No many were 1% it kind of shocked me. By the time you reached a skill upgrade you have raised it by about 5% which is exactly what ME2 does when you upgrade a skill, it simplifies it but you are still making basically the same choices. Yes there are more categories like weapons in ME1. Outside of that I really dont see how ME2 did anything that was so drastically different. ME1 was not a deep RPG to begin with which is why I don't get where this argument comes from. It's not just you steel, many feel like you do I just don't get it, almost all the same choices are there you just spend much less time focus on it and focused on what matters the combat.

Isn't the entire point of spending so much time in menus raising your character in great detail for the sole purpose of combat. Well ME2 focused on the combat, the area where all aspects of the game converge. What is the point of all those stats If the combat isn't fun. Maybe some dont want to play a shooter which is understandable, but then this is the wrong series to be playing.

No.

Ok yes, but no.

In an RPG combat is ancillary to the overall experience. To me, at least. It's a means to an end, not an end itself. You do combat to kill shit to get loot and EXP. It can be either fun or boring, but I'm not entirely sure other stuff should be cut out to favor combat. Why should stat management be detrimental if combat is good? Can't you have good combat AND stat management? Stats got nerfed because people want to blow shit up constantly.

But again it really wasn't cut, it was simplified, easier to see where your upgrades go so you don't have to spend so much time in menus doing the same things.

And you are right stat management doesnt have to effect combat but it can put a halt to the game if its too complex. To me when I play RPGs I want to spend as little time on menus as possible. I like building my character but I like to see clear impact choices, I am not a fan of 50 stat classes that you slowly build by tiny percentages. For me the stat building was ok in ME1, not so bad, it was the item management system that was horrendous. There is nothing more I hate in RPGs than worthless items. Almost every RPG I play I end up with like 100 different healing or buff potions/items that go totally unused . Then there are games like TES which have thousands of items, many just useless junk that you have to sell. ME1 had that useless item syndrome. It makes you constantly be in menus to make sure your inventory isnt full, to make sure what you just got isnt a better weapon than what you had, so many menus. Do away with all that and just give me a weapon when it is better than the one I have, give me a useful upgrade that I can use instantly. There is no need to be in menus all the time. That is my biggest gripe with RPGs and what ME2 did was incredible, get rid of all of it. You still find better weapons, you still find new armor and good stuff around the game world but you only find GOOD stuff.

Is the demo for Mass Effect 3 not up on the PC yet? I can't seem to find it.

I have a dilema....I can't decide whether I want to play the game on my PC or my 360....on one hand, my PC can easily play the game to the highest level it can be played. But on the other hand, I've played the 1st two games on 360 and would like to put my new 60 inch Aquos to use. What do you guys think?

PC>360.

It's not a hard choice.

We provided a few details on Resident Evil 6 from Famitsu earlier in the day. Since then, Capcom USA delivered an update along with images (just high res grabs from the debut trailer). Sokuho@Hokanko also delivered a more in-depth summary of the magazine's feature.

Famitsu's feature came as part of an interview with executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, director Eiichiro Sasaki, and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi. This was one of the magazine's two super scoops this week (the other was Fire Emblem).

■Development

Kobayashi discussed the game's announcement from a few weeks back. The game was announced simultaneous with its price and release date because the staff wanted to surprise everyone, explained Kobayashi. Also, they wanted to show that development is coming along well.

Sasaki echoed statements from the unveiling about how the game's development started about two years back. However, for a few months before that, the main staff got together to work out a framework for the game. They also went around showing an image of Leon and Chris to the game's staff.

Kobayashi said to expect a game that continues with the flow of Resident Evil 4 and 5 while also giving a bit more feeling of horror. The game is not a return to the basics of the series, he said. It keeps the good points of 4 and 5 and shows what's next.

Kobayashi is also telling the staff that he wants to show more color on the screen.

■Main Characters

Leon and Chris were shown at the unveiling as two of the game's main characters. A third main character was also shown but was not detailed.

Sasaki said that because Leon and Chris are veterans, this character is being included in order to have someone younger people can sympathize with. Leon and Chris have a strong sense of justice, and in contrast to this they wanted to have someone who's more of a hero for the now.

The third main character will also have a partner character, but they're not sharing details yet.

Here's Capcom USA's official English text for the cast:

Leon S. Kennedy

Following the Raccoon City incident Leon was recruited as a US government agent by none other than Adam Benford, who would later become the President of the United States. Ever since the nightmare that was Raccoon City Leon has made it his life’s work to eradicate bioterrorism.

Helena Harper

Like Leon, she is also a government agent, but was in the process of transferring to the Secret Service to become one of the President's personal bodyguards. In the announcement trailer it is Helena who admits to Leon that she is the one responsible for this incident.

Chris Redfield

The ex-S.T.A.R.S member who continued the fight against bioterrorism as the leader of the BSAA underwent a personal trauma some six months prior to the events depicted in RE6. In spite of this he has rejoined his BSAA colleagues in China to uncover a major bioterrorist attack.

The mysterious third protagonist

We’re still trying to track down his real identity but we do know this man is a mercenary currently engaged in a bloody conflict in Eastern Europe where reports confirm that B.O.W.s are increasingly being used. One day, he's told that he is the man to save the world. Whilst he doesn't understand the implications of this, he does immediately think how much money he can make from it.

Ingrid Hunnigan

A member of Field Operations Support (FOS), Ingrid has been working with Leon for a long time, and they share a mutual trust.

Adam Benford

President of the United States and the man who hired Leon after the Raccoon City incident.

■Zombies and J'avo

The three also shared some details on the game's enemies. At the announcement press conference, we were introduced to general zombies and the new J'avo B.O.W..

Zombies are making their long awaited return in 6. Kobayashi noted that due to balance, it was difficult to put them in RE games from 4 and beyond. The zombies this time were zombified through something other than the t-Virus.

Sasaki commented on what he believes is so scary about zombies. He feels that the fear with zombies lies in the fact that you can discern, from looking at their tools, how they lived their lives before being turned into zombies.

Regarding the zombies, Capcom USA says, "Yes they are back, but now they run, jump at you, even use weapons and as such are different from those encountered in previous games."

For the J'avo, Capcom USA writes:

"Named by the BSAA after the Serbian word for ‘demon’, the first J'avo made an appearance in the conflict zone of Eastern Europe about six months before the action of Resident Evil 6. The J’avo still exhibit certain human elements – such as the ability to understand speech, work together as a group and use weapons - but they are also incredibly aggressive and a number of their actions have regressed to pure instinct.

"When a J’avo takes damage it has the ability to regenerate itself. However if it is receives major damage then it will mutate that affected body part into a number of varied forms, meaning players will have to rethink their strategy and adapt to this unpredictability."

■China and Setting

Capcom USA clears up one important point about the game's setting: it takes place in the year 2013.

One of the game's primary locations, shown in the trailer, is the city of Lanshiang in China. This is a fake city, but the staff placed an importance on delivering the right atmosphere, so they traveled to a certain city for research (they did not say which city).

■Controls

Regarding the game's control system, Capcom USA writes: "Resident Evil 6 features an evolved control system allowing players to shoot whilst moving; slide; roll in any direction and to take cover along with the addition of an enhanced melee attack."

■Closing Comments

Sasaki: Said to look forward to the human drama that weaves three heroes of different position, along with the "fear of what lies ahead."

Hirabayashi: Said that the team is hard at work on the game now. From here on out they'll be releasing new information gradually.

Kobayashi: Said that they're making the game so that people who've never played an RE game will be able to enjoy themselves.

Kotaku's Ace Attorney movie review is awesome:

"I'll end this review with a little story. I had the pleasure of seeing this film with a non-gamer who had never even heard of the Ace Attorney games. He came out of the theater raving about the swerving plot twists, great characters, and amazing direction. He then proceeded to download Gyakuten Saiban 123 HD—the new iOS HD versions of the first three games—onto his iPhone. I don't know if there's any bigger praise than that."

Seems like they're focusing on characters in the Resident Evil games now, that are more in line with super heroes rather than normal people caught in a crazy situation like they used to be. Chris and Leon are like Special Forces guys now...Jill in RE5 had those weird ass powers. That new guy in RE6 has weird ass powers. Whatever happened to normal, believeable characters like Claire Redfield, Billy Coen, retro Chris etc?

I want to see the RE with two Bill and Ted like characters caught in a Racoon City style situation.

In RE revelations there are a couple of characters edging near that who are quite refreshing to watch.

Resident Evil 6 is sounding really awesome. I definitely can't wait to see more on the game and especially am really looking forward to the demo. It's going to be great to move around while shooting as well as taking cover etc.

Great review from Famitsu for Asura's Wrath. I really enjoyed the demo and am looking forward to picking this game up.
