This weekend, I played many, many hours of Uncharted multiplayer with Leo, Vader and some dudes from Freedom.  What about you, fortune hunters?

I've been playing lots of Fallout 4. Finished that for a bit and played a bit of Killer Instinct and some Halo 5.

I was celebrating Dragon Quest's 30th anniversary by playing the Super Famicom version of DQII. The original one was insanely difficult, and the remake did a great job of taking the edge off and making it playable.

I have been playing The Witcher 3. Wrapped up the main quest and jumped straight into Hearts of Stone, which so far has showed tremendous promise. New enemies, new gear, and an interesting main quest with lots of fun side stuff to do.

I played about an hour of Bayonetta 2 and the last 2 extra worlds in Boxboy.

I also bought a new Winphone as the screen of my previous one got cracked.  So I now own a Win10 device.  I am not impressed.  The UI of 8.1 was just so much sleeker.  Also, 10 is veering very close to Apple levels of icon fetishing.

Bummer to hear about Winphone 10. I have not really looked into it. I love the interface of my current one.

I've been playing Uncharted 4 and Link to the Past on 2DS. Both are impressive for different reasons.  Link to the Past seems dumbed down a little, which I greatly appreciate.

Part of it may be due to the fact that my new phone has a much slower processor, meaning that even simple things take actual time to be processed.  Things like opening my contacts and whatnot.  But just talking about the UI, I much preferred 8.1.  some of the apps I used often also aren't available anymore.

Agreed.

They overcomplicated what already worked well in w8.

Wait, the SNES one is dumbed down?

This news reminded me of a Conker's BFD multiplayer mode, where one side had to try and kill refugees before they could reach the other end of the map.  What a glorious mode 't was.

I hated my windows phone. Threw it away after a few months, now I use some old iphone one of my daughters left unused until my current contract expires and I can get an actual phone.

It has a dead OS. Has little to no support for existing apps, and an agonizing trickle of new ones that always seems to miss whatever it's new and useful. Plus some apps like Spotify would perform horribly on my windows phone and do random, annoying shit.

Just got back from Combobreaker. Was very fun. I highly recommend anyone going. It was unfortuante that I was matched up with a guy who ended up getting in the top 16 at the tournament though. He flew allt he way from England.

So has anyone here tried the free Mini Mario & Friends?  It's a march of the mini's type of game, where specific amiibo will unlock their counterparts with special abilities in game.  It's fairly basic stuff, but it's chunky, charming and rewarding.

After having played the 'free' levels and those locked behind the Mario amiibo, I feel that this is where Nintendo should be heading with amiibo.  Free software where DLC is tied to amiibo.  Sure, if you have to get a specific figurine for one specific game, as is the case with skylanders, it's an expensive proposition.  However, if there is a plethora of free games, which all use the same pool of amiibo, it's a different story.  I didn't rush out to get an amiibo specifically for this, I just happened to already have a Mario amiibo somewhere.  It's more akin to free DLC with games, where it's a small extra reward for having invested in the amiibo ecosystem.

I like it.

PC makers chasing VR with high-end backpack PCs You actually wear them on your back

Holy shit.

Virtual reality is a hot topic this year, and PC hardware manufacturers like HP and MSI are looking to catch a bit of that heat by producing high-end PCs you can wear as a backpack.

The two leading examples are MSI's Backpack PC, which it plans to showcase at the Computex event in Taiwan next week, and HP's concept for a backpack PC that, according to The Verge, is being considered for inclusion in its Omen line of high-end PCs.

Details on these portable PCs are scant, but what's clear and notable is that they constitute a direct response to the rising popularity of VR headsets, especially those that are meant to be wired to a PC.

"Free from the restraint of a fixed VR platform, users get to move around and enjoy VR with big movements and total immersion," read a pitch for the Backpack PC on an MSI product page. "No more worries about accidently unplugging the wires between the VR device and the platform. MSI Backpack PC renders greater mobility and freedom for VR gaming."

Of course, these manufacturers may also be motivated to experiment with new product ideas because, according to market analysts, global PC sales have been on the wane for some time. Thankfully for game developers, PC software sales estimates actually saw a bit of an uptick in the last few years.

What's bugging me recently is that Xbox Music app won't let me purchase music. It's been like this for 6 months. indecision

Seriously, what store pro-actively stops you from giving them money?
