Finished Xenoblade 2 Torna expansion. Clocked in at 30hrs.

Only thing left is to defeat 3 superbosses.

Kinda made me tear up near the end. After playing a combined 260ish hours of the games, I felt sad to say goodbye. A few characters also died.

Great stuff overall, marks an important and pivitol part in the story.

Now trying some lol cloud gaming demos.

Wow, tried cloud versions of Plague Tale 2, RE2 and RE3.

HOT garbage.

Ridiculous cloud gaming on a fibre broadband connection gives the picture quality of a 240p YouTube video.

Resident Evil controls are back to tank? Ah shit.

Kinda cool I guess, also kinda janky feeling. Also miss the gyro aiming of RE5, 6 and RE7 on switch.

It's not tank, it controls like every TPS now. Sucks to hear about the connection, I need to try it, it will probably be even worse for me.

I didn't get to play for long. The movement was deliberately slow. Not a bad thing for an old school horror feeling.

I was so disgusted by the performance of virtually every cloud demo I've tried I delete the shit within seconds after turning it off.

There's about 8 or so cloud demos on Switch. Aside from one, brief awesome performing RE7 session, it's all been horrid.

Crappy image quality, audio hitching, variable resolution drops, laggy or unresponsive controls.

I'm pretty sure the same company is operating these servers too, the screens you have to click through are near identical.

Been meaning to post for days...

So sorry to hear about your grandma, Vader. You've done so much for so long, take some time, grieve, relax and be selfish for a while. Sometimes games come along just at the right time to help us escape and break away from reality when we need to the most. Hope you're enjoying Sonic and GoW right now. There's no shame in getting back to the things you love after you've had a rough patch.

Thank you, and to all of you.

Fools get better, I'll be getting the booster this week.

As for sonic I have my issues, mainly the repetition of activities in the open world and the poor traditional levels. I thought they would be good as one of the first ones had a hard S rank time requirement that forced me to master the level, felt like old times. That was a fluke as all the other levels I got s rank without even trying. These levels are tiny, the scoring system is gone basically, all that matters is time. They also only have four backgrounds repeated over and over, and it's reused parts from past sonic levels.

Still they nailed the feel of running around a big world as sonic, hitting boost pads and springs and rail grinding all over. I did reach the second island and the activities and enemies got way more interesting so maybe there is a good game in there. I'll be holding off until I finish GoW.

Now GoW Ragnarok, first impression was holy shit it's the exact same game. But the further I go the more changes I see, it does feel like a proper sequel that builds and expands in many ways. The combat while mostly the same has a new emphasis on elemental statuses and exploring one against another. Everything feels faster, blocking and parry is more snappy and the combat areas have more interactivity. There are more use a boat to explore a large area segments which lead to some really cool side quests. New mechanics keep getting added, these are used in puzzles to access treasures and new areas. I get a sort of Zelda vibe from it all. Bosses are better, enemy variety is better and the story has been great so far. Maybe not a huge leap forward but if you loved the last one this one might be better.

A trailer for the Splatoon3 winter update has been released. Aside from more levels and weapons, 2 new modes have been introduced. That's what this game needs, something truely new.

From watching the trailer theys seem identical to what's on offer though. Big whoop for nothing...

Some wonderful person has scanned every issue of Nintendo Power in put it all up on archive.org. this isn't the first time someone's tried to do this, but Nintendo usually takes it down, so hopefully it hangs around this time. It's not the most user friendly way to view it all, but I still appreciate the effort that went into something like this.

Also, as I browsed around I found one of the most notable moments in Nintendo Power history. When they basically shook their heads win some fat guys wrote in and talked about how they stayed in their hotel room to play game boy instead of actually going out for spring break.

Started Astral Chain.

Not sure what to think so far. It's like Disaster Day of Crisis x Bayonetta.

They threw me into the action before a tutorial (I still haven't done). There's a strange momentum with character movement, reminds me of gta 4.

The camera lock seems unwelcome and unnecessary. It lurches from one enemy to the next every few seconds.

The ZR is the attack button which just feels weird but I guess they want you to be able to attack whilst using the right stick for the legion.

Now at the police station. The UI is off putting, too complicated to look at.

Graphics are great, very vivid and colourful. Looks awesome on the OLED, might be the best game to show it off.

Played more Astral Chain.

Once I changed the button configuration it was much better.

If you like Bayonetta style games you'll like this.

The investigation bits are decent. Remind me of the Telltale Batman games detective bits.

Part of me wishes they'd gone the adventure game route.

Combat is pretty fun, though its still taking some effort to get my head around all the controls and handling the legion at the same time.

Happy birthday Shigeru Miyamoto.

Yeah it took me a bit to get accustomed to the gameplay mechanics in Astral Chain but really enjoyed it when I did.

Damnit! Now I want those fluffy Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak weapons.

I'd say it's strange to wish Shigeru Miyamoto happy birthday on here, but then I remembered that he posts occasionally.

It's not bad, but it's a little mentally challenging to get used to controlling a second character and your own at the same time. It's almost like Pikmin, if you had one big Pikmin which you push around using the right stick.

Not helping that I changed the control layout so my brain gets confused as to what I should be pressing.

Good game overall though. Enjoying it.

Switch eshop madness has started. Over 2000 games on sale.

Danganronpa 1 anniversary edition is on a savage 80% off discount.

Lost in Random is a 5th of the normal price. Tons of other stuff too.

Astral Chain is getting a bit complicated. All these slash attacks, legion abilities etc.

Now there's a skill tree.

I wish the music in the police station was more chill. I want to buy items, do training, equip items and just explore a bit.

There's this pounding, never ending techo music that loops endlessly. Drives me mad.

Yeah, Shiggy and I aren't particularly close anymore. I can't really go into details here, but there was an incident involving angel food cake, a roll of masking tape, and Conway Twitty's greatest hits.

We're still friendly, and exchange Christmas cards, but I don't really see him very much anymore.
