Agreed.
I can't really get excited about the Nintendo NX announcement. Everybody already knew that they were working on a new system so them saying "Hey were working on a new system, more info next year." doesn't really say anything at all. We'll still get Zelda for the Wii U this year so I'm not worried about that at all.
GG???? What was it like watching this unfold live? Where is eveyone, biggest news of the year and everyone is hiding.
I did not. It's more of a hassle now than it's ever been. You now have to unscrew the back of the 3DS, take out the Micro SD and then transfer data via your PC. Many people have damaged the backs of their New 3DS's doing so, but that's OK, Nintendo is SELLING new backs via their online store.
It could actually be not so great news too. If it's incorporates tech from both the Wii U and the 3DS and it's Nintendo's next system, it could mean a small incremental step up, yet again, in their insistence to NOT abandon old ideals. I am cautiously optimistic, but have been burned a few times too many.
That's true. In a way I'm hoping that it's keeps close to the Wii U at least in the sense of the tablet controller concept. I like that Nintendo tries to keep things as backwards compatible as possible but the way they keep changing up control schemes for each new system is starting to make things awkward in the controller department. It gets a bit cluttered having to keep all these controllers around from previous systems.
They are announcing the new console 2016 so it will probably release end of 2017, Wii U came out 2012, so it appears they will be right on track with the 5 year life cycle. Also earlier in the year Iwata confirmed there are a bunch of Wii U games in development they haven't revealed yet. Some releasing this year.
LOL. It would be a meltdown.
They just announced NX so people wouldn't think they were going mobile only. Iwata said.
I didn't even know about it till it was over, Supreme caught it first. I can't be bothered watching it. Seems more business-y than games oriented announcements so I'm waiting to see actual product first. It's cool that they can milk mobile now though, whatever pays Zeldas bills.
Huh, it's in English

Agreed. I think at this point Nintendo should stay married to the two-screen/touch-screen concept. The DS (i.e. their most successful library of all time) is tied to it, as is the 3DS and the Wii U. Between those three catalogs there's enough incentive to do what it takes to keep those libraries in play for any future uses.
I'm going off of history where Nintendo doesn't release jack shit in the last 2 years of the generation. And the games that do release are delayed to fill in gaps, like Zelda and Xenoblade on Wii.
Yep, that's the scary part. If this NX is a new home console rather than a handheld, then I don't want years of nothing from Nintendo. I feel like they've just barely scratched the surface of amazing games that we could see on the U.
It's going to happen, just accept it.
I just want my Zelda and Metroid on the U. Yes, I know I sound like a typical Nintendo fanboy but I don't care.
I think we are getting that.
I feel like they have to be working on a metroid. It has been too long
