Picked up 4 more of these Artifex Mundi games in the sale, so cheap. When I booted up Grim Legends 3 I was shocked at this one scene. It was the most beautiful 2d scene but it came to life with rain bouncing off objects and mist in the background. Feels like this publisher actually cares about this genre.
Completed Yesterday Origins, its a pretty good Broken Sword substitute. It's a sequel but you learn enough about the first game through various means and I never felt at a disadvantage. It throws a spanner in the works partway through, doing what I HATE: making me recheck areas I have already exhaustively checked. Now, the item is of use, before it wasn't and I couldn't use or pick it up. But like most graphic adventures it never tells or hints to go back to that shelf. It has a system where you can examine people or objects close up, but on two occasions I was completely stuck because the icon didn't come up, even when staring you straight in the face. It has a quirky control scheme for presenting items or ideas, sometimes both at the same time. At first felt alien but actually works quite well in the end. The 3d character models and good voice acting really helps. You feel more intimate with the characters cause the camera shows the 3d models in detail. Luckily the style perfectly matches the 2d backgrounds. One thing though, although the game looks great on switchs screen, docked it has a slightly compressed appearance. Like a photo that's just a notch below the ideal resolution. Good story and some parts felt very much like Eternal darkness. Not a game for kids though, with one misjudged scene where a characters teeth get pulled out and a brutal triple death scene near the end. As well as swearing and sex talk. Not a dark game though.
Most of those cheap Wii HDMI adapters are crap. if you get one, be sure it doesn't upscale the image as it will likely make your Mclassic not work as well. This the one I got: Hyperkin HD Cable for Wii
I ordered a cheap ass 3 in 1 cable for GC/SNES/N64. The hyperkin equivalent was almost twice the price. I'll see if it works. Got two 4k cables. Also got a cheap ass wii hdmi converter. So I can use it upstairs and downstairs on the Wii u to play wii and u games. Fingers crossed. Been watching more videos, mclassic definitely works, but effects differ per game. Wish I had a 1440p tv/monitor. Its 2k, QHD. Big bump over 720 or 1080p. But I mostly want to see if my dvds become watchable again.
I just learned something interesting. There is a very active online Mario Kart Wii community out there via the Revolution emulator. There's 200+ custom tracks and it's active enough that no one ever seems to have a problem getting a full group of racers together.
And what will you do with this new found knowledge?
Not a thing. I just think it's interesting that the modding community is so active for this. You constantly hear things about the online/mod community for Melee, but I wasn't aware of this at all. Apparently though it is active and thriving.

Kind of surprised about this myself. Given the crazy sales for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe I just figured that everyone just kept moving on to the latest Mario Kart game.

As much as MK8 has sold, MK Wii sold even more. Even just until a few years ago it was still selling like 40,000 copies a year. I suspect if you were the kids that grew up with that game ended up PC gamers and learning about modding I just wanted to keep playing it.

^Very slow, very good.
But don't expect much in the way of puzzles.

I'll keep Yesterday Origins in mind, GG. I reviewed the original and enjoyed it.

Fortnite fans flooded the public conference call of the Apple VS Epic trial.
There is no link anymore, but I'll see if I can find the word file and post it here or on Game Under.

Not anymore.

But Mario Kart 8 has a re-release and is on multiple consoles.
Well, that's it for giantbomb as we know it. Mass exodus of on-air talent.
Steam stats
Does that stop Rockstar from claiming sales records for GTA V. Besides, the Wii U was a soft launch.
