I've been playing Lunastice, it's fricking awesome fun.
It's a shot of joy, like a Sega and Nintendo platformer combined. Try the demo, guys.
Also bought the Agatha Christie bundle, it's going to take a while to get a good impression, they're very different to the Murder On the Orient Express demo I played.
Also picked up Morbid the Seven Acolytes, feels really good, it's a pixel art souls like action rpg. Feels very heavy, with satisfying combat and an intricately woven lore. Also nabbed Dexter Stardust, an episodic adventure game, like a Saturday morning cartoon. Quite funny and quite Mexican.
Really surprised at the quality of the demo. Reminded me of the Raven Resmastered. Seems to have been made with a lot of care and affection.
Personally I find it really special when a cutting edge industry based on technology recreates a golden age of cinema vibe. Takes me back to watching similar movies as a kid. Trains and epic journeys, wistful evocative, music.
I played a little bit of Final Fantasy 6 while I was traveling, but now that I'm home I'm probably going to put it down. Lost Judgment has definitely lived up to its title, and after a few more tries I think it's pretty clear that the bug has officially ended any chance I have for forward progression in the game.
So I think I'm going to press pause on any gaming for a while and just catch up on some TV and movies.
I started Pikmin 4. I've seen it described like a warm hug, and it really is. It's just such a nice universe to be in. I've only played for about 5 in game days and so far it's all been very easy, which is ok I guess. I'm playing the old school way, ignoring as many of the modern features they introduced to make things even easier. Not too fond of the auto lock though, makes it very hard to throw pikmin where I wan when attacking a bunch of enemies.
I like it, but the bare boned intro was embarrassingly basic.
Game feels great though. I find the camera zoomed out too far for portable play, if only because Samus becomes a shimmering jaggy fest. I like escaping from those bots.
We had a pretty rough start to the new year, but hopefully, things will be getting better. I'm getting near the end of Atomic Heart and am really enjoying it. After reading GG's impressions, I want to play the Hercules Poirot gsme.

Looking into it, it got pretty solid reviews across the board. Tons of 8/10s, it's hard for adventure games to breach an 8, but for fans the experience isn't always reflective of what you'd score it.

I liked the demo so much I may get it physically.
When I was young here on British TV, we watched American Detective shows but there were also tons of shows or mini series/movies based on Hercule Quirot or Agatha Christie books we watched. And of course being Britain, tons of Sherlock Holmes stuff so I have a lot of nostalgia for the genre and playing games immersed in that feels like wish fulfillment.
I will say that the Orient Express demo left a much better initial impression than the other two earlier games I bought recently, the ABC Murders and the First cases. Those are more isometric viewpoint and landed with menus and on screen text and notifications etc. But I only tried them for 5 mins.
Murder On The Orient Express demo is a proper 3rd person, Resident Evil 4 style camera with free movement. It's quite polished and very intuitive to play and to investigate crime scenes.
Happy New Year!
Happy new year!
Happy New Year everybody!
Happy New Shitfest.
Switch winter sale is still on.

Fancy moustaches and fat train conducters.
This holiday weekend, I've mostly been playing Resident Evil 2 Remake - Mr X Sucks Edition.
I also put in a couple of hours into Hogwarts Legacy and I'm really enjoying it so far.
So I think I'm going to press pause on any gaming for a while and just catch up on some TV and movies.
My holiday weekend gaming consisted of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Lots and lots of it.

I started Metroid Dread.
I like it, but the bare boned intro was embarrassingly basic.

I just checked the Microsoft store and it's a little steep. I bought the Bioshock Collection for $9.99 this morning.
Every time someone mentions the Bioshock series, I immediately want to go back and replay them.
That really is an excellent deal. Those games may be 10 years old, but they are as good as ever.
I finished Atomic Heart which was a good imitation of the Bioshock series. I figured I may as well play the real deal again.
