Basically he's saying they're not making anymore "gamer's games" on the Wii U.....I'm surprised they're even still releasing Watch Dogs on it. I think that's more of a gesture of goodwill type thing, because they announced it for Wii U so long ago they would look bad cancelling it at this point. Sucks, but 3rd-party support for major games is pretty much dead on that console. Unless Nintendo wants to dish out some big $$$ for exclusives.
Goatwhore?
Retro Studios Ramps Up Recruitment for a Wii U project
Wow...I was thinking they would have done this like 2 years ago if not earlier, but better late than never I guess.
You'll still get Sonic, Lego, Disney, Skylanders etc. anything else, nope. I'm pretty soured about the whole thing, I don't think 3rd parties even approached the whole console intelligently, Mass Effect 3? Oh here's Mass Effect trilogy. Rayman? Oh we'll delay it and then port it to 5 other systems. 3rd parties have in some way self crippled many of their own releases through lack of promotion, stupid decisions, late releases, late reveals, C-Team port teams, sloppy support, lack of DLC and under shipped quantities. Alex Ward said on twitter, EA printed so few copies of NFSMW that the development team couldn't even buy their own game in stores. Even games like AC were delayed and released a couple of weeks later, with little to no press or interviews on why anyone should be interested in it. Meanwhile their hype machine goes into overdrive as to why it's so good on PS4 and X1.
I still see people saying: Well Zombi U flopped. Forgetting that the big main USA gaming sites all 5/10-ed the game. Do people expect 5/10 games on PS4 and X1 to do big numbers?
I'm not gonna lie....I thought this was a pic of Dead Or Alive 2 on the Dreamcast for a minute.
I wish the console was more of a hit with 3rd-parties, because I'd like to see what more of them could do on it. But at the same time, its still Nintendo's fault this is happening. Once again they didn't design a multi-platform friendly console, didn't do everything they could to court developers, didn't sell their idea to the masses quick enough....on and on. But, its still a great console to have, like usual, for the Nintendo published games.
Fuck, I have all 3. Honestly, I like the PS4 far and away the best of the bunch. It just feels right. I love everything about it, Sony really went back to what made them great in the PS1/2 days (which they began to do in the 2nd half of the PS3) and it shows. The console's powerful, has a great controller, has a great menu that doesn't have any needless crap, and the online/friends/and trophy stuff all work beautifully. I really can't complain about it at all.
Xbox One so far hasn't blown me away, but I do like it. It doesn't seem that far ahead of Wii U tech-wise honestly, but maybe future exclusives will show it off more. The menu system isn't as good as the PS4's either...its honestly a bit confusing at times. It was designed for the fucking Kinect obviously. Whatever, I just bought it for the exclusives.....but yeah, this console is going to be a HUGE step back from the Xbox 1 & Xbox 360 for me.
In my opinion the Wii U should be the #2 console behind the PS4. But that's just my take. Meh....meeeh!!!!
If Wii U was just a PS4 with a Nintendo logo on it, do you really think things would be much better? I don't.
It would get a lot more support just cause it would be able to port the newer games. It wont be looked at as such a strange animal. Plus that would maybe convince a few people to make that their primary console.
Wow Bloodborne looks amazing! Seems a bit easier but clearly the guy playing is an expert so you never know.
It might not be easier but they said that it has health regeneration.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
Yeah you can see it in action, its like NG2 or those games where there is a level or regen you can get after you get hit, by attacking he refills it up quickly. But the more you get hit the more that regen bar goes down.
HOLY FUCK!
Look at the building in the background!!!! Hell fuck no. I am not going there.
WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I haz Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition for Xbox One.
Only 3 weeks until Destiny.
That Yoshida Interview link above has him saying that he has no clue why the PS4 is selling,
That's a very impressive number just nine months into the console's life. Last November we were all hoping the new consoles would sell well, but this is beyond most people's predictions. It suggests something different is going on this time than we've seen in the past. What do you think is the reason for it doing so well so quickly?
Shuhei Yoshida: The 10m sell through in the first nine months is well beyond what we had hoped for. As you know, we have struggled to keep up with demand of PS4 for so many months. It was hard to find and purchase PS4. Now we are able to supply units so in every territory I believe you can find PS4. So we just managed to catch up with demand.
It's just beyond our imagination. We are so happy. But I for one am a bit nervous because we do not completely understand what's happening. You need to understand why your products are selling well so you can plan for the future, right? It defied the conventional thinking. Lots of people thought the dedicated game hardware might not be needed going forward, but still lots of people are very excited. When you see the new games coming out and being announced this E3 and Gamescom, I think there's a good enough reason for a gamer to believe this is something worth investing in.
I agree, but I don't think that explains the speed of sales.
Shuhei Yoshida: Yeah. Actually I'm asking journalists who ask that question their opinion.
I don't know. I was hoping you would know.
Shuhei Yoshida: I'm asking marketing people to tell us why. They've been to people who already purchased, and some of the early data was amazing in terms of the number of people who didn't used to own PS3 have already purchased PS4. So we are getting lots of new customers coming into PlayStation. And some people never purchased any last-gen hardware: PS3, or Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii. So where did they come from?
Why buy now then?
Shuhei Yoshida: Well, yeah. I don't know. As soon as we see a great sales number, our instinct tells us we should be concerned about future sales, right? Are we exhausting all the core gamers? If we sell this number of units, there are no more consumers we can sell to. That's a really terrifying prospect. So we want to understand who are these consumers who we do not necessarily consider core gamers, who are purchasing PS4 and why they are doing it and what they are doing with PS4, so we can create a bit more of a positive future, rather than saying, wow, we have sold to every single core gamer. So that's what we are doing.
Well its cause your competition is terrible mostly. Nintendo is almost out of the picture and MS turned into an evil mad scientist that wanted to rule the world. Plus its the best hardware at $100 cheaper than its competitor. And it now has all the games and the best first party software between the two. So yeah it became the easy choice for people.
Heading to NYC tomorrow for a few days. Leo I will be near you, can you feel it?
Boom
Concept art.
Its official, it is hosted on Xbox.com
As I told you guys before this thing was supposed to be announced back at E3 but it went through some changes. Now it should be cross gen, I am sure we will get more info soon.
I'd like another 3DS version of this please.
I could definitely go for Resident Evil Revelations 2 but I hope they bring it to the Xbox One as well.
Well, my Winphone just decided that now was the right time to auto update to Win8.1. Looking forward to being acquinted with Cortana, even if just to see how well it'll work on my modest phone. Oh, and hoping that this update won't render my phone buggy like the last one did
