Correct me if I'm missing anything, but basically Square-Enix conference was a lot of avengers and Marvel stuff that no one is asking for, remasters of the original six Final Fantasy games (again), and a Team Ninja kind of sort of maybe remake of the original final fantasy?

Yeah, pretty much. I was pretty disappointed with it myself. Guardians of the Galaxy game looked pretty good and it was actually a story based game and not something like Marvel Avengers. I wanted those remastered Final Fantasy games but as of now they are just for Steam and Mobile. Very disappointing. They showed the Platinum game Babylon’s Fall and honestly as much as I love Platinum this just does not really look that good. Kind of the same with the Team Ninja game. To me it seems more like a Devil May Cry type game then a Dark Souls type of game. I’m hoping that it’ll be fun to play but it really doesn’t look that hot and good lord, that dialogue is atrocious. The conference is getting ripped apart online.

Yeah I saw the overall reaction. Not good. Their YouTube videos are getting downloaded on mass. They've had a couple really good years in a row, so I think people had some pretty high expectations.

Probably doesn't help things that just announced a slew of Dragon Quest items only a couple weeks ago.

I find SE a strange partner for the Marvel games.  They're still mostly an RPG house in my mind.  I know they did those Tomb Raiders as well and Hitman I believe?  I didn't view the GotG trailer, but that's the only part of the Marvel Universe I'd actually consider playing a game of.  I know Marvel is big, but it really doesn't appeal to me at all.

So, what are we playing this week, in between moments of shaking our heads at underwhelming E3 coverage?

I am playing Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon on the Wii, and I have been very pleasantly surprised at how much I'm enjoying it. Really rough controls, but one of the best stories I've come across from the Wii library.

And in other news, after over 10 years, my office TV is finally dying. It was the first HDTV I ever had, but it's having a problem displaying black. And while that was kind of amusing it first, now it's just weird and difficult to look at. Anyway, thank you for your service television, you have served me and my family well.

Ok so E3 weekend was ok I guess. Ubisoft didn't have much but they ended on a true next gen Avatar game that looked insane. Good to see true next gen games finally being worked on. Mario and rabbids being part real time combat looks interesting.

Xbox was a very good show, a non stop stream of games almost all coming to gamepass day one. The value of gamepass is insane to me, you can ply basically every single game they showed for one small monthly fee, just try them all out, it's crazy! Replaced was the standout 2D action game that looked stunning. A lot of games that I would try out if free and so I will. MS still doesn't have that GOTY contender but they have so much value. That game at the end for arcane did nothing for me, also CG still, come on.

Square, oh square. Guardians was fun, looks like some new take on the alliance games combat. Babylon's fall from platinum I thought was a switch game but no it's PS, didn't look too great. But the game of the show is absolutely Final Fantasy Origins! If you have not seen this trailer do it!!!!!

See the CHAOS!!!! CHAOS CHAOS CHAOS!!!! A PS3 game in 2021!!! And the demo came out and is corrupted!!! CHAOS!!!

Best meme ever.

I’ve been playing Dragon Quest Builders 2, Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition, and Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. Also tried out some of Jedi Fallen Order which was quite good so far.

I found a copy of Ridge Racer 1 PS1 for $6. I've been playing that this weekend.

I finished Cloudpunk: City of Ghosts. Time to write a review, I suppose.

Still playing the Raven Remastered. I'm on a cruise ship to Cairo. There has been a murder. I have just perused the breakfast buffet and had a cup of coffee. The sun is shining and elevator music rings in the air. Life is good 😁

Haven't been keeping up with E3. I think this is the second year in a row, where I just haven't been bothered. YouTube occasionally throws me a trailer, Elden Ring, etc. Saw the new Avatar game, great graphics if that's gameplay, but shit, who's still into Avatar?

Well tomorrow is Nintendo GG, will you see that?

Elden ring details are incredible, open world with six regions that have dungeons. 100 skills to learn not tied to weapons, very customizable. Lots of optional catacombs and tombs to find. Everything sounds perfect, Zelda like structure in a souls game, dream come true.

I was promised 5 more Avatar movies like a decade ago.

Capcom still has a show at 3:30 Eastern today I think. I know they're going to show off some Resident evil 8 DLC, and probably some more monster Hunter stuff. I'm at work, but knowing that the president of my company is a huge Zelda fan, I think he'll excuse using company PCs for watching this.

Pretty sure it's just the Reverse mode that got delayed. Maybe we see RE Outrage (switch) today or tomorrow.
