Yup.... It would still be a little over 10 years before the first fan translation came out for it, and the official translated DS version came out around 2010. So we definitely had to wait a long time for this game. Oh, and you know there was actually a PS2 version for it too. That looked really good, and to this day I'm a little bitter we never saw it.
Well, after 24 hours of playing Xenoblade 3, it's kinda hitting home.
I don't have more powerful systems to compare it to, but on Switch level hardware, it's a stunning achievement.
I've been astonished at times on the detail they've gone to in creating the world.
Just the sheer level of effort they've gone to. Mechonis designs and uniforms have intricate etchings and patterns.
Even with returning enemies they've all been re-rendered.
There's grass as far as the eye can see (If you angle the camera right)
Although they cant cover every surface in a game this big, it's really impressive that they've managed to cover the vast majority of ground and rock surfaces with detailed shaders.
Lighting and rain effects highlight small details in the environments.
Admittedly I'm using Mclassic for some post process Edge smoothing, but it's exceptionally sharp and colourful for a switch game on a large 4ktv.
When all this is paired with the same beautiful music and stunning vistas it just immerses you in the game. It has such a scale to it, similar to past xenos.
The story so far, had been a touch dry compared to other xenos. Not enough plot twists or desperation, or comedy.
Not many big revelations so far.
One thing hinting at the scope of the game is seeing shattered ancient relics of past Xenoblade locations. Hinting at what this world is and how it was formed.
I'm seeing destroyed titans and remnants of well known locations from X1 and 2.
The rain and flooding portion of hurricane Ian has passed me, but now we've got some insanely strong tail winds. Strongest wins that we've gotten from this the entire time in fact. The power's been flickering off and on, and that's the first time I've dealt with that during the storm. But fortunately no prolonged troubles.
I also taken one quick walk outside with my dog and we definitely escaped from the worst of it. Looks like there may have been a few houses in the neighborhood that took a little flood damage. Probably find out later this evening when it's finally safe to get out there.
I decided to take the plunge yesterday and bought the Stadia system and a whole bunch of games for the service. I should be all set for a very long time now. Woo hoo!

Exactly what is a Stadia system? I just thought it was a controller and you played games via the cloud.

Glad to hear you are good, we got sparred most everything, just normal bad thunderstorms here.
Great impressions GG.
So stadia is dead, shocking lol. It is nice that they are offering full refunds though. Not sure why they thought a streaming service where you buy games you can never actually own was a good idea. A streaming service has to be like gamepass, one price and can play whatever you want.

Now I want to buy one because we all know you have an eye for amazing systems like when you bought that 3DO and the Jaguar.

Great impressions BK.

Fun fact: my school adopted new art books many years ago. The books were shit with little content , but the big appeal was the Panasonic CD player that came with a cd of art images and a wired controller . When it arrived it was pretty clear that it was an unsold 3DO that they were giving away. It was a piece of shit even back then. That machine still sits up in the corner of my room along with a CRT TV.

Coolio passed away.
Just about the only rapper my father knows, mostly because he drove him around or something when he was in New Zealand.
By Miu Watanabe.

Good to hear that you’re doing ok down there Robio.

Are you insinuating that I may have been ripped off?

I do, I do. Unfortunately though I never did buy a Jaguar or a Virtual Boy. My two biggest regrets to this day.
Trust me it’s going to be HUGE!
Good to hear you’re doing well down there too.

Played better on a PS1.
