Playing all 3 of the Mario's it finally clicked what bugs me most about Sunshine. Mario's movement is very twitchy with small movements of the stick,he will lurch forward or back 2m. I was playing one of the stages where you are FLUDD LESS and thought, if it controlled as good as Mario Galaxy I'd have no problem here.
I personally don't remember having any issues with Sunshine, or how Mario behaves in the game, other than that some levels clearly lacked the polish we have come to expect from a 1st party tentpole Nintendo release.

The issue I had with it at the time was merely the lack of visibility (being able to see around the level when up high) which has been fixed by the change in aspect ratio. I felt nauseous sometimes because I was whipping around the camera so much, or missing jumps because of the camera.
Microsoft just threw down. With the way they've been running their software developers, I doubt all of these will go exclusive, but here's a brief list of what IP's they are picking up from Bethesda:
Doom
Wolfenstein
Quake
Elderscrolls
The Evil Within
Dishonored
Rage
Prey
Exclusive or not, the upcoming games will now be part of GamePass, or $70 a pop on PS5.
It's a huge acquisition. This isn't some small niche publisher, these are big AAA IP's.
That's kind of what I'm thinking too. Most of these games will not be locked exclusives. MS has had way too much success publishing their games on Nintendo and Sony consoles. If anything, this just makes me think we are looking at the last generation of Xbox consoles.
That said, I wouldn't be shocked if one or two of the really big titles ends up as an exclusive. Whatever the Skyrim sequel ends up being, I bet you won't see that on a PlayStation.
and when they take away the FLUDD you can't do the standing still backflip. Damn this game is pissing me far more than it did initially. It feels so much more difficult from what I remember. I think there might be some input latency, I press jump and there's a slight delay which leads me to fall off the abyss even when I've pressed jump.

Bethesda supported Switch. Am I really going to lose access to the next Elder Scrolls? There's Cup head I guess 😒

My conclusion : Sunshine is the Demon Souls of the Mario series.
Big news. Depending on what they release within the next couple of years, I may be an X-box gamer again.
I have to admit I'm leaning more towards an Xbox than a PS5 right now, and I honestly never thought I'd say that. outside of the evil within games, I'm not really even a giant fan of most of those Bethesda properties, but it does show that MS is really doubling down on making Game Pass a robust service.
I've experimented with PlayStation Now a couple times over the past year, and the available library is not in the same ballpark. It's basically the oldest Sony exclusives, three or four big name games from the past two years, and then a bunch of indie crap.
I still don't plan on getting anything new for a while, but the conversation in my head is now between a Switch and an X series.
Outside of Elder scrolls I don't really play the rest anyway but it's a shame games that were previously for all are now exclusive. Anyhow I'm in Ricco Harbour getting the caged shine in Sunshine. Having to mount a climbing expedition over this intricately woven scaffolding. I'm looking down into the ocean realising that one wrong move will result in having to start from scratch all over again. Are you f***ing kidding me Nintendo? Demon Souls of Mario yeah. Not to mention the fluddless section where blocks randomly give way in no particular order?! And you have limited lives. In Galaxy they had colour coded blocks, flip switches and timed platforms. Here they all look the same and it's impossible to remember the shift patterns.
I did that Rico Harbor one the other day with my children, niece and nephews jeering me the whole time. A pain in the ass.
whomever designed that caged sprite in the Yellow cage needs to be dumped at the bottom of a well. He can climb out two thirds of the way before we kick him back down to the bottom. Whoever thought infinity cyclones to blow you off was a good idea?! ASSHOLES!
Also Sunshine lacks the long jump

Even though I had an N64 I never actually had a copy of Mario 64 until I bought it from the Wii virtual console.
But I went into 3D Mario expecting it to be exactly like the 2D games so I was disappointed in it at first.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
Doom
Wolfenstein
Quake
Elderscrolls
The Evil Within
Dishonored
Rage
Prey
And the upcoming new IP's:
Ghostwire: Tokyo
Deathloop
Edit* Microsoft owns Obsidian and they now also own Fallout. We can get a proper Fallout game from Obsidian again.

Well holy shit.

I still would to pick up a cheap Xbone first. I want to play the Gears games again.

Quit whining about the game being difficult. Just admit you've grown old and now suck at more gamez than you did 10 years ago.
