Could PSN be any more of a piece of shit than it is? For fuck's sake this is embarassingly slow. I purchased Valkyria Chronicles around noon. By 3pm it was ready to play, but only the first two chapters and the prologue are available, and it still has an hour to go before I can access Chapter 3. Nothing else on the internet is this damned slow. Apparently their servers are run by anemic hampsters on wheels. I seriously can't believe they have the balls to charge people and this is the best they can do. Well, lesson learned. No more retail games through PSN regardless of how good the deal is.
#1 reason why I build and repair my own computers. I'd be suspicious as well. It's very unlikely that multiple HDDs would go out at the same time. Either there's something wrong with the motherboard, powersupply or perhaps it's the cables connecting the HDDs to either.
Really? I honestly haven't had any issues with the PS4 in terms of online speed. PS3 is a different story. That fucking thing is slower than the Dreamcast. But for me, the PS4 has been as quick as the Xbox 360 & faster than the Xbone.
Do you hook up wired? Wireless blows.
Yeah, I built it and now tried to repair it, but that didn't turn out well. I'm not very PC savvy and just had to admit that I wasn't going to be able to fix it myself. Then the repair shop called me for my Windows key, because I hadn't stuck the stupid shiny sticker onto the desktop. Took me a whole day to find that again. Still, it saved me spending another €110 on a new windows licence. Anyhow, I'm definitely going to ask them for my old HDD's and I'm giong to have a friend of mine look at them. For the sake of the repair shop, he better not be able to get them working again.
That should help.
What do you guys think?
I liked it on commodore 64:

Sucks balls.
Prey has to be the GOTY outside of Zelda so far. This game blows my expectations away.
I haven't played Dishonored 2, but the first one was solid enough though I found it a tad bit overrated, So I didn't know what to expect here...I just knew I liked the look of what they were going for. The end result is a game that just may be better than Bioshock. It's certainly on par. It has that same kind of "holy shit, look at this crazy place" feeling that Bio had in 2007. But it does it with better weapons and gadgets. If you like old school exploration and first-person action in the style of Bioshock, Metroid Prime, or Half Life this is the game to be playing.
The place is fucking huge...I've played for 20 hours now and I think I'm only halfway through the story. The main story missions and side quests that you can ignore...but the game is so fun I've been doing everything I can. Like many classics, it's full of little details. You build a staircase with the GLOO Gun...leave the area and come back...your staircase is still there. Manipulate the environment in any way, it stays that way. You find weapons and gadgets in all kinds of places, and you can build them yourself once you find the blueprint and a recycle machine. You can upgrade your weapons, or not. You also have abilities called "Neuromods" that act like Plasmids from Bioshock, but more of them. You have to find mod cannisters to unlock more. Enemy variety is huge...and there's different ways to go about fighting or stealthing by areas. You can freeze an enemy with the gloo gun and then hit him with a recycle grenade which turns him into particles that you can then build items out of....or you can go all Gordon Freeman and just bash away with a wrench.
Like Metroid, there are areas that are only accessible once you have the right key or ability to go through. Fuck I can't say enough....this game blows Dishonored to bits...now Arkane have my attention. Luckily on the PC you can go into the game files and easily change the FOV...my one gripe, the default FOV is much too narrow. But yeah...must play. We don't get games like this nearly enough anymore. A lot of people claim it's more of a System Shock than a Bioshock....I've still yet to play SS so I'll take their word for it.
Prey sounds pretty awesome but I likely won't get around to it anytime soon, too many other things on my plate at the moment.
Sounds great edge!
I got MK8, decided to sell off Lego City.
And..... I'm floored. Even as someone who owns the game currently on Wii U (that's up for sale too).
Just wow... it's like literally perfect. I feel like writing a review right now. It's literally the perfect game for Switch. I feel better about it than even BOTW. I can understand why this game is still selling and how it can even grow because of the Switch concept itself.
I played all 8 new stages - I played all the new multiplayer modes (shine thief is amazing) - you have 56 tracks in this game open from the start.
HD rumble? It's a thing - it's real and I could finally feel it - the Blaster Master eshop demo has it too if you want to try it out too (detached joycons - no grip).
Wow.... like this game is really really awesome. Not just because of the game it is, but because of how it pairs just pefectly with switch. The performance is perfect too in any mode. And the smart steering literally means you can play it with anyone regardless of age or experience and they will still have a great time. I don't regret for a single second buying this.
LEGO Dimensions - Chase McCain spotlight trailer

Polygon: Switch has become the system people love to love
Really like this article but the GAF user impressions are a nice read too.
So brief impressions of HD Rumble
First things first, you have use the joycons unattached from the tablet and do not use the grip. I presume this would be the same for the pro-controller, don't use that. You can still feel the HD rumble but to a far lesser degree.
So the two games I tried were the Blaster Master Zero demo, btw 8bit graphics but running as smooth as that wth? Usually I hate 8 bit visuals but in motion it actually didn't bother me. Now I want a Shovel Knight demo. Anyhow Blaster Master only seems to have one type of HD rumble for the explosions. It's hard to describe but it instantly makes me recall the Tumbleseed dev talking about instant response.
So it's rumble as you know it but far more responsive, it actually makes you realise there is this delay with normal rumble that is not there in this games implementation. When the rumble more accurately reflects what is on the screen and is paired with the right sounds it really is what it says: HD.
It's more intelligent and nuanced, faster too. It's like having depth to the effect rather than just the same effect of different durations. You cannot feel texture, it's literally about how the shake differs and rumbles in your hand.
So MK8 uses it well, I actually went into time trial mode to tool around with it. Firstly because the left and right joycons both have independent motors, when you crash into the left wall only the left joycon rumbles, and the same goes for the right. So immediately the effect of having separate controllers is that you get directional responses to what is happening on screen. Pretty cool.
Then there is the feeling of different road surfaces. It feels materially different when you go off road, bumpy almost. But my favourite effect is the revving of the wheels at the start of your race. You can actually feel it like there are little wheels inside the joycon rotating. Pretty impressed it can do that.
I hope more games take advantage of it, I think if it is done with sound design it can just pair up and make games more immersive or tactile. Good stuff.
I'll probably get it whenever I get my Switch, assuming the single player mode is solid, and it's $30 or less by then.
I would get it. The art style reminds me of Punchout Wii which I loved.
