It could be a variety of things from rotavirus to a mild case of flu. Almost all of them are treated the same way, with fluids, rest and small doses of acetaminophen so there is no need to spend time and resources in pinpointing the exact cause of a mild viral disease that will self-limit in 48 hours and has no different approach to treatment even if you accurately isolate the culprit.
