I modded my 8bitdo arcade joystick last night. The joystick comes with a square gate, which made playing Pac-Man very difficult for me, so I changed it to an octagonal gate (easy mod). This much improved the joystick for me, especially for Pac-Man. 👍

nice. Iscit a physical hack? And are you playing pac99?

Started listening to the GU podcast. I was about to stop after Aspro mentioned Heineken beer. Luckily he justly called out that it's a full before I could turn the show off.

As far as vegan stuff goes: has anyone eaten jackfruit? With the right flavouring it mimics the taste of pulled pork remarkably well.

so you like Heineken?

Finished Deponia, couldn't have been happier, except for poor Rufus. Loved it and looking forward to playing the others. It looks great, it's funny and I love the world and characters. It has excellent voice acting. Just perfectly suits my tastes at the moment.

glad that suggestion worked out for you

No, quite the opposite. I'm culturally obliged to despise anything but Belgian beer.

Thank god. Please tell me Chimay is worthy of the hundreds of dollars Ive spent on it over the years. White is my fave followed by blue then red. Do they have more varieties locally available?

I bought an octagonal bracket that snaps on the bottom of the joystick. No. I don't play the 99 games or any multiplayer games. I have every Pac-Man game on available on Steam. I've been playing Pac-Man CE, DX+, Ms Pac-man and Super Pac-man quite a bit lately.

Yes, thank you so much.

I've been thinking about the Steam Deck, it kinda meshes with the way I use the Switch currently. I think the PS Vita guys were right at the time. A great screen, lots of games stored digitally. I think this is the way I prefer to game these days. There are a few things about the Steam Deck that bother me, the sheer size of it and you cannot detach the controllers. Switch for instance I have a super compact case that is the length of the main unit without joycons and the joycons sit on top. I also dont need two friggin mouse pads on it. The screen still beingn 720p all these years later? I mean I kinda understand it but for a new product I expected a better one. The power is pretty good, 1.8 teraflops which is like XB1 power. And access to the Steam Library is cool. Storage somewhat worries me as big games are all over 20gb each. The Resident Evil 4, 5, 6, Revelations 2 eat up a massive amount of space so if I was to buy BIG AAA like games you are going to run out of space fast, even with micro sd cards.

But the biggest hurdle for me is the price in relation to other consoles. I'm not sure I'm bothered owning multiple systems these days, so if it's a choice between other systems and Steam deck things get more difficult. But a slimmer, smaller Steam Deck at a cheaper price, I might be down for.

is it really hard to find good domestic beer where you are? At my local grocery stores I can always get beer from at least half a dozen different microbreweries. Now don't get me wrong, the vast majority of microbrews out there are complete hipster douchebag hype. I mean, does anyone really think we need nectarine and cardamom infused IPAs? Leave that exotic stuff to me and my bathtub. But aside from that there's plenty of competent local breweries making stuff that's not hard to find. I can't believe Florida would be cutting edge in that area.

MK 11 has sold over 12 million copies now. I had no idea MK still sold that well. A few months ago, it was reported that Street Fighter 5 had sold 5.5 million.

Wow that is a hell of a number. I steered away from the MK series a while ago because the fatalities were just too graphic for my personal taste. Plus, I just don't have the reflexes for fighting games anymore, nor the time to "git gud" so my interest in the genre is pretty much gone as it is and the whole scene is off my radar.

I really didn't think we'd ever see fighting games with those kind of numbers again though. I knew it wasn't just a niche thing, but I didn't think we'd see more than five or six million copies per game. So that's pretty incredible.

Really impressive sales there for Mortal Kombat 11. I rather enjoyed it myself and put a fair amount of time into it. The Krypt mode was pretty cool.

It has recognition juice like Frogger. Multiple generations of recognition. I can see the casual console buyer who only has 4 to 10 games including MK as a must buy. Personally I've never dug it. When it first came to arcades it was notorious enough to at least try it and I am sure it is still the case.

What I'd like to know from fighting game enthusiasts is if it is any good.

It's not the game of choice of hardcore fighting enthusiasts, but it's largely a considered to be a fun game, if the conversations about it I've had are representative of the entire world. It's success is more or less due to:

A. Roster of familiar mortal Kombat characters
B. The fun DLC characters like the Terminator and Rambo.
C. Very accessible controls that anyone can figure out.
D. The story mode.

Ultimately it's that story mode that really made the game a hit I think. With MK9 and Injustice, Netherrealm figured something out about how to weave a story mode into a fighting game in a way that really attracts the most casual fans of the genre. They continued to carry that forward and struck gold with it.

Just ordered The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. Mulled over going digital but ultimately ordered physical from America as its only digital here. The bundle including the first 3 Phoenix Wright games is a 5.6gb download but for a few quid more I got a box, cart and postage. Its a fair price on the eshop £32 where Nintendo first party is all £50

Completed Gibbous a Cthulhu adventure. It came good in the end and is an exquisite looking hand animated graphic adventure. It has its share of flaws a cursor that moves with the character. Lots of pointless hot spots which are decorative in nature - and tons of unnecessary dialogue. Once you get past that, it's fun and picks up in the final 3rd of the game. I'm going to read the net to see what others thought about the story.
