Just read that amazon is upping the cost of prime from $100/year to $120/year starting june 16th for current members. That's a big hike....damn. I got lucky...my shit renews on the 14th so I don't get bent over until next year.

They stealth started charging my partially sighted father into prime for 6 months before he realised.

They are losing a buttload of money on Prime. People are using it to order stuff for more often than they ever anticipated. I have little doubt it will be at least $150 5 years from now. Maybe even $200.

Then again, I could possibly see Amazon falling apart one way or another before then. I always thought those working condition stories were exaggerated, but I've have a friend who worked in one of their warehouses up until last month and he says it's pretty legit. They work those people to the bone. Very similar to how Foxconn operates in China.

Oh yeah it's definitely true. They put up a warehouse close to me a few years ago, so of course tons of people flocked to it for a job thinking hey it's amazon, this should be great. Nope, not great. My girlfriend's brother worked there for about a month before getting canned...they told him he wasn't fast enough. I know a few others who applied numerous times, had them go in for orientation and everything numerous times, and they STILL didn't get the job.

I love Amazon for shopping, I mean I don't use much else right now. But in terms of working there unless you have a kush position obviously, it seems worse than Walmart or what have you.

By the way if anyone is having troubles accessing the Gaming Discussion forums here's a link that will let you go there directly: http://thevgpress.com/forumboards/gaming-discussion_1.html

Seems to be having a problem that happened once a year or so back.

You can also open a new tab by right clicking on the gaming discussion board and it works.

I don't get it.  If you're so against their practices, why shop there and help them uphold their methods?

Are they going to stop if I don't shop there? I don't think I have that much pull. Find me somebody who uses Amazon that thinks their practices are just the bees knees.

I shop there because they have everything I want. I get better deals than anywhere else most of the time which saves me money, and I don't work there so I couldn't care less. The folks that do work there can easily leave and go elsewhere if they don't like it. I've done it numerous times in my life.

Also, the way Amazon operates is pretty much the story of retail in general. At least here in America. And you gotta shop somewhere.

I finally bought a Swtich Pro Controller for $59 yesterday at Walmart. I should have bought one when I first got my Switch; It feels at least 10 times better than the uncomfortably tiny joy-cons, which i've never been able used to even with the grip.

You’ve got me tempted now.  Get Donkey Kong...it’s fun.

So what has everyone been playing this weekend.  I just finished Donkey KONG Tropical Breeze.  I am watching my eight year old shame me by breezing through a lot faster than I did.

I played nothing at all, despite several attempts to play some more MHWorld over the last week.  Sad

Been playing The Last of Us remastered. Honestly, I didn't think I'd spend more than a couple hours with it, but it has completely drawn me back in. This really is a masterpiece.

I also really up for PS plus, and snuck in a few minutes of Rayman Legends.

Robio inadvertantly got me to play Splatoon for a couple hours this weekend. My new Pro controller got me back to playing Mario Odyssey.

I'm getting old.  I was hoping to get some game time in tonight, but it's 23:20 and I'm just too damn tired.  Think I'll watch some Netflix instead...

Tourist Trophy.

Riding cam has possibly the best sense of speed of any console racing game.

I fired up the Wii U this weekend and checked out Monster Hunter 3 Tri for the Wii to see if you could still play online. You cannot. Put in Skyward Sword to see if I could recall where I left off from as I never did finish it. I cannot. I was like around 37 hours in judging from how much time was on my save file. Ended up getting into Chrono Trigger again on the Virtual Console.

I don't know how anyone plays the Switch with those tiny ass handheld buttons.

The Pro pad is really great. Maybe not quite as comfortable as the Cube pad, but easily the most durable and well built controller Nintendo ever made. Imagine if they had something like it on the N64 back in the day.
