I am loving my time with Red Dead Redemption 2 this weekend. Theres so many different systems and context button controls that can tske a while to get used to and get a little annoying. However the exploration and secrets of the land more than make up for that. Great game!
I really need to return to Red Dead Redemption 2 and continue from where I left off. Was enjoying it but got sidetracked and never got back to it.
This weekend I’ve been continuing my second playthrough of Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition but this time I’m playing the PS4 version on the PS5. Better performance and faster loading is definitely nice.
I put away Darkest Dungeon for now. I keep forgetting just how frustrating the end game is, and after playing for 2 months I'm ready to move on to something new.
And on that note, today I ordered a new console. Hoping that it arrives before Thanksgiving so I'll have something for the extended weekend.
nothing too exciting. Or actually maybe very exciting depending on your perspective I suppose. The Retroid Pocket 3+.
A few weeks (maybe months???) ago I think Vader mentioned he was getting a handheld emulator/pirate system for his nephews. I've had an off and on again interest into these kinds of systems and modding my own consoles, but I hadn't really looked into anything like that for a couple years. I started doing some homework and it almost blew my mind how for fr these things have come.
I may start blogging about it in the near future, because I do think it's extremely interesting how there's an industry with different tiered emulation devices. They run from small basic handhelds that are modeled after the original game boy, and up to systems that are not far off from the steam deck.
The one I purchased actually came out just a few days ago, and it can emulate everything up to the Dreamcast almost perfectly, and even handles some GameCube and PS2 games without too much trouble. So the idea of having all this on one handheld seems like it could be much fun.
Did you guys talk about the Tommy the green ranger passing. that one hurt.
I'm still fighting through god of war. It seemed really similar but I like how expansive this sequel is. Not exactly GoW 2 level improvement over the first but still nice to see new gameplay elements. Loving it.
I finally bought TMNT collection, it was $20. GG, is Splatoon 3 worth $45? I'm probably going to get it on GameFly. Then next week is Calisto and Midnight Sons, I'm not getting both, I don't know if I'm getting even one but most likely it will be Calisto.
Did 2 missions in Astral Chain, then was subjected to this overlong introductory tour of the facility.
Which was long, arduous, boring and unhelpful.
I feel like the HQ is just a way to stick in all these "shops" for you to buy various equipment. Why am having to pay for shit, as an employee?
The menus are complicated and confusing. Which makes the game seem a lot more unfriendly than it is. I just want to get on with the action.
There's a great range of abilities here. Some of them seem to require a little bit too much from the player. They would be great for exploration in a Zelda style game.
Am I really going to loop my legatus around a pillar to do a side jump attack though? Meh.

I have this and have yet to play it. Bayo 3 is really want a want from a platinum game. I know astral chain has a lot of extra fluff to it.
Got Splatoon 3; will get around to playing it at some point.
I don't get the point of having a gun, baton and sword in Astral Chain.
The gun is weak AF. The baton is good but you can't hit enemies with shields. So you end up using the sword all the time anyway rather than having to switch.
The kill camera is a bit messed up. You have the same animation several times in a row, gets a bit repetitive. But to make it look flashy the camera ping pong between multiple points so often it just gets disorientating.
I like the Astral realm, in moderation. I much prefer the urban environments, but the game has you diving in and out of the Astral realm a lot.
You end up in a series of floating blocks which always look the same with no recognisable locations or way points.
The lock on system is also a touch flawed. Once locked on you can swap targets by flicking the right stick. But the right stick is for camera movement.
So when I'm trying to get the camera to where I want to look my lock on swaps to a different enemy.
Some enemies also do these huge, fast moves flipping past you to get in behind you. And if locked on the camera can violently lurch you from pillar to post multiple times.
Playing this is making me appreciate Itagaki and DOA and Ninja Gaiden more. Its the only 3D combat that actually felt "right" for me.

Well, what console?

I'm back, no polyps.
Congratulations! Do you feel any different now you're no longer a virgin?
Thats a normal morning.
Nice Travo!

As with the other Splatoons, I'm waiting to complete the single player first before going multiplayer.
From the couple of matches I've played it's still great fun.
Ive been diverted by the Xenoblades and Astral Chain.
I just don't have the energy to go all in on Splatoon right now.
That is pretty cool. Still, I prefer my Panasonic Q

When it's not bogging itself down in the HQ. The mission mix of detective work followed by action sequences works well.
I just hope that it's a game where its not too important to Fiddle with menus, item buying and skill upgrades.
Hopefully I can mostly ignore that stuff.

Oh and Japan just beat Germany in the World Cup.
