Hopped back into Monster Hunter Rise this weekend. Man do I ever love this game. Also played some Castlevania Circle of the Moon from the Castlevania Advance Collection. Felt pretty appropriate for Halloween.
I think Rise will be my winter game this year. I've stayed away from Monster Hunter just long enough that I'm starting to crave it a little bit again.
On a related note, did anyone ever watch the Milla Jovovich Monster Hunter movie? I know it was going to be bad, but I'm curious just how bad it ended up being.
I've completed the first page of Fantasia in D Minor! I hope to finish the song by the end of the month, but to what competency of playing we'll see.
I also watched Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure for the first time which was...decidedly unfunny for the most part, yet somehow utterly endearing anyway.
Poor Nintendo. Their Switch Online + Expansion Pass trailer is now their most disliked YouTube video. Hopefully this translates into poor adoption rates for the service which motivates them to do things with it to make it more worthwhile.
Nintendo Switch N64 emulation is reportedly much worse than on the original Wii. What a joke service. Whenever these companies become successful, they try to over charge for half-assed effort.
Suits them right. Even if everything (and I use everything in the most broad interpretation of the word) that is included in the expansion subscription would have worked properly, it'd only be worth €5 extra per month.
I finally started NMH3 this weekend. I didn't get to play much, took out the first boss. So far, so bad. It's all very much trying too hard to be edgy, resulting in garrish navelgazing. The game so far looks as if it could perfectly run on the Wii as well. I'll be keeping an open mind, hoping things improve further in.
After I beat this I plan to return to the original to see if it is indeed as superior as I remember it, or if it's just rose tinted nostalgia getting the better of me.
Completed Layers of Fear Legacy, the included Dlc made the game acceptable. I've made my peace with the game, it's a decent experience when cheap.
Also beat Queens Quest 2,another hidden object game. Fairly standard, doesn't particularly stand out.
Bought Anna's Quest, a Daedalic Graphic adventure. And Observer, as it looks pretty cool in terms of being the closest thing to a Blade runner game on the switch.
Pretty much what I expected. Fun retro point and click adventure. Only annoying thing is the female voice lead always referring to her father as "daddy"
In terms of 3D graphic adventures they were never that popular, so the graphics never evolved beyond this point. Silence looks amazing but it's part 2D.
That Elden Ring gameplay reveal looked pretty awesome. There’s crafting and open world exploration. Looks like there’ll be more build variety/flexibility then from previous Souls games. Magic looks very cool and flashy. Bosses looked very cool and imposing. Definitely hyped for this game myself.
Forza Horizon 5 is getting excellent reviews. Very much looking forward to playing this myself. Have the game already predownloaded and ready to go. Only 5 more days. Thank you Game Pass.
Shin Megami Tensei V getting great reviews as well. Currently an 86 on Metacritic with 48 reviews. I have the game pre-ordered myself and am looking forward to getting it. Don’t have a whole lot of experience with the series myself, have SMTIV for the 3DS and played some of that but did enjoy it.
Initial Observer impressions, already better than Layers of Fear, story building, interesting gameworld.
Very blurry, though I'm not sure if that's deliberate as you take this drug and the screen becomes clearer. If it doesn't get any better it might just be the blurriest game I've seen on Switch. Which is strange as Layers of Fear by the dev is not blurry.
Gameplay is pretty much the same, walk around in first person, investigating various objects. There are Metroid style filters, don't know why they smear visual noise all over the screen, isn't this the future?
Secret Files Tunguska is pretty bland at the moment. It's okay enough but needs a real injection of personality to make it better.
The biggest bugbear is the forced letterboxed ratio. If disconnects you from the game, almost like you are viewing the game through a small window, even on a large TV. The main character is very chirpy, enthusiastic and mildly annoying.
Checked out the Animal Crossing update. Lots of small things and improvements rather than some all new and changed addition which changes the experience. I'm not sure it's enough to get back into the game on a daily basis.
There is a shopping district but I can only donate and upgrade 1 per day and have to wait to do another.
Kap'n Sea captain is funny but feels pointless when I can fly to islands. Lots of new recipes, food and tons more stuff to spend nook Miles on. That's the best addition.

Wouldn’t mind picking up this dlc in the near future and getting back into the game. Probably going to have to do a lot of weed whacking and flower plucking when I do though.

Haven’t seen the Monster Hunter movie yet myself either but am also curious as to just how bad it is.
I haven't seen it yet either, but Milla is in it, so I'll enjoy it.

This is what I love about vintage gaming; crazy gameplay ideas like a run 'n gun shooter where the protagonist is bouncing on ball through the level.

I need to explore the C64 library more.

I think no ones online any more. So some of the fun is gone.
Tom Nook is very displeased.
