to playing this game with a bunch of you.  Sad

This looks like a game you buy, not rent. I will get it eventually cause it looks awesome. But yes the demo sucks at times and it might have done more harm than good.

Keeping an eye on the enemy is easy, slashing at it as it moves a step to the right and watching your guy go through an entire slash animation while the enemy is watching and probably attacking sucks.

Then don't attack when it's about to move away. How hard is that? As has been said before, learn how to play. See how the monsters move. Attack at the right time. Lock on wouldn't help you. Already from wanting lock-on you go on to say you want the attacking mechanics changed to what, to allow you to change direction of your great sword's swing mid-way through, or what. There are vertical moves, there are horizontal moves that cover a huge arc, you even have attacks that hit behind you with some weapons. Some weapons have short range some long, some are speedy so you can quickly correct yourself after a miss, some are slower to balance their sheer power so you need to swing them when you're certain you will hit. That's the whole point. Strategic, methodical fighting using your weapons, your items, all the potential tools and gadgets and buffs you have previously crafted in a way that fully exploits them, not with reckless button mashing. It's not hard to understand. Don't buy this, it's not for you. And that doesn't mean it's bad or that it needs changes to be "better" or whatever. It's just not for you. Move on.

Right when I get close to an enemy I would like to hit it when I swing, I am not targeting air, I am targeting the enemy. The animations in this game are too slow for some of the attacks to not offer lock on. Why do the majority of third person games have lock-on? Because they know that hitting an enemy in open space can be difficult to manage. I don't get why this game goes against the norm when I feel it would help. It wouldn't drastically change the game or anything, it would simply make combat I feel a tad bit more enjoyable.

I don't understand the need for locked (is that how Yoda refers to it?) animation in this day and age. Having to watch the entire animation play out when you already know you missed... in ANY game is weird to me.

That's the ONE and only complaint I have. Some things slow down your actions. Swinging and missing and wanting to jump out of the way to avoid a charging beast, but not being able to due to unfinished animation is a bit frustrating.

The game is so head and shoulders above anything else of this type out there at the moment where I can forgive something like this and get used to it.

Because your mistakes must have consequences to get you to become better and stop making mistakes. The animation that plays out whether you managed the hit or not is the consequence. You had an opportunity to strike and cause damage, you messed up, and that opportunity is now gone, you can't just cancel it, correct yourelf, and swing again as if the mistake didn't happen, with just a split second delay. And if that opportunity was one of those strike or be struck situations (for example a perfectly timed charged attack on a monster's head, which would make it stagger and stop its own attack), tough luck, next time you won't do that mistake. Hopefully. It's just a nearly perfectly executed fighting system, like only CAPCOM knows how to craft. Think Street Fighter when you play, not God of War. If you waste your super, tough shit, it's gone, and the dude that dodges it WILL retaliate and own you. And next time you won't waste your super like that and will save it for the perfect moment instead. Or get owned.

And I am sure I could too, but it still stands out as an issue. One day someone will make a game like this that controls like a DMC. That would be incredible.
