Fuck that Castle: 3rd Stratum. Had to look up how to progress, was just going around in circles.
Thank god. Anyway beat the boss there and the boss in Tokyo. Now in the next big open area.
I finished Final Fantasy Adventure which was great, and instead of moving onto Secret of Mana started Shakedown Hawaii.
I didn't play much of anything this week. Played a couple of hours Borderlands 3 online with my co op buddy.
It's a strange game. Despite all its exuberance, it seems subdued in comparision with BL2. The writing isn't as good, obviously, although the main villains are a pretty good substitute for Handsome Jack. There seems to be less bombardery made over bosses, less memorable characters,... And most importantly, the guns are less satisfying. There seem to be less 'good' weapon chests. We''ll often go out of our way to an area that seems out of reach, only to discover there's nothing there, where we'd be rewarded with a weapon chest in BL2. And the contents of the weapon chests are also less exhilerating. It's a pitty that in a game about shooting and looting guns, the guns themselves don't seem to stand out as much as they used to.
There are only 5 floors (not counting the 2 secret floors)
I'm probably shortly about to die but this is as far as I've driven to yet.
Largely because of the mini gun for bosses and combo of sniper rifle and SAA rebounding bullets combo.
Gah, how the hell am I supposed to get 3 armour pieces to fix the lift on floor 3?
If I die it's back to floor 2!
Another big sale going on in the Xbox Marketplace. Quite a few big sales on a bunch of games. Have my eye on a few myself.
I have no hesitation in calling this a classic. Truly addictive gameplay loop, challenge. Tons of secrets to discover.
Witty dialogue, charming graphics, varied and inventive enemies and show stopping bosses.
Paid my 3 armour pieces to repair the elevator.
535 hours of Asphalt 9 played.
Started Secret Files 2.
Pretty good so far. Not being in weird letterboxed format like the first game already gives it a huge advantage over the first game. Like other Animation Arts games on switch, it has a great control scheme which uses the gyro like a mouse pointer, most switch graphic adventures don't.
Overall the whole game seems upgraded from the first, better graphics, sound, voice acting etc.
At my rate of finishing games the last thing I need is another sale.
Been getting to the 4th floor a few times today. Finally unlocked the elevator to the 3rd floor permanently.
This game is really cool with the items and guns which have all sorts of different effects.
They also use famous guns, like a brick gun that looks like Mario bricks. It fires rebounding green shells. There's an Alien pulse rifle and a Ghost busters Proton pack.
If you have certain combos of guns it ups the effect. For instance if you have a shotgun and AK47 it makes your shotgun fire out bullets at a faster rate.
There are items that make your bullets bigger, or rebound, or freeze, or burn.
You can set fire to webs to burn enemies and clear the room.
You can get things like an item that drops a bomb every time you dodge roll.
There's an item that absorbs incoming fire and turns it into ammo.
An airstike ability where you have to select a zone and launch. Cluster mines you can drop.
There's so much depth to the game, yet it's instantly accessible like an arcade game.
It's one of the best action games I've played.
Got a bunch of games in my backlog as well. Definitely don’t need anymore but will probably grab another one or two anyway.
That Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin trailer was certainly something.
I did like that throwback to the first Final Fantasy game with the four characters standing there looking out towards the castle.
Yeah weird song choice for sure but sometimes I really dig it when they throw some completely off the wall song into a game trailer. Definitely some awful dialog going on there. I wouldn’t say that the game has me hyped for it in the typical sense but for some reason I am kind of interested in playing it oddly enough.
Still played Divinity 2, it's massive, well over 120 hours now, but so good. Also some smattering of Returnal, another great game, hard as shit too.
That Strangers trailer... wtf lol. Love the absurdity of it, it feels they are leaning in to it. I like the combat in the demo, the devs have proven themseleves, it could be a surprise hit. Still that game has hobo price all over it.
GG I never played enter the gungeon, im sure I have it on some service, I should try it.
You free prisoners from the Dungeon and they then sell you special items either in the lobby or inside the Dungeon.
You get items like monster blood where you emit toxic goop every time you are shot, which sap the health of enemies. You can get angel wings that let you fly over pits without a care.
I've never played a game with such inventive items and modifiers.
There's a saw gun which fires circular saw blades and they bounce off walls. One room had me with my back against the wall with 4 enemies advancing on me.
I pulled out the saw gun and rebounded shots at them with deadly accuracy. And it felt so natural, just did it on instinct.
