I downloaded the 2014 Strider reboot off of PS Now, and I have been pleasantly surprised with it. This is a really solid action platformer, That does a good job in holding on to what made the original good and expanding on it so that it holds up to modern games. Kind of regret not picking this up sooner, but the art style always kind of put me off, though it looks much much better in motion than it does in screenshots.
I also tried playing Wolfenstein: The New Order. That unfortunately didn't last very long. FPS' and I rarely get along and this was no exception. After less than an hour I got so frustrated I just quit.
That's an impressive play list. Are you thinking about picking up the TG-16 mini?
Yes. I preordered it on Amazon last fall.
I'm driving my bike through rocky terrain, paving roads, and delivering pizzas in Death Stranding.
I beat Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night recently, 100% it at that. Have returned to Arkham with Arkham Asylum on the Xbox One.
Yeah that Strider game is quite good. I got stumped near the end of the game in some fashion and never finished it. Have been thinking about returning to it and trying to finish it up.
I spent more time fiddling with visual settings on Metro Exodus than actually playing it, and discovered I can run it on everything on max at full resolution scale (1x) 1080p while hitting a consistent 60fps (at least in the area I'm in), but there does seem to be the occasional stutter if I'm on "extreme" rather than "ultra". I also discovered that if you start a new game on a different difficulty setting, it alters the HUD in the game you've already started. It's also the only game so far that I can notice any difference on upscaling the resolution. Aliasing in the distance definitely looks a bit better if I'm on 1.5-2x resolution scale, but it's not worth having to turn ray-tracing and the general quality setting down a notch to get a consistent 60fps at 1.5x or 45-60 at 2x. It's really interesting how things like ray tracing and extreme vs ultra affects the quality of colours so much. I don't remember older games having their colours so affected by lighting and general settings.
Other than that, More Forza Horizon 4 and Sky: Children of Light.
Just an interesting note about Strider. A few years ago I played an arcade game called Osman, which was a spiritual sequel to Strider made by the same team that made it, though not working for Capcom this time. Basically they took a lot of the Strider formula but exchanged the sword for Kung Fu moves and the dystopian future government is from Saudi Arabia this time instead of Russia. Oh, and then through possibly the world's worst translation on top of the script so that it makes almost no sense.
Anyway, the 2014 version of Strider incorporated bits from all of the previous console and arcade versions. But the longer I play, the more I feel like I'm actually playing something that's related to Osman. Something about the level design and music I think. Not sure. I should probably take a few minutes and see if any of the team that made this game worked on Osman back in the day. I doubt it, but it would make a lot of sense.
That’s interesting.
Also while on the topic of Strider I would really like to see the NES version make its way onto current systems somehow as I rather enjoyed that game and find the music pop into my head from time to time.
I'm about 4 hours into Pokemon Shield, we'll see how it goes, but this would definately make my top 3 best games of last year so far.

I feel like my complaint isn't being taken seriously by customer service.
Been playing Outer Wilds, I tried it once before and couldn't fly straight, crashed on some crazy planet and had no clue what to do. Figured it was janky crap. Then I heard giant bomb GOTY podcast where it won GOTY and Jeff had the same experience as me. Everyone else said he missed the tutorial and clear note board. I knew then I was wrong, i cannot agree with Jeff, so I tried it again and wow it's amazing. It's as true an exploration game as there is, a giant mystery that unfolds anyway you want. It's completely up to you to figure out what and how to do things.
also still playing Luigi's mansion 3, I play a few hours at a time, it's fun to mess around for a bit.
Great first entires into your top 10 of the decade. Foolz, depression quest write up, very well done. I agree totally, it's wild what has happend in our little hobby and how certain groups are weaponizing it.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileI played a lot more than this, but this is what I beat last year
Thanks, mate. At least it means we're ahead of cultural trends in regards to politics!
Yeah, there's still some issues with the new text editor.
