Seriously, the first quarter of Crysis 2 feels like the Conduit HD. Thankfully it then turns into Half Life x Halo.
I found this with the cartoons they actually cancelled the existing Avengers show after the movie came out then redone the show to make it like the movies. Sucks.
Glory hole?
So Miyazaki just retired and Takahata is even older than him. Studio Ghibli RIP
Windows 8 is a big improvement for MS, though to be honest it's probably easier to use W8 on mobile phones than it is on PCs. There are a few sucky aspects. For instance the video app opens and stretchs all videos full screen with no option to view them at their native resolution so you end up watching them on the desktop in WMP instead. Makes the video app redundant, just a place to pay money for MS shop videos.
The photo app is just as bizaare, you HAVE TO have your pictures in the picutre folder and then it shows up whenever you enter the app. So for instance you cannot click open and then select a location. So basically if you hand your laptop/tabs to a friend or relative for a couple of minutes and they click the massive pic app suddenly they see giant thumbnails of all your most embarrasing pictures.
So you have to keep the pics out of the picture folder and copy or move the files back into the picture folder to view them with the app. So you end up using WMP in desktop mode again. Which is shit for touch controls.
On the plus side W8 is very fast, 3 seconds to shut down, 25 to launch, apps load withing 3 seconds. IE10 with touch is pretty awesome but again some more advanced options are missing so there are a lot of times you have to use it in desktop mode.
So I'm suffering from the Crysis effect, where PC owners started the meme: Yeah but can it run Crysis?
I know Crysis 2 looks a lot better on PC and I know next gen will have better visuals than 360 Crysis 2, but honestly it's a game with huge environments - gated to an extent but it all looks beautiful. Now when I look at next gen looking games like KZ Shadowfall, Infamous 2 the new COD or BF4, I feel like, yeah they look good, but do they look that much better than Crysis 2 on 360? Enough to justify new machines?
So there are levels exclusive to Vita/Wii U that are not in the regular versions. But the Vita version is missing levels from the console versions.
To sum up, the Wii U version has everything. All other versions are missing some content. Also remember the included Rayman Origins levels have been reworked with touch screen stuff too.
I read the Eurogamer comparision, and it's not that other versions (bar maybe the Vita one) are lacking content, they're lacking gameplay diversity, with the Murphy levels playing out mostly the same as any other level.
The PSvitahub reviewer said "Oh man I just noticed that it is missing. There are Murfy challenges specific to the Vita/WiiU that are NOT on the PS3 version (though)"
Wonder if someone will do a full breakdown. What's the capacity of Vita carts?
Seems Digital Foundry has a breakdown up
DF is saying the multiplayer is better on U too. And I do remember now, the announcement that Vita/Wii U has some exclusive levels too. Not just Murphy stuff.
"Built explicitly around the Wii U and the console's GamePad, this version of the game is the definitive release in terms of realising the developer's original vision for the title. The touchscreen, motion, and multiplayer elements are designed to work together in a way that simply isn't possible on any other platform - bar perhaps on the Vita (review code wasn't supplied here) - and this leads to more variety and interesting twists where the gameplay is concerned.
Overall, it's clear that the Wii U offers up the definitive version of the game as imagined by its creators, and does so by introducing GamePad-exclusive mechanics that are well thought out and that never feel like cheap gimmicks. But at the same time Rayman Legends is an outstanding release on all platforms, and an essential purchase regardless of which format you happen to own."
I feel bad doing this but I may wait a few months and hope to get Rayman for 20 euros instead of 40. Same goes for Wonderful 101 and I feel bad about that too. Sorry Michel Ancel and Kamiya dudes... Two months abroad left me well broke. Not to mention I have tons to play anyway.

I got Rayman, will hobo Splinter Cell and W101.
Suprised that DFoundry didn't mention texture compression in the Rayman Legends comparison, resolution and frame rate is mentioned but Legends was made with huge textures and Wii U's memory intensive design in mind. Also bearing in mind Wii U's larger RAM pool, you would at least look for any evidence of texture compression/artifact in any technical breakdown.
This is exactly what I said when the 360 launched and I was playing games like Far Cry Instincts and Half Life 2 and Jade Empire on the Xbox 1 at the same time.
PC will be the lead platform for everything these days, PS4 and X1 are x86 AMD CPU/GPU combos. Only the memory setup is different and PS4 has a slightly more powerful GPU and homogenous memory.
Edge, Crysis 3 got pretty average reviews 7/10, but you say it's better than 2? How is it better exactly?
The only games I'm definitely picking up before the end of the year are Zelda Wind Waker HD, Watch Dogs PC, Kingdom Hearts HD....and that may be it. I'm still on the fence about picking up Wonderful 101 and Donkey Kong U (though tempted to see what Retro can do on this hardware) and as much as I want Splinter Cell, I am not paying $60 fucking dollars for the digital Steam version.
There really doesn't seem to be that many major titles closing out this year, or the end of this gaming generation. Wii U may have the most interesting lineup and its kind of average by usual Nintendo standards.
I also still need to pick up a 3DS so I may do that before the year is up.
Yeah I remember seeing the reviews...I think that's why I didn't play it until now. IDK man, to me it just feels like a more interesting game than C2. Obviously the production values are better, but also just the design of the world; there are many more branching paths and different ways to approach each scenario here than there was in C2. Its not as open as the first game, but much more than C2 was. The weapons are just as good...suit powers etc. The story is the same stuff.
I really have no clue what people didn't like about it. Were they upset that there are more human enemies? Or upset that the game incorporates more of a Call Of Duty influence in its story structure? Much better than a 7 to me so far.
Quick Luigi U question? Is there enough content to justify the purchase? Do I need a Mario U save to play it? I want a Mario platformer for my son and Mario U is just a little too steep.
DKCR U looks like the Wii game in HD.
To download it I believe you require NSMB on disc. Otherwise you have to buy NSLU on disc as a standalone. NSLU probably isn't that kid friendly, it remixes existings levels, puts a 100 second timer on and makes levels trickier.
I'm right there with you. I really want both games. Rayman was the reason I bought the Wii U at launch. But short mugging an old lady though I don't see myself having the extra cash for it.
