Chibi is meant to be cute. These characters are borderline normal, somewhat super-deformed.
I, personally, can't wait to see all the Personas and Enemies in this art-style!
I must say, seeing the Main Character from 3 shoot himself in the head in that art-style --IS-- kinda disturbing!
They made that Persona fighting game and it worked out for them. And the Square FF rythtym games sell well, so that's probably what they are thinking. Next? Persona SHMUP.

lol - You don't have to look far to find a dickhead on the internet. Yeah, that's the first thing Sega did, went in there and commanded them to make these games, and somehow Atlus turned them around in 45 days.
Oh there's no question as to why they did the rythym game, and I have no doubt it will be successful in Japan. Not quite as sure as to how it'll do in the West if they even bother with sending it over (Sega is in charge now after all). Not sure it really has a place in the West though. Persona doesn't have that long-time series nostalgia that Final Fantasy has which made the fanbase open to trying it out. Plus there's a very distinctly Japanese appeal in this game. That borderline "am I dirty for watching teenager dance" kind of thing that isn't given a second thought in Japan, but gets your arrested here.
