What are the issues with the harder parts? The bosses were generally boring due to their simplicity, and the camera could have used some work on the chases. Other than that I can't really think of many problems with them.
gamingeek said:Found the solution to the Wii u net browser youtube problem. The embed/ trick doesn't always work. But putting _popup in between watch and ? does work.
Thanks I was forgetting the / after embed but thanks for putting another fix.
Edit* I posted this fix to Miiverse. I did give you credit in my replay to that post.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
Finished the Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch demo today. The first half of it was an early boss battle followed up with a little map exploration. The second half takes place a little further down in the game, but still fairly early. At that point the characters were leveled into their mid to high teens. This time it's a local level where you have 3 minutes to dodge lava and such while you race to the top of a volcano. You also have more familiars and a teammate who was controled by default by the AI and was doing a reasonably good job. Given my only experience was in the demos so far I don't think I could have controlled her any better. At the top of the volcano is a much tougher boss fight that really forces you to move your characters around the in space in order to avoid attacks and find an ideal spot to attack the boss' weak spot.
Anyway it's a good demo all the way around and I suggest checking it out for anyone who was a fan of Studio Gibli (so far they're really nailed the vibe of those films) or fans of Dragon Quest VIII.
Speaking of demos I also checked out the Sonic Racers Transformed demo on the Wii U. It pretty much limits you to 1 racer (Sonic), one racing mode, and it looks like 2 tracks. Possibly more, but I can't complete the second one which is hard as hell. Seems like a solid kart type racer. The big thing I walked away from as I played it, is that it is MUCH tougher than Mario Kart. Skill is really tested in this game. I'm a damn good Mario Kart player, and I've yet to come in first on the main track they offer in the demo. Very tough. Not sure if I'm sold on the flying or boating parts of the racing as it really changes up the feel and possibly more than I like. That being said I think people who liked the flying parts of Diddy Kong Racing will enjoy the flying in this immensly.
All that said, the game is a definite buy from me. Assuming the levels are mixed up a little bit and feel a bit more unique, it looks like they've addressed all the issues I had with the original Sonic All-Star Racing. If one of my family members doesn't get this for me for Christmas, I'll be picking it up shortly afterwards for the Wii U.
Playing this week:
After wrapping up Halo 4 on Saturday I am now playing Yakuza: Dead Souls. I am guessing I am about a fourth of the way through since there are four characters and I am at the first boss for the first character.
The camera is deplorable, but so long as you don't go into first-person aiming it's sufferable. Usual high-standard of entertaining story and characters, so the end result is that I did not want to stop playing.
Haven't really played much of anything this week, aside Nintendo Land with visiting friends (finally got my first gold trophy on the Octopus Dance game of all things), and testing out the above mentioned demos. I tried to squeeze in some FES, but the wife is deathly ill with some foul plague and there's no way I'm going into our bedroom to play the PS3.
Fell into a serious funk in the last week or so. Haven't been around too much. Everyone's probably tired of hearing about it, but the calm AFTER the "Storm" has finally given me some time to reflect on what happened and time to try and unwind. Didn't work. Just gave me time to "think" ... Yay. There are still homes that are ruined and being salvaged and rebuilt around me. There's still convoys of trucks full of ruined cars passing by the main roads nightly to be inspected by insurance workers. Whole beaches and beach communities are gone and are not likely coming back.
I got by mostly unaffected (many of my family members were not so lucky) and I did whatever I could to help --BUT-- when you see such devastation around you for such a prolonged time, "Survivor's Guilt" becomes a real thing.
I don't know if it's the time of year and people are busy or if it's human nature to avoid unpleasant situations, but I am SUPER disappointed to say NONE of my close friends (in NYC, NJ, Upstate and unaffected areas of Long Island) have either visited or come by to help or offer a hand or just to simply take me out to get away from all of "this." Things like this storm definitely leave you feeling VERY vulnerable and helpless in general, but feeling like you are ALONE in all of it makes it a thousand times WORSE.
Last time I felt THIS alone was when I was injured. My gaming in the last week regressed back to that time. I went to town on the Virtual Console on the Wii U and bought: Ys: Book 1 & 2, Super C, Ogre Battle 64 (yes, again), CastleVania III, Alien Soldier, Gradius II: Gofer no Yabou, Super Metroid, Devil's Crush and Axelay. These represent some of my happiest "gaming" moments from back then, and I'm hoping they help pull me out of this now.
The shootings in the Mall in Oregon and the Elementary School in Connecticut left me utterly heartbroken (again). If anyone is interested in sending well-wishes or gifts or flowers or ANYTHING to the kids in Connecticut, at least, here's the address to do so:
Sandy Hook Elementary School:
12 Dickenson Drive, Sandy Hook, CT 06482
A few surprises are headed their way for the kids during the holiday season, the nature of which I can't disclose YET, but it made me feel a tiny bit better that I was able to do something for them.
Doesn't make me feel any better that I totally overlooked Robio's Campaign that was sitting right under my nose here... SO VERY SORRY about that!
If you've sent me messages online and they went ignored, I apologize for that too... I'm looking forward to some Holiday Peace and Cheer (hopefully) soon, and HOPEFULLY that will mean some online time with people from here (Travo, amongst others) soon too.
Sorry for the sad-sack, rant...
...but that's what I was doing this weekend.
