I still think SH2 is extremely overrated and not that great. So boring.SH1 and 3 are the two best.

Comparison to the 680, which is the card I have. I got my card almost 2 years ago now, and mine is actually a 4gig 680 so its better than this one here. But the 680 line seems to smoke the 750 line for gaming.  The I3 is a step behind what you want at this point, and the DDR3 isn't the best either. I would guess the PS4 is at least as good as this, in which case I would give the advantage to PS4 just for ease of use and the Network community.
If you want a good gaming PC at this point you really want at least a Core I5, 16gigs of RAM, DDR5, and I highly recommend a 1tb SSD. SSD makes such a huge difference on the PC because it has to do so much more than a console.

DDR4 ram is exorbitantly expensive, and will be until it's standard (which won't be for awhile). If last gen is anything to go by, DDR3 might last you the whole of this generation with superior results compared to consoles if you get enough of it. (DDR2 did this gen; though DDR3 came out a bit later than DDR4 is coming out if I remember correctly.) It's not really a valid comparison, though, given that PS3 had 256mb of ram, and 360 512mbs lol. And were consoles, and not PCs as the PS4 and Xbox One are. Which should make hardware comparisons much easier, actually. But the point is: screw getting fleeced on ddr4 ram.

Hey look guys, proof of life! In truth its not much of a life these days. It's pretty much a comedy of errors and its all prevented, distracted, or encouraged me to stay off the internet. I'd share details but frankly its not interesting.

And in other news I'm playing Secret of Mana 2.

Well, I finally ordered my gaming PC. After much consideration and self-debate, I decided on this:

  • Intel Core i3-4130 @ 3.4GHz
  • MSI Mini ITX DDR3 1600 LGA 1150 Motherboard
  • Cooler Master Elite 130 - Mini-ITX Case
  • 4GB Crucial Ballistix Sport Very Low Profile Single DDR3-1600
  • WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 750Ti with G-SYNC Support 2GB GDDR5 128bit Graphics Card
  • Corsair CX Series 430 Watt ATX/EPS Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply
  • LG DVD-RW
  • Windows 7 Home Premium
  • Price = $653

Yeah, it's certainly not a high-end gaming rig by any means, but I'm not a high-end gamer, so I'm certain it'll work very well for my needs. I should have it on Thursday. Happy

Note: If you are wondering why I chose a paltry 4 GB of RAM, it's because every game I looked at that I want to play recommended 4GB RAM. I figure why buy more than I need? If I'm wrong, I can always upgrade later.

Ram is quickly edging up to 6 and 8, but it's easy to upgrade, yeah.

It's gonna kick arse for awhile yet; don't worry about it not being top of the line!

Welcome to the master race. Happy

Here's my confession: I've never played a Silent Hill game.

I liked the last one (the one that came out on Wii and PS2). Silent Hill 2 was too scary for me, but I am stoic enough now to be able to play horror games.

Aspro said,

"It's funny to see just how "Wii" this game is on the PS2 (in terms of presentation and controls).  It feels just like similar Wii games.  Makes me wonder why more Wii games were not ported to PS2 given the install base (and continued marketing of the PS2 up until last year).

I am almost half way through the game (just checked a walkthrough).  I'm in the high school level.

I'd say so far it has been enjoyable enough. There is not a lot of game in this game, it's basically shoving you down a tube.  The second chase (in the forest) became a little silly, running around in circles a fair amount until I finally found my way out of it, but I like the rhythm of pych interview, staged scene, discovery, scare, discovery, chase.  If it were a longer game it may get old.

But so far, so good.  It's in 7ish territory right now."

I don't think I've talked about it on Gamunderpodcast, and records indicate no conversation about it at thevgpressroom either.

Seems about on par with my setup.  Why no windows 8.1 though?  I've had 7 before, but 8 is just as good.  It seems as if the windows curse has been broken (the one about every other installment sucking).  Is the GPU the boost edition or not?  I got the 650ti boost, and the boost editions should be well beyond the regular Titans for only a small extra cost.

From what I read, the HD Collection of Silent Hill 2 & 3 is butchered....choppy frame rate, bad graphics, freezing, audio and control problems.

Apparently, Konami could not find the master code of the game, and had the team doing the HD versions working off of unfinished beta code of the games. As in, code of the games before the finished product. So it has a ton of issues that Team Silent got rid of before they completed the games. So yeah...I would try to find the original PS2 copies and play those.

Isn't that the game so bad they couldn't fix it and had to refund/reward everyone who had the misfortune to buy it?

Disappear again Robio and we'll replace you with Hobo-io, a hobo in a bathtub.

And this is what the original art director of SH2,3 and 4 had to say about this whole deal (Masahiro Ito):

GME was right SH Homecoming is really awesome. This is totally classic Silent Hill. Its not weird like SH4 or anything, it is as traditional a SH game as you can get. Yes it is maybe a little bit too combat oriented and the puzzles seem to have been neglected as well but everything else fits the series perfectly.I love exploring creepy towns and abandoned buildings. Combat is improved a bit,I just wish there was less, its almost RE at times.
